Are we abandoning the experiment thread?

No. I will post in it. For the slow times that people want something to do. Since it has no posting requirement.

My bad. I always get the sizes of towns/Villages/Cities confused.

Re: OOC: The Tavern

As special note for the heroes with spells.

Go in and pick your trappings. This is important because creatures can be immune to certain types of spells. So picking them is just as important as having the spell itself.

In the original Forgotten Realms gray box, there is a mention of an orc tribe that numbers 50,000. That's not an orc tribe. That's an orc nation.

If you want real fun though, see really poor statements of what some monsters weigh in any game.

The Great Dragon Dunkelzhan in Shadowrun was 48 meters long, 17 of it tail. His weight was given at 2000 kg which is a joke at best.
Scale up any lizard of similar dimensions, and it will be WAY more than that.

Savage pathfinder did the same thing with orcs height. They are in the drawing taller than elves but the text says different.

OOC: This is great time to figure out languages. Has everyone picked their languages for their characters?

As I went to post I realized I had no place for languages on the sheet and hadn't picked them all, lol. But they are on there now. =)

OOC: The Tavern

So I am going to use the following for languages:

[Language unknown: <pe>]

When there is a creature that talks in a specific racial language that allows those people who are setup correctly to see the the language while the rest can not.

Here's an example:

The goblin says "[Language unknown: Olenre Trantehation]"

Those people without the language goblin should see gibberish. Those who have goblin tagged for their language an read it.

Keep in mind that, only two people had languages picked so I added those people. Everyone else needs to pick them.

All the languages are in lower case. Common please just use plain text. I don't want everyone coding their language text for common which in most cases will be the language of most of the game.

I edited my post with the goblin language. I think I did it right. You have to choose the language group and NOT the Private to <language> or it works differently.

This is correct. Anyone with that language group will be able to read the text while others will just see none sense.

FYI everyone I am new to languages but this way seems to work well.
just type your speech.

highlight it and then select insert a private line: at the bottom

select language group and select the language.

Ditto, I hadn't even thought about it, I picked some I thought the character might have studied.

Re: OOC: The Tavern

Sorry for double post, I'm here I just have no idea what to do in either thread -

Experimental - Cool, awesome, we took a few down, but I need a "reaction shot", is the way clear to rescue a hostage, are they about to swarm us or did we just seriously diminish their numbers, etc.

Real story - Serafina's going to act very differently depending on whether she believes in that illusion or not.

We are getting to this. I want to make sure everyone has their languages before they post.

In reply to Serafina (msg # 75):

well Morton might have been the one to have spotted the dragon but his actions after the crowd disperse isn't that of someone who seems to be very concerned about it perhaps that helps you realise there might be something more going on.... especially as he's now casually holding the door to the shop open for the group to go in

How do we know how many languages we can speak -- do we have to take a skill for each or use the Linguist Edge?

What languages are available in the setting?

My character is a cleric of a dwarven god, so I would like to take at least some dwarf tongue. Is there a common tongue, regional, racial, others?

In reply to Sigrun Goll (msg # 78):

Page 34 of the core book.

LANGUAGES
On Golarion, most individuals speak several languages. Instead of languages being skills, heroes in Savage Pathfinder either know a language or they don't. Characters start with Common plus half their Smarts die in other languages, (including the native language(s)
listed in their Ancestry). The most common Golarion languages are listed below.

And then it lists languages below.

Oh...I need to drop a language then. I thought you got the languages listed then the extras like in Pathfinder.
Maybe it was that way in an earlier version of SWADE PF.

I mean, that's how I read it?  Like I check the Human entry and I get Common, and I get half the smarts die more.

It's just the Extra Languages variant rule with a small modification.

Re: OOC: The Tavern

That is how it is stated and how I interpret it, but if you increase your Smarts, you get an additional language as well which is different than the base SWADE rules with the Multiple Languages Setting Rule.

It makes it like raising your Intelligence in Pathfinder. You get skill points and Starting Languages retroactively.
