Character Creation

Character Creation

Ability Scores: 20 Point Buy

HP: Roll Or Take Average. (Must decide before you Roll)

Races: Races present within Ravnica [Link], Not all races in ravnica translate cleanly into Pathfinder races, if something Is similar but under a different name, reflavoring is fine, so long as I am informed. 15 RP is the soft limit, but if something is a bit higher its okay as long as its for flavor reasons, Simic hybrids wont be accepted above 15 RP, the negative traits are there for a reason.

Traits: Players start with 2 traits, 1 of which must be one of the campaign traits detailed below. Players make take 1 flaw to take 1 extra trait.

Classes: While it is perfectly okay to be a purely martial character of the Boros Legion or the Guildless, Mages tend to be a lot more common than in Golarion among the Guilds, so being some degree of the caster is most appropriate for this.

Unchained Classes: Whenever a class has an unchained variant, the player is encouraged to choose the unchained version of said class, it is not mandatory to choose unchained classes, except in the case of unchained summoner.

Deities: Unlike many settings and planes, Ravnica does not have gods to draw upon, normal characters are not required to choose a deity. Divine Casters must choose a force or being that grants them power, be it the Guildpact for Azorious agents, Power and Profit for those within the Syndicate, or Niv-Mizzet himself for the members of the Izzet Leauge.

Skills: Knowledge(Nobility) Is replaced with Knowledge(Guilds), and Knowledge(Religion) is replaced with Knowledge(Guildpact)

Languages: The languages spoken on Ravnica differ from Golarian, a full list can be found here, with Ravi taking the place of Common in any race that grants it, any language you obtain from your race that isn't on this list may be replaced with 1 other language that is on the list.

House Rules
(Will be updated as I make rulings and add rules, players will be notified of any changes)

Feats: Characters will obtain a feat every level

Vigilantes: Vigilantes can choose a single district(or a precinct within that district) as their place of Renown, This does not follow the usual restrictions on population and size (as Ravnica is significantly too population-dense for it to matter) but the general size of the district in relation to others and its importance will be taken into consideration for if an area is allowed.

Allowed Content

1pp: All pathfinder content is allowed, with the exception of the Leadership feat and other similar abilities, they may be granted in specific cases, but dealing with cohorts is quite aggravating.

3pp: Content will be allowed on a case-by-case basis, if it fits in with the Flavour of the world and is mechanically sound, the exception to this is Dreamscarred Press Psionics, which are pre-approved, as I know and enjoy the system. Things that might be defined as "Alternate Rules Systems" or require the campaign to be built around them such as Spheres of Power/Champions/Might are not allowed, as they're more headache than its worth.

3.5e Content: using 1st party 3.5e feats and spells is allowed on a Case-By-Case Basis, but classes and other such content is not, please bring any feats or spells you wish to take to my attention for a quick check over.

Homebrew: Is also allowed on a case-by-case, however, I am much more critical of Homebrew than 3pp, as there is a lot of junk and lack of polish that is somewhat less prevalent in 3pp.

Custom Content

Custom Content

Campaign Traits:
(the Suggested Classes are Just that, Suggestions, you can take any that are in theme with the guild you choose)

Azorius Functionary: (Suggested Classes: Paladin, Inquisitor)
Benefit: As a Functionary of Azorius, you are dedicated to keeping law and order within the city of Ravnica, one way or another. Once per day, you can activate an Aura of Law as a standard action, allowing you to detect any creature breaking any laws or telling any lies within 30ft of you. You gain a number of minutes of use equal to your Level, these do not need to be spent consecutively but must be spent in 1-minute intervals.

Dimir Operative: (Suggested Classes: Rogue, Wizard)
Benefit: Dimir Operatives are drawn from all sorts of unsavoury types, many of which do not know they are even Operatives of Dimir, but all of them have a common need, to hide in plain sight. You gain Mask Of Vritue as a bonus feat, and you count the number of Damnation feats you have as a number equal to half your level, rounding up. This does not stack with your actual number of damnation feats.

