Conventions and RtJ

For a long time, we were at war with The Jackals. Now, finally, We've driven them off, and we're left with this: a year of relative peace. One quiet year, with which to build our community up and learn again how to work together. Come Winter, the Frost Shepherds will arrive and we might not survive the encounter. This is when the game will end. But we don't know about that yet. What we know is that right now, in this moment, there is an opportunity to build something.

This is a map drawing game. We will play as a community, rebuilding after the collapse of civilization. The map is constantly evolving. It blends literal cartography with symbols, creating a rich visual record of land and people. Players collaborate to steer the fate of the community, while also introducing problems and tensions along the way.

We don't control specific characters or act out scenes. We act as social forces. We may act as a single person or a great many.

Look for opportunities to introduce new and interesting challenges into the story. Make sure there are always difficult decisions to be made and uncertainties to be explored.

For our game, we will be using the roll20 site to create the map, and this site for discussions about it.

I will post a summary of the rules, which you will be able to read once you are admitted to the game.

To join the game, please submit a request-to-join PM. I will be using my forum handle; if you want to use a different nom-de-plume, request it here.
Tell me about your experience with Quiet Year or other world-building games.
Please don't join if you're going to ghost. If you have to quit, let me know.
