Copenhagen Scene 3: Prying Eyes

Once the trolls and their stench leave the van, the trip to Frederiksberg is easier. The elven guards eye you with suspicion, but offer no challenge to your Delphi Council credentials.

The area past the guards is an open-air market. Food, clothing, and various magical wares are offered at the numerous stalls. Prices are listed in a currency denoted by a "T" symbol, and payments are made in silver and gray metallic coins.

The elves engage in friendly banter and discussion, until they spot you. Once they do, they avoid eye contact and speak to each other in whispers. Even those inside buildings seem to avoid your gaze as much as possible.

The last known report of the Cyberpapists was northwest of this market. The stalls in the streets have narrowed the road to accommodate foot traffic with occasional horse riders. Using the van is possible, but Johnny will need to drive carefully to avoid knocking down a stall or upsetting display baskets.

Obvious options at this point are:
*) Shopping at the market. It's early afternoon, so there are still several hours of daylight left.
*) Trying to gather information from shopkeepers and/or patrons.
Due to the obvious hostility, all discussions are at -2.
*) Moving through to the northwest to hunt for the Cyberpapal agents.

"It looks like a RenFaire," Case observes with some excitement, "we probably want to find somewhere safe to park the van and walk so we can ask around if anyone has seen any weird priests."

A side street provides a convenient place to park adjacent to a bike rack being used to tie up a horse. Going back to the market, the most popular stalls are the fruit and vegetable stands. A stand with chickens and beef gets some attention. The shops selling clothing have varied traffic, while the potion and ring makers have at most one elf at them at a time.

One elf with a sword at his side and a brocaded tunic comes up to the group and asks curtly, "Do you need something?"

Re: Copenhagen Scene 3: Prying Eyes

Leaving the van, Case smiles at the approach of the elf.  Even though he seemed a bit rude, the young man wasn't deterred.  He just might need a little bit of help.

Case glances at one of the more enthusiastic merchants hawking their wares and tries to borrow their glibness before opening his mouth.

Turning his attention back to the nearby elf he steps forward, "Yes, and thank you very much for seeing to us.  We're looking for strange looking priests from France.  Have you seen outsiders with metal in their skin or like that?"

"You must mean those ruffians who desecrated an Asten shrine in the temple district north and west of here. Your group reminds me of them. I am not comfortable discussing anything further with the likes of you."

OOC: You did get the +1 to the persuasion, so the result is 7 Charisma +1 add + 8 (bonus) -2 (Elven snobbery) = 14. Standard success vs. base 10.

"Okay, bye!" Case turns to the others, "Sounds like Brother Pierre was hunting for treasure at the shrine.  Makes sense the elven god of secrets would have information on or be hiding an eternity shard or something like that."

The young shrugs, "So I guess we go north and west to check out the shrine to Asten?"

Copenhagen Scene 3: Prying Eyes

When you get back to the van, you notice a group of elves blocking your access to it. A quick glance behind you reveals another group advancing menacingly. Elves from both groups pull out knives amid shouts of "Go back where you came from!"

You are under attack from 15 elves. Stats are in the character description for "Elf Citizen". Three of them are reality-rated, each with 2 Possibilities and a Wound Limit of 1, but otherwise are the same.
