Sorin waited his turn patiently. When he stood at the front he took the mallet, adjusted his grip, and swung with all his might.

Quite a few stepped up for this contest, some flexing their muscles trying to impress the ladies and others just hoping for a bit of luck. Dantrollin was one of the earliest contestants and did fairly well. His strike didn't have quite the power he had intended. Perhaps he wsa distracted by a lovely dwarven lass passing by or Tusker snorting.

Many tried after and many walked away quite red faced, chased along by jeers. Sorin stepped up and got a good grip on the hammer, bringing it down with quite a bit of power. There were ooo's and ahhh's as the ball went up and up almost touching the bell but then falling just shy. A few groans could be heard but he received a lot of cheers, no few of the ladies batting their lashes at him as he stepped away for the other contestants.

Finally Tobar stepped up for his turn. He hadn't done so well in the Iron Gut contest but with a soothing potion to clear his faculties he seemed intent on saving some face.  He was rewarded this time by a powerful swing that sent the ball upward. A loud clang rang out as it hit the bell and the crowd roared.

"And there you have it folks! What a great display of strength," the blacksmith of Sandpoint called out over the crowd.  He handed Tobar a small pouch with 5 gold pieces and shook his hand saying "Well done indeed." He then gave a pouch to Sorin and Dantrollin and shook both of their hands. "That was a close one but still good enough for a prize." Sorin received 3 gold pieces and Dantrollin 1 gold piece.

Sorin stood off to the side, and clapped respectfully when Tobar rang the bell. He accepted his prize gratefully, and once it was done glanced at the dwarf who’d won the smaller prize out of passing familiarity, but paused as he remembered where he knew the face from.

“Dantrollin Trotter, could that be you?”

Dantrollin turned to look to see who was calling to him, and gladly he greeted the man, "Well I'll be! If it isn't the master tracker Sorin! It's been a spell since last I saw you. You didn't bring no more trouble to the woods did ya'?" His question was asked with a big smile on his face and a little laugh, he was obviously joking.

"I wasn't sure it was you swinging that Hammer, but now I see it was. You almost won! You came closer than a buzzard to a fresh kill!" He said with a laugh. "How ya' doin'? You ain't been getting up to no trouble, have ya'?" He asked with a pat on Sorin's arm, and a big grin.

Sorin laughed with Dantrollin, returning the clap in his arm with another. “I can promise you I haven’t brought a single bit of trouble to the woods, but I sure did end a fair bit in it. They always make for the trees, I have no idea why.”

“I’ve been doing fine though, nothing special. Just doing my duties. Matter of fact, I only made it today because I was returning a bounty. Horse thief, tried to make it to Magnimar. To his credit he got about halfway, but I got him in the end. Gave himself away with a cooking fire, he did. Enough about me though, how about you, what brings you here?”

"Only coincidence!" He said, "My boots had been wearin' a bit thin, my big toe was poking out the end of 'em! So I had come into town to buy me a new pair of shit-kickers." He lifted up one of his feet to show off his new boots. "Got these puppies about 2 days ago. Then I heard all these folks 'round here talking about this shindig, and I reckoned that I'd just hunker down here a spell and see what all the fuss was about. Glad I did too! This is one rollicking good time!" He said with a laugh and a smile.

Then he added, "This maybe wasn't my game, but ya' should have seen me over at the eat 'n run! Let me tell ya', I can stack back some pie!" And he gave a hearty laugh as he patted his belly.

“I’m sure you did my friend, just like I’m sure Tusker there could have put everyone else to shame.” Sorin said with a nod, looking around as he spoke.

“I’m glad I decided to stick around, this is quite the celebration. Can’t relax too much, but you know what they say about all work and no play. What do you say we look around, see what there is to see in Sandpoint before the big events?”

Dantrollin laughed, "Yeah, I reckon you're right about Tusker! This chunker likes to eat and run!" He grabbed one of Tusker's tusks and playfully shook the boar's head. Though the boar seemed a little tense, this action by Dantrollin seemed to shake the boar out of his tense stance a little.

"Yeah, we can mosey around. This here is a nice little town, I'm sure there's plenty of places to go stomping to 'round here." Then he said to the boar, "Tusker, kinni pidama!" And tapped his thigh and Tusker walked right to Dantrollin's side and waited, watching him, to see where the dwarf would go. "Where to friend?"
