[OOC] Because every game needs one

Good day to you, too.

What Jeanette and I are doing is something I did with some of my groups back in college.
I have a draft of a run in my mind. It gets fleshed out along the way and the player is encouraged to add to some descriptions from time to time (and to guess what is going on).
If any of this is either cooler than what I had in mind or is interesting to add some more to the story (or another side story) I'll gladly take that into account and change my plot accordingly (most times it's just adding something to it).
It probably sounds chaotic but so far it always worked and everyone had fun.
It doesn't save a character from facing consequences of the decisions he made, though ;)

Oh, hello! :D So nice to have you here!

I’ve used this concept myself, too. Had SO MUCH FUN with it and it resulted in a story that turned out much more intense than either of us could have thought up on our own. I do think it needs players who are willing to put their ego aside for the sake of the story. Then something truly magical can grow out of it. :)

That works well for one-on-one and small groups at times especially for introductions.

You can do a matrix perception check to see if there are any odd things out of sorts in the system - what are the conditions of the files; were they moved or deleted, is the date modified accurate to your own records or have they changed since then; is there a signature in the system; if the system had IC has that been disabled. You can look for a backdoor into the system that may still be active or any marks left on the host or any files.

You can check the files for any databombs that have been added or removed. Each file needs to be checked individually.

You can make a software test to check to see if the coding of the host/node has been changed.

That would all take some time even with the speed of the matrix but it is somewhere to start.

If you find a signature whether standard matrix (digital) or resonant you may be able to track it at a later time.

Hope that helps.

Did I seriously somehow miss to say thank you for this?! THANK YOU! That was very helpful for a newbie like me. :)

You're welcome. Another suggestion or two.

Without going into the mechanics and because it is better to ask forgiveness than to ask, it wouldn't be a bad idea to check your commlink, and hack all of your co-workers commlinks to double-check to see if their 'links have been compromised and that may have been part of the breach. Also, check their files. After all, you are providing site matrix security and that includes those assets as well.

But if it were me, I'd do your boss's first. As I am a curious type and in the game you can trace a signal (call) to see who is on the other line. Tap that signal and decrypt if needed so you can listen in. He seems to be a charmer and it never hurts to gain a bit more knowledge about those you work with and for.

Here are some YouTube video playlists on how SR5 systems work.

Hacking the Matrix: https://youtube.com/playlist?l...BPlr0DvyA-C8LhS9VcMx
Shadowrun in general: https://youtube.com/playlist?l...fhX7_ytYhqroSWpVMHYn
Magic in Shadowrun: https://youtube.com/playlist?l...cYkdzzs0zh3_dsmXTJlW

I also handed over lots of references to the GM that would be useful.

Most of what I gave you are just compilations of tables and rules in the books along with a couple flow charts to make some things more understandable.

callen:
The GM has two options that can be set. "variable width, word wrap on" generally keeps things in the window. I think, if you check, you'll see that in general for general forum posts there isn't a fixed width; instead, they fill up to the width of the window. This character sheet option does the same thing.

Could you see if there's such a setting for the character sheets, GM?
