Rules etc.

Needs work.  For now, using the old set with alterations.

  • All are welcome to play (unless explicitly forbidden).
  • There are no time limits, so you should be under no pressure to get posts in "on time".
  • Perversity points (PP):  Players will start with 10 and can win them for interesting posts.  They can be spent to influence in-game events, such as to make something happen, or to help or hinder another player.  The most interesting thing about PP is that they even exist in-universe!  Things can be purchased over your PEP implants using PP.
  • Those wishing to join should send me an RtJ indicating that they wish to do so.  Thouse who have been out of the game for a while may find that their old characters ahve moved on to do other things, and may contact me for a new character if they wish.
  • Please avoid formatting your text in such a way that it is not visible.  If you wish to send something to me alone, please send me a PM or a private line.  Remember that the text of this game is being backed up into a local file; invisible text is included without its formatting.  (This rule came from an earlier iteration and may not even be needed here.)
  • You should not assume that things will succeed (except for certain trivial things).  For instance, if I don't mention an object, it probably doesn't exist.  If I've mentioned it before and you've returned to its location, it might still be there, but it might have moved.  Similarly, if someone's trying to punch you, for instance, don't just say "I dodge, and hit him back".  Both of those thing require dice rolls on my end, and the dice might decide to hate you.  (Dice have a mind of their own sometimes.  It's best to appease them.)  A better way of phrasing the example might be "I attempt to dodge.  If I succeed, I try to return the punch."
  • Don't wait for everyone else to post.  If you want to post, do so.  Do try not to post too many times at once, though.
  • If you run out of clones (or are otherwise unable to continue using your character), you are free to create another character.  HOWEVER, the new character must be different.  Don't just give me Old Citizen 2.0.  Especially if your old character was erased.
  • You may control one two characters at a time, provided that your characters do not come into contact with each other.  Please do not attempt to create and/or control arbitrary NPCs without my consent.
  • Your character will die a lot.  That's part of the game and is the reason you have clones.  That said, you should refrain from arbitrarily killing them off for no good reason.  Doing this a lot might be funny to you, but for the most part does not fit the tone of this game.
  • I should probably talk about tone as well.  The version of Paranoia we are using here has three play-styles: Classic (old-style fun), Straight (more realistic), and Zap (as in the sound a laser makes, since that's most of what you do: shoot stuff).  Killing off oyur character a lot for no reason might fit a Zap game, but for the most part this game is somewhere between Classic and Straight.  Different parts of the game might veer towards different styles, though.
  • But the most important thing for all of us is: have fun!  You are having fun, right, citizen?
