We're using the 4th edition L5R game, and characters have to use the rules found in that edition.

No Spider Clan
No Colonies
Some canon character may be switched out.


When submitting a character, please write what Clan, and School they are, as well as the answers to the 20 questions.

My approach to character creation in L5R is usually to invest quite a bit in Rings from the initial XP. That will give you a better dice pool, and a better Insight, especially for those who aren't of the Courtier class. Those can derive reasonable benefit from Courtier and Etiquette 3.

Ancestors are nice, but not necessary.

Advantages and Disadvantages can be helpful in highlighting certain aspects of your character.

If you're familiar with the setting, and the rules, try and look forward, to what paths or Advanced School you might want to pursue, so you can start preparing for that. You don't have to, but if something catches your fancy, it's nice to be prepared.

Whether you're familiar with the setting or not, always feel free to ask me questions.

We're NOT using the Heritage tables.

If your character is unmarried, in the course of the game, there will be NPCs who will seek to marry your character off.
Please remember, since samurai marriages are usually used to cement alliances, your character might not have much say in whom she marries.
