I understand.

I realized I should ask if you'd like me to generate the character while it's just us in here, or if you think I should wait for some others to make it in.

We've got a lot of Millers in here. :)

The question is, are Vicky and Bob related?

I'll be able to put in a character sheet once it's unlocked. I might toss it into the description until then, and I should get in a post tonight.

Bob Miller a bit of  OOC Info

Yes! Incidentally, I use the last name Miller for many WoD characters, including most recently, Leonard Miller, a Thinblood living isolated from his family in Las Vegas, Nevada. So, maybe there's another Miller lurking in the shadows somewhere. :)

I think Vicky being Bob's college-age daughter or niece is a great idea. We can chat over PM if you like/our GM prefers.

Hey Bob,

Would there be any reason your character spent time in the DA's office in the last three years or would there be any reason he spent time in the DOJ building where the DAs office is located?

OOC Chat: A Quiet talk in a tavern

If the DA was particularly persistent, Bob might be called in again to recount his story about the gang case that resulted in almost a whole squad being found culpable of corruption, trafficking, evidence tampering and other acts. Bob was found innocent of all charges but the circumstances surrounding him in relation to the case are murky to everyone. He didn't testify for the prosecution so there was no deal in place to obtain that verdict. Potentially, as retribution for not being more cooperative, he was demoted from Detective 2nd to 3rd class and the DA could have been responsible in part for that.

He could also be the liaison between DA investigators and the department, assisting the DA investigators when available. Given his two career failures, this would either be unlikely or a mandate from his sergeant as a duty no one else wants.

Cool. Andrea is the DAs personal assistant and if you've met with her or been around more than once or twice, then she will remember you. So, which scenario would you prefer? I like the second one as it would increase the number of times they have been in contact with each other. She's one of those people that remembers everyone's birthday and wishes you happy birthday if it's close.

Re: OOC Chat: A Quiet talk in a tavern

I am thinking it would make sense for Andrea to own a pistol as well as have access to guns if she went home (not that she'll do that tonight). I'm just wondering if that's acceptable or if there was some kind of something I needed to buy at character creation to make that legal.  I figure as a small town girl moving to a big city from the farm her dad ensured she had a gun. Sister too, probably.

She does have two dots in firearms.

Night,

You are ok with her having a hand gun?

It wouldn't be because of the supernatural, but because her father, a traditional farming guy with a healthy suspicion of those who live in the big city insisted so that she could 'protect' herself.

OOC Chat: A Quiet talk in a tavern

Yes. I can definitely see that happening, but I don't know that Andrea would have gone out and purchased a pistol, just kept whatever her father gave her.

To humor her father, I do imagine her keeping a gun in her apartment. So, she has a shotgun (if night is ok with it) with both shot and bullets available to her in her apartment. I think a shotgun makes more sense. It is something that Dad would have multiple of on the farm and more fitting for protecting your home, due to the closer range, than a rifle.

I think that this will give her a perfect excuse to acquire another gun and I also think that I could use her allies merit to get one fast or even get one on the DL.

Eileen can be really quick or maybe Vicky could be insistent on wanting to check in on her roommate to jump to university first. The animals lead into what Night has planned and I'm hoping the Yorkshire Rock killer can be worked in either separately or as the same perpetrator.

But right now, it's been more about emotional throughlines and I just want to be aware of everyone and their home turf or environment where they shine in the roll sense also.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't a lab that is working with anthrax have heightened security requirements? Locking doors and specimen cases? Alarm systems? Clean rooms? Guards? Certainly the lab would have to be a stand alone for ventilation and I doubt lower classes or even undergrads would be doing research involving anthrax. Right?

Undergraduates certainly wouldn't, but it's already established that post-graduates also study and research in the same spaces (this isn't entirely uncommon here in the states, I'm uncertain about the UK). Since we haven't actually seen the other lab at all, any requirement for anthrax research could be in place.