Rakdos Cultist: (Suggested Classes: Bloodrager, Bard)
Benefit: The cult of Rakdos provides services in all things entertainment and debauchery, a pastime which demons quite enjoy, experienced followers of the cult know that a good performance can always catch a demon's attention. Once per day, make a perform check and name a Summoning spell whose spell level is No more than half your level (minimum 1), Make a Perform check with a DC equal to (15+2x The spells level), if you succeed, you successfully cast that summoning spell, which must summon a creature with the Daemon, Demon or Devil Subtype. On a roll of natural one, Your performance was so awful that the demon watching was offended, You still summon it as normal, but the creature is hostile to its summoner.

Grull Anarch: (Suggested Classes: Shifter, Barbarian)
Benefit: You hate the city, and the city hates you, your anger boils up and overflows when you fight, showing you greater strength through your rage. As a swift action, you may unleash your rage, you and your weapons count as 1 size greater than you currently are for determining damage, this lasts till the beginning of your next turn. You may do this a number of times a day equal to half your level, rounding up.

Selesnya Initiate: (Suggested Classes: Druid, Paladin)
Benefit: As an Agent of Selesnya, you strive to help and nurture those around you, helping to shield them from harm and recover their wounds. Once per day, as a Swift Action, you can touch one Adjacent Ally, and heal them a number of HP equal to your Charisma or Wisdom Modifier times half your level, rounded up.

Orzhov Representative: (Suggested Classes: Cleric, Vigilante)
Benefit: Many people owe the syndicate, and many of those end up among the living dead, they still owe The Syndicate, however, and they are sure to give you their due. Once per day you may cast Command Undead as a spell-like ability, except that it is not subject to spell resistance.

Izzet Engineer: (Suggested Classes: Sorcerer, Alchemist)
Benefit: You are among the Mad Tinkerers of the Izzet League, people respect you as much as fear you for your innovations, which tend to not differentiate between friend and foe that well. Once per day, you can spend a full-round action tinkering to create a temporary mechanical invention with one of the following effects, Unless Otherwise stated, they all take a standard action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity to activate on your turn.
  • Grant a creature within 5ft for 1d4 Temporary HP + 1d4 per 3 HD you have obtained.
  • Damage a creature within 20ft for 1d6 + 1d6 per 3 HD you have obtained as a ranged touch attack.
  • Give yourself a 30ft Fly speed, this may be activated as a swift action, but you must land on the ground by the end of your turn or fall.

These effects last for 1 round per HD, not counting the round in which they were built.

Golgari Agent: (Suggested Classes: Wizard, Summoner)
Benefit: An agent of the undercity that has come to the streets, you are inured to the rot and toxins of the lower world, granting you greater fortitude. you do not have a chance to poison yourself when applying poison to weapons, and you have a bonus to saving throws against Poison and Disease equal to 1 + 1 per 4 HD you obtain.

Boros Legionnaire: (Suggested Classes: Fighter, Monk)
Benefit: You are a trained soldier and a gifted leader, able to position your allies to most benefit yourself as you do what you do best, kill the enemies of the pact. Once per day, you may use a swift action to obtain the Solo Tactics(Ex) Inquisitor class ability for a number of rounds equal to half your HD, rounded up.

Simic Scientist: (Suggested Classes: Alchemist, Druid)
Benefit: A Biomancer and a Tinkerer of flesh, you have long since twisted the flesh of others, and now, yourself, to your will, giving you a more robust Biology. You gain 1 RP +1 RP per 4 HD (6 at level 20), to spend using the Race Creation rules, augmenting your base race. This may not be spent to change your base type(but may gain a subtype), and it cannot be spent to change your basic racial ability spread. Whenever you gain an HD, you may change where these points are allocated.

Guildless: (Suggested Class: Any)
Benefit: As a Guildless living on the streets of Ravnica, you were exposed to the worst the streets had to offer, and were oppressed by the guilds, as most Guildless are. Despite this, you have risen up to lead your own life, without the help of the guilds.
You gain a second favoured class of your choice. Any level you would gain a level In a favoured class, you get to take 2 of the options available to you for your favoured class bonus, instead of just 1. Each option may only be picked once a level.
