Chapter 4: Arcane Chambers

Area 12.
You climb through the arch gate, the portal, into a new level of the Undermountain.
Everyone make a Wisdom Save DC13, no guidance or any other boons, this is a straight wisdom save. If you fail you have the effects of the slow spell for 24 hours. If you save you gain these boons: you gain the effects of freedom of movement spell and knock spell for 24 hours.
You exit the gate at the west side of the hallway. These hallways are lined with crumbling stone tables and shelves upon which rest sturdy dwarven anvils, whetstones, tongs, hammers, chisels, and other tools. As you can see on the map, you can take hallways a few directions: 8, 17, or 20a.
The halls here are cut with magical precision, the stone has been polished and acid stained white. Goblin graffiti covers everything, if you can read it most of it translated to cuss words and “Praise Yek” “Yek is King” “Hail Yek” “For a good time call Huga” “Huga sucks, call Francine instead.” The Zhentarim and Xanathar Guild symbols have also been graffitied onto the walls in several places.

Chapter 4: Arcane Chambers

As soon as Devan steps out of the portal, he moves slowly to his pockets to grab his notepad,"Ah, looks like my theory of secret faction wars rings true." he says really slow and starts writing on his notepad in a relatively normal pace. Either his writing it too fast in slow motion or his just fooling you, probably the former.

13:16, Today: Devan Crier rolled 10 using 1d20+2.  Wis Save.

Chapter 4: Arcane Chambers

Andromeda stepped through the portal and stood up straighter, feeling oddly fantastic of a sudden!  She spun in a circle with arms outstretched and said, “Wow!  Does anyone else feel… spectacular, of a sudden?  I feel unstoppable!  …Devan?  Are you well?”  The druidess observed that Devan’s speech was strangely sluggish and she could actually see his pencil moving when he wrote.  Something was definitely wrong!

She assessed each of her companions to check whether they felt as fantastic as her or were dragged down by this strange magical lethargy, then shook her head.  “No, no.  This will not do at all!  Hold still just a moment, my dears.”  With the celestial jewel clasped in her palm, Andromeda waved it near each afflicted companion and bathing them in restorative starlight that drained away the lethargic curse.

Can I donate my extra 13 over the DC to Devan and Onyx?  Lol:
  • 21:51, Today: Andromeda rolled 26 using 1d20+7.  Wis save.

Failing that, cast Dispel Magic on Devan, then on Onyxclaw, and if Travic happens to fail the Wis save then on him, too!  Slow is a 3rd level effect, so it should go away automatically?

Chapter 4: Arcane Chambers

It doesn’t work. It seems these magical effects are the result of a higher level of magic perhaps, and it is incurable unfortunately. Only time will tell how permanent this is.

Chapter 4: Arcane Chambers

Onyxclaw stepped through the portal and felt like a huge weight had been tied to him. The kobold was curious, but he seemed to move slower, talk slower, even look slower.

He looked at the portal and snarled (slowly). "Portal.....magic.....strong." his mind felt sharp but he knew he could do nothing.

Even slowed he began looking around.

In reply to Onyxclaw (msg # 5):

Travic is clearly slowed as well as he drags himself through the portal.

"We can...hide in...safety zone...while we...wait for...side effect to...wear off." He slowly says to the others.

ooc-08:09, Today: Travic Televentor rolled 6 using 1d20+4.  Save.

Chapter 4: Arcane Chambers

Devan was a bit confused as everyone started talking in high speed. But then had a frightening revelation, the world was moving so fast that time is moving at an increased pace to follow suit,"Hmm... Must..not have.. been affected cause of.. new found.. abilities." he says, then looks toward the two others unaffected by this sudden fast-forwarding time intervals,"I... concur...... Sides, I'd like to at least report my findings to the press right now." he says that last part under his breathe in a normal pace, meaning he said that in a fast pace so his words won't be leaked out so easily.

Chapter 4: Arcane Chambers

Travic, assuming everyone agrees, focuses the ring upon the ground. The earth moves aside, and forms a stairwell leading to a newly created underground cave. Formed from Travic's Doa stone magic, the underground bunker will be sealed off from the only opening above once he reshapes the rock around the group.

Then, briefly in utter darkness and stuffy air, Travic casts another spell-and a bubble forms around the entire group. The stone forms a comfortable room for about 10 people. It is well lit, with cots made of sand. Easy to put a bedroll on.

Even better, there is a stone table with fresh food and drink, seemingly just cooked from somewhere. Of course, there is a private room for people who need to wash up and use the privy.

"Lasts...8...hours. Will...recast then.
And...once...more...afterwards."

He gestures again, and suddenly they all seem to be on a beach near the ocean. After about six seconds, the ocean can be heard, although not touched or smelt.

ooc-using a combo of mold earth, ritual leomund's tiny hut, spell shape stone and create food and drink. in 1 hour I will get all spell slots back, thus being ready to cast all over again. Will also use silent image and minor illusion to change surroundings or for TV watching. Will use prestidigatation to make food  & water tasty rather than standard bland create food and water.

Chapter 4: Arcane Chambers

Andromeda was dismayed by the affliction that affected her comrades, and all the more so because she was unable to dispel it.  Looking sheepish, she said, "I am sorry I was unable to help, my friends.  Rest well and we will see you in fighting form again very soon!"

Travic proceeded to magically open up a stairwell down into the floor, and the druidess descended in hesitant wonder.  The steps led down to a bare cave, and as the elf set to sealing up the stone behind them Andromeda fretted, "Are you certain we will be safe entombed in this way, mister Travic...?"  Fear set in as the darkness fell, until the lights came on again and replaced the stuffy tomb with a lavishly-appointed beachside paradise!  Andromeda gasped with delight at the new accommodations, "How very splendid!  Compliments on the clever magical artistry, Travic."  She recognized that the beach vista must of course illusory, but she didn't care because it was just nice!

After taking food and drink, Andromeda seated herself comfortably on the beach and set to reflecting upon the day's adventure and recording her musings in her journal.

New Cosmic Omen after the rest is Weal!  Saving this to grant allies +1d6 to future Wis saves, heheh:
  • 10:33, Today: Andromeda rolled 4 using 1d6.  Cosmic Omen even/odd.

Made a few adjustments to prepared spells, also.

Chapter 4: Arcane Chambers

In reply to Andromeda (msg # 9):

Travic grinned at Andromeda, not really wanting to speak. After all, the words came so slowly due to portal sickness. Still, he had other options.

He gestured again, and created a band of musicians. Which after a few seconds began to play a relaxing slow tune to aid in rest. All illusionary of course, as they could only be seen and heard.

(OOC-using my at will silent image and minor illusion for sound.)

Chapter 4: Arcane Chambers

Onyxclaw, moving slowly, follows the others downstairs and began resting. The kobold was still injured and the rest would do him good. When they did, he spent his time sleeping, recuperating his health and eating, contemplating how he came to be here

Chapter 4: Arcane Chambers

Devan follows the others in a slow motion, once he found a seat. He began to work on his writing, seeing as he'll be here for a while, he takes his time writing up his story. Once his done, he grabs something in his bad slowly and then slowly form his hands into a square, and with a click and a flash of light, the paper he wrote disappears like it wasn't even their,"That... Should... Do it...... For the day." he says, seating back and slowly stretching his arms.