It seems likely that there would be restricted access to the lab, or the part of the lab, with anthrax, yes.

Safety and security standards are sometimes not all they're cracked up to be, though. Remember those Greenpeace activists who walked into a nuclear plant a few years back? And the 85 year old nun who got into a nuclear weapons plant? Those two cases were infamous for how easy it was to get in.

OOC Chat: A Quiet talk in a tavern

I will take some time to go through the old posts. I believe we left it open though for the explanation of the corpses to be both wrapped up with Red or Red took advantage of the confusion in the area with the corpses to further his own agenda.

Speaking of that, this is the last I'd had an idea of for plot or direction. Since we've been playing so far without the strictest of boundaries, I just wanted to put it out there. You can use this or not :)

Red wants to meet up with the gang because he's trying to hunt down the vampire responsible for turning him. Red is a revenant and control is increasingly slipping. He's trying to create a quid pro quo situation. Andrea is sought after by Red for the purpose of surreptitiously putting a flash drive into the DA's personal computer to open a window where a confrontation will be made inevitable for Red and this mystery vamp to Red's favor. Think like Homeland Security for a day or two, enough of an authority that the DA would be compelled to mobilize the city to hunt for Red. It needs to be limited or it could trace back to Red and doubt gets cast on Andrea possibly, which makes her useless for potential shenanigans down the line.

Without knowing the full implications of the Vigil, they may or may not be making a bargain with the devil by presumably going along with his plan. There could be an opportunity to go with Vamp No. 2 instead of Red. No. 2 could have more to do with the corpses.

Eileen and Yorkshire would be more jazz at this point. I would welcome help fleshing that out as we play.

I have no desire to control anything. This is just where I saw things going and so far as Yorkshire, he's the bugaboo that is Bob's white whale that can be used at any point.

OOC Chat: A Quiet talk in a tavern

Oh my! I had no idea about the OOC stuff.

Here's what is going on IC as far as Andrea knows: Yorkshire kidnapped 6 ladies and have their IDs and tongues to Red who in turn have them to Tripp to put in some strung up cats. Then Red sends his lackey Tripp with some more dead animals to the Bio lab at the U to make another scene. We caught him in the act.  Also, Red was at Andreas apartment and stole her earring, which he returned in the confrontation he had with Bob and also in which he claimed he and Yorkshire we're different people.

One way we could go is that the only solid lead is Red's connection to Yorkshire and if we want to see if we can find more clue to Red we can examine the evidence he sent to the lab(animal bodies) which we didn't do before. Perhaps we decide Eileen's place will keep, but the lab scene will be crawling with cops soon and we ought to go back?

I think maybe we just approached it in too sandbox a style for you? But if that's the case then I think it would help us to have GM posts that would give us leads and directions so we aren't filling in so much? Honestly I have very much enjoyed the game so far and what we have been playing. I'm sorry if it's gotten off the beaten path. Players will sometimes do that, which is honestly why I admire GMs a lot, dealing with what players throw at them and changing their plans or learning to swing at the wild balls and field them anyway.

Are you interested in working with the other part of the story we've started building (Yorkshire and Kat's missing person case) or were you hoping we would drop that all together?

Re: OOC Chat: A Quiet talk in a tavern

I presumed complete retcon. If I'm wrong, there will be a welcome mea culpa and gratitude. And a hearty rewrite.

Hey, how are you doing?

What sounds good---complete retcon?

OOC Chat: A Quiet talk in a tavern

Hi Night. Glad you're still around. It had been so long that I wasn't sure. I'm sorry but I don't really want to retcon and it's just gotten too confusing to figure out where to go from here and what you want and what we want. I am going to be bowing out of the game. Thank you for letting us sandbox for a while. It was fun.

OOC Chat: A Quiet talk in a tavern

Hi guys,

this looks strangely quiet. I'm new blood burning to play. My character is a police pathologist who has started to wonder about the things he gets to see in the morgue.

How many of you are still around?
