Some Minor House Rules

Posting Conventions

  1. Posting Frequency: Every 72 hours or more.
  2. In Character: Post current in-character actions in the present tense.
  3. Dialog: Pick a color for your character and stick to it. Your spoken dialog is "Your Color, and Bold, in Double Quotes"; telepathic communication is ~Your Color, and Bold, in Tildes~; unspoken internal monologue is Your color, italicized. This is critical to my ability to read and understand your posts.
  4. Names: When referring to a PC or NPC by name, put their name in their color.
  5. Out of Character: OOC communication, and only OOC communication, is ORANGE. Die rolls and game mechanics are orange.

Game System Modifications

We’re changing as little as possible in order to preserve the usefulness of the Star Wars 5e website at: https://www.sw5e.com

  1. Backgrounds: Characters receive two (2) Backgrounds at character creation, and all of the benefits (proficiencies, feats, features) of both.
  2. Humans: Humans receive a third Background at character creation. This replaces their +2  ability score increase and species proficiency.
  3. Multiclassing:
    • Ability Score Increases: are based on Character Level, not Class Level. Fighters and Operatives gain their bonus ASIs at their normal class levels.
    • Extra Attack: Levels in classes that grant the Extra Attack ability stack for the purposes of gaining the Extra Attack ability. If the character has 3 levels of Fighter and the Multiclass Improvement feat one-half of non-Fighter levels stack for the purposes of gaining the Greater Extra Attack ability.
    • Spellcasting: Consular levels count as 1 level for Force powers, Sentinel and Guardian levels count as 2/3 level, all other classes count as 1/3 level, rounded up. Engineer levels count as 1 level for Tech powers, Scout levels count as 2/3 level, all other classes count as 1/3 level, rounded up. Force/Tech maximum Power level is not capped by class level.

  4. Death & Dying: When you reach 0 hit points, you're incapacitated for the rest of the combat. You can talk to someone who's very close to you, communicate telepathically, etc. but you can't take actions or use (other) Force powers. There are no death saves; you stabilize automatically and will survive the combat no matter what, unless you put your life on the line.
  5. Putting Your Life on the Line: At any time in combat, including after being reduced to zero hit points, you can declare that you are willing to fight to the death:
    • You may roll a number of d6s equal to your Proficiency Bonus and immediately gain the benefits of taking a short rest; Force users may regain a number of Force points equal to their Proficiency bonus plus their maximum Power level, up to their maximum. This allows you to recover from being incapacitated (and stand up from prone as a non-action) and provides the following benefits for the remainder of the combat:
      • You take half-damage from all sources of damage.
      • You gain Advantage on all saving throws.
      • You may add your Proficiency bonus to any unarmed, weapon, or power damage you inflict.
    • If you are reduced to zero hit points at any point during this combat, you are absolutely and irretrievably dead.
