Copenhagen Scene 4: Exploring the Ruins

Noting her body language Case asks, "So cyberpriests are not too far to the East?  Are they digging up something or holed up in some sort of base?"

Listening carefully to her response, "So what's to the North that made moving your camp here a better choice?"

"We heard cries and grunts nearby and investigated. The place was infested with draugr, Vikings who had been raised from the dead by foul worshippers of the gods of Corruption. It is said that the leader of the Bjanni tribe is the high priest of Corba'al, the god of necromancy and the most influential of the Corrupt gods.

"We made plans that night to move south to avoid these abominations. As we were leaving, we saw large creatures being herded into cages. It was too dark to make out what they were, but I think I saw the beasts had wings. That would make them either baby dragons or larger members of the drake family."

"Sounds like they're gathering some monsters to attack Copenhagen.  That viking zombie riding that wyvern to the North while we were beating on those elves probably comes from there."  Case considers a moment and then asks Jabbelline, "Have you seen any other outsiders besides the cyberpriests?  Egyptians dressed kindof funny?"  Holding up one hand so Revenant doesn't have a line of sight on his movements, Case makes a pointing motion with the other hand towards his not-an-Egyptian-fascist comrade and mouths the words 'Like him'.

"I'm...ummm...Jacob." The bandaged man said. The last thing he wanted was to call himself by his code name and scare people. "Dont...ahhh... need any drinks, thanks anyways." He said, waving off the offered beverages.

When the bandit leader mentioned undead Vikings, he nodded. "Can you show us where the dead viking riding a flying lizard came from?"

Void faded into reality as she was wont to do and smiled at the assembled people, accepting their offer for food and drink as she was always interested in trying something new.

The Dwarven Ale was definitely something new and warranted further exploration so she went back for seconds.

"I'm not old enough for alcohol...back, home?" Johnny says, obviously uncertain and distressed about his uncertainty. "I probably shouldn't drink," he adds. Having put off the need for memory, his distress levels visibly improve.

Jabbelline goes and enters an address 2.8 kilometers north of your current position into the van's trip planner. "That's where you'll find the draugr. As I said, we couldn't identify the beasts, but wyverns would fit in the cages we saw. As for outsiders, that's the extent so far, unless you count the occasional troll who tries to crash our evening celebrations."

"Those are probably further to the North.  Brother Laplace is our primary mission," Case says flatly, "If we have time and are in good shape after dealing with the cyberpapal agents, I think then we can see about swinging North to try to hurt the Viking undead and wyverns."

"You'll be fine. There may be a bit of pain, but you'll get over it."

Traveling to the location marked leads you to a ruined Catholic cathedral. There is something odd about it; perhaps a find test is in order to figure it out.

Copenhagen Scene 4: Exploring the Ruins

Case looks at the name on the church: "Oradour-sur-Glane". That's an awfully French name for a Danish cathedral. He is beginning to suspect an illusion.

A shout from Ivan causes Case to jump back away from the cathedral in time to avoid being peppered by needles from ten high tech pistols. They seem to have been fired through the cathedral's walls, and the outlines of police officers in powered armor can be seen "inside".

OOC: The cathedral is a "hard light" illusion. What is behind it is an actual ruined building which they are using as cover and concealment. When doing ranged attacks against them, you can choose to take a -4 concealment penalty or attack normally but grant them the benefit of increasing their armor value to +6 (from the +4) their "Armor of God" provides.

Ivan has played Alertness to avoid giving the church police surprise.
Title:Alertness

Each player gets one turn (in whatever order you want) and then each gets a second turn before the church police can react. One is clearly a sergeant with 3 Possibilities, a reality value of 9, and a Wound Limit of 3.

Case seems almost relieved for being shot at through the illusionary cathedral.  He sends a bolt of fire towards the cyberpapist leader and then, with a look of horror on his face, point to the sky behind the church police and shouts, "Wyvern!" as he moves for cover.

In reply to Church Police (msg # 20):

Jacob decides his Webbly would not be useful in this situation, but instead uses his lasso and snags one the armored foes. Then he uses his great strength to drag his target out of cover and into the open air.

Ooc:
17:37, Today: Jacob Amer (Revenant) rolled 15 using 1d20.  Lasso. I dont care to do damage, but instead just to pull my target out into the open. A lasso allows someone to grapple at a 10m range. He can keep his armor bonus, and with my roll I beat his defense by 3. It will only do 1 shock of damage, but I would rather just remove him from cover and let another PC deal with him.)

Playing Second Chance into pool.

Thanks to Case's distraction on the leader about wyverns, the sergeant falls victim to Jacob's lasso. With his mobility restrained, he is dragged out from behind cover.

"Ambush close!" Ivan shouted, moving forward into the cover provided by an abandoned car. It wasn't exactly good rubble, but it was better than nothing and his rifle came up... then paused as the Sergeant was dragged out of cover. Grinning a shark's grin, Ivan put a pulse into the helpless man's head. 'Ppt'.
