When it becomes your turn, the man taking names directs you to one of the four tables currently being used by the interviewers a comfortable chair set across from the dark-robed man.  When you approach the table you can feel your skin tightening as if you were passing through an infinitely thin barrier, the sounds and going on's of the rather busy ground floor fading away to that of the murmurs of people three rooms away with closed doors between here and there.

"This is Acolyte Lucius, he has been hired for the day to cast Zone of Truth upon each table.  The first criteria for being considered for what is going to be a very lucrative venture is the acceptance of such magics.  Failure to acquiesce will result in the summary end of this negotiation.  Do you accept the spell?" The man asks.

Baelin pauses at the odd sensation that makes her skin prickle and the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end.  Her eyes instantly dart between the other two as though readying for an attack. Only after hearing the explanation does she give a tight-lipped nod. It's clear it takes effort for her to forcibly relax as she moves to take a seat. Even then, she shifts her shoulders slightly, clearly feeling uncomfortable in her skin at the moment.

"I accept."

The man watches as the zone of truth expands to encompass the two of them before giving a curt nod.  "Very good.  The first question I would ask of you is thus" the man says as he looks at a thick piece of card stock.  "You are on an expedition funded by our mutual benefactor.  While on your watch making a patrol of the perimeter of the encampment within the ruins you have traveled to you come upon a cache of gold and magic items.  If you were to help yourself to the sudden largess neither your party members nor our benefactor would know that there is treasure and magic to which they are owed a share.  What would you do?"  He asks simply.

Baelin's nose wrinkles as though a sour smell just filled it and she rolls her eyes. "This is a question?" She mutters under her breath, "And then people wonder why I prefer the company of animals."

Speaking aloud again, "I would inform my adventuring comrades of the discovery, of course. Riches are cheap indeed compared to trust and loyalty."

The man nods as he writes down with quill something sparked by her answer.  "You would be surprised how many candidates that question has invalidated.  Between those that refused to accept the Zone of Truth, coupled with those that thought they would be able to speak in a manner that would let them technically speak the truth while circumnavigating the enchantment. He says before adding. "Or maybe you wouldn't."

Pulling out an illuminated piece of vellum he unfurls it setting it in front of Baelin. "You happen upon the vault door to an abandoned Dwarven temple to Abadar.  The metal of the locking mechanisms had long since rusted and fused together making the only way to get into the treasure room being to destroy the door.   Upon the destruction of the door, you find that in addition to several thousand gold pieces in deposited treasure a Fruminious Bandersnatch has burrowed its way into the vault from behind and taken up residence in the cozy room.  What do you do?  The man asks giving the woman time to read up about the Bandersnatch and its abilities as reported by The Pathfinder Society.

Baelin takes the allotted time to read about the creature. Her brow furrows slightly and she closes her eyes to contemplate the dilemma. "I would attempt to communicate with the bandersnatch if at all possible. I see they are creatures of many areas, forests included, which is where I make my home."

Her eyes open as she sighs softly and shifts to sitting fully upright. "If he refused all attempts to calm him or see me as not being an enemy, I truly cannot answer the question without knowing the abilities of the other adventurers. Or is this supposing I came upon the poor trapped creature while alone?"

The examiner writes down a note.  "Consider yourself to be part of a four-man group, with each person able to bring to bear a similar amount of power, force, and leverage as you into this situation."  They respond with in answer.

With a quick roll of her eyes and a slightly disappointed sigh, Baelin clarifies, "I need not know the amount of force or power. I would not wish to harm the poor, trapped creature unless absolutely necessary. Rather, I ask to know if my compatriots and I could lure him through the ruined doorway and lead him to the exit of temple. He may be unable to go back out the way he came in and who knows whether or not there is sufficient prey for the bandersnatch, lost through no fault of his own."

The examiner listens and tilts his head a bit, turning to write down on the notecard itself several notes while lightly frowning.  <red><cursive>"I believe there has been a bit of a miscommunication here Ms. Baelin.  The Bandersnatch in this scenario is no lost or trapped kitten.  Nor is it ensorcelled to guard the vast quantities of gold and other treasure in the dilapidated vault.  It has by whatever means available to it made this vault its nest.

Understanding finally dawns upon Baelin and there is even a touch of red by her cheekbones. "Ah." Pushing the embarrassment aside, she quickly responds, "I would test the creature's attachment to the gold pieces by approaching the nearest pile of them. If there were any sign of resistance or aggression by the bandersnatch, I would abandon the attempt and immediately leave."

The examiner nods as he writes notes for the answer given.   "Now, as you may have been informed, our mutual benefactor has come into some information, information that can lead to lost magics, knowledge, and treasures that have not seen the light of day since the golden age of the old Empire.  If you are chosen discretion will not only be advised but will need to be enforced.  Can you be trusted to keep the source of your wealth and your actions close to the chest until given permission to advertise your exploits?

"Yes, of course." The words are out of the druid's mouth almost before the question finished, even as her mind lingers on the interesting creature they just discussed.

The examiner nods as he writes his final note down.  "Thank you very much for your time, enjoy the rest of your day and the hospitality of The Crown. A determination will be made later today and you will be informed of your success of failure." He says in a clear yet polite dismissal.
