XIII - Secrets of the Underworld

Night has fallen in Helix when the adventurers arrive, the glow of Lampert’s lantern and the lantern hung on the company’s cart having provided ample illumination for the trek.

Lights can be seen in the windows of many of the village’s homes. The Brazen Strumpet is apparently busy, the strains of a lute faintly audible from beyond the inn’s open door. The Mercenary Guild building is also well lit, as is the Shrine of St. Ygg, but the streets themselves are quiet.

The silhouette of Mazzahs’ spire, visible throughout Helix, is dark.

XIII - Secrets of the Underworld

Sir Dryvyk felt relieved to see his Squire's horse tied to a post near the Shrine, but there was a lurking fear as well.

"He made good time if he's back already... I sure hope there wasn't a problem," he said to Ol'Gib.

He begged leave from the party and dismounted his own horse next to that of Andryr. He glanced over the critter for clues of stress or hard riding before he entered the Shrine to seek his squire.

XIII - Secrets of the Underworld

On the way back to Helix, Barnabus asks Safherd what will become of her debt with the demise of its owner. He also informs her that while there is no frogling bounty, she could do worse than entering into their employ. He will prove somewhat evasive if pressed on the mortality rate of their hirelings.

"Higher than Grak's, right? That's what matters," he will swear when pressed further.

Deeming that Mazzahs would be most severe with them were they to gamble away secrets lost to time or even just flaunt those same secrets to curry favor with pony-tailed bar maids, he sees if he can find or rouse their patron.
