Little Problems

The interior of the ship was full of light.  While the guest and crew converse, wind cuts through the night outside.  It was dark, the moon a mere sliver in the sky.

The sound of wind and water is cut by a loud growl outside.

"Ship!  SHIP!  Are you there?!"

...

Outside, on the dock, were two people.  One, a small halfling earthfoot with shaggy hair and metal, layered armor.  Aside a taller figure with feline features.  "We need to get aboard!  Quickly, quickly!"

The talker, the shorter of the duo, was already looking for rigging... anything he could use to try and get aboard.

Little Problems

"Ay-up, sounds like we've got visitors," Rosa says as she dabs her mouth with a napkin. She heads out on deck, grabbing a lantern on the way. She sees the two people on the dock and her first thought is, a dog and a cat, how cute. I wonder what their parents think?

She looks beyond them to make sure they're not being chased down by a mob, then eyes them up some more. They don't look harmless, but they don't seem threatening either. She gestures for Hugh & Dolph to get the gangplank ready, but not to deploy it just yet. She says to the newcomers, "I'm the captain. Who are you? What's got you rushing about in such a hurry?"

The Darkmaiden's Dance is a well-made, fine-looking ship. The outer hull is made out of a sleek, black wood, while the inner timbers are from a polished warmer redwood, some of which has been subtly carved into geometric shapes or comically gruesome figures. The deck is scrubbed clean, the ropes are tightly coiled, and the sails are neatly furled.

How Annoying.

Although Tylluan hears the shouts from the dock, he doesn't immediately react. Instead he continues eating his food. I wonder what new annoyance this is. Can I not finish a meal without some interruption? After a few more bites, he lets out a frustrated sigh and steps outside to see what is happening. I had best see what is happening. I want to leave this boring place, and I won't tolerate anything that prevents me from doing so, now that I've paid good coin for passage.

He steps up to the railing and stares at the mismatched pair below. Well, this is an odd pairing. What sort of threat has thrown them together, I wonder. Tylluan cranes his neck and looks down the dock, toward the island itself. His keen night vision pierces the darkness, to see if there is any apparent threat that might endanger the ship, and therefore his means of leaving the island.

People, yup, and a bird too.

The young feline woman cocked her head to the side a moment, then lowered her hood and looked up to the one that announced that she was the ship's captain. "I am Murleena the Shadowcat, Moft here..." She said as she thumbed towards the dog. "...has need of you and your crew to search for a vessel that has kidnapped some friends of his." She stated matter of factly. "He has hired me for the same purrpose because of an uncanny knack I have that's native to my kind."

The she looked towards Moft a moment, then back to the Captain. "He can tell you the rest."

"Kidnapped, you say? Well, that is bad news. I'm not sure I can help you though; I already have a paying passenger and we're heading south to Doghelm." She frowns. She would like to help, but she already has a course plotted. She asks, "Which way was the ship heading? If it was heading south  we'll be happy to help you, but otherwise you'll have to come to some sort of arrangement with him." She gestures to the big black bird that followed her out of the galley.
