Chapter 8a: Party Split

Harria asks for Andromeda and Roxy to confide with her in the dark vampire coffin room. She forces all the men to leave, but Jhank is welcome to stay as well. Girl power!

Chapter 8a: Party Split

Andromeda set the celestial jewel aglow before the doors shut, illuminating the darkened coffin chamber with a projected map of the astral cosmos.  Once privacy had been obtained for girl-talk she turned to Harria and said, "I know we've only just met, miss Harria, but are you okay?"  She looked at the woman who still acted like a vampire with fake teeth and all, then offered, "If you need any help escaping then I'd be happy to oblige!  The lift up to the Yawning Portal isn't far, and I'm sure any of Waterdeep's theaters would be glad to have a talented new leading lady!"

Insight check on whatever Harria does next, just because:
  • 12:12, Today: Andromeda rolled 20 using 1d20+4.  Insight.

Chapter 8a: Party Split

"Yeah, is everything okay?" asked Roxanne once the door was closed, echoing Andromeda. And like Andromeda, Roxanne was beginning to get a little leery of the continued vampire cosplay. "Ugh, I feel like there is something in my nose. Is there something in my nose? A green bat hanging in the cave?" Roxanne fished out her steel mirror to check for boogers while also subtlety checking to make sure Harria had a reflection.

Chapter 8a: Party Split

Andromeda shrank back in terror at the sudden attack from Harria, who turned out to be a real, actual vampire!  The druidess struggled to free herself from the undead thespian's grasp but couldn't manage it despite her best efforts.  Her form then darkened into a silhouetted window into the cosmos, joints picked out in glowing starlight to form the constellation of a mythic archer.  Despite being grappled Andromeda managed to loose a glowing arrow at point-blank range into Harria's chest to sear her with burning radiance.

The druidess cried out indignantly, "We wanted to help you, you, you...!"  She seemed to be trying to call the vampire a bad name, but couldn't bring herself to say something mean, despite her life being threatened!

  • Acrobatics Escape fails with a 5
  • Bonus action Wild Shape - Starry Archer form!  Make a ranged spell attack when activating the form, at disadvantage for being within 5 feet of an enemy.  Still hit with 24 vs. AC for 8 radiant damage!

13:38, Today: Andromeda rolled 8 using 1d8+4.  Starry archer damage.
13:36, Today: Andromeda rolled 24 using 2d20+7, dropping the highest dice only with rolls of 19,17.  Starry Archer attack (disadvantage).
13:34, Today: Andromeda rolled 5 using 1d20+2.  Dex(Acrobatics) escape attempt.

Chapter 8a: Party Split

"Plot twist!" exclaimed Roxanne as she dropped her steel mirror and drew a handaxe in the same swift motion. Spinning fluidly, the dwarf cast a hunter's mark on Harria and struck the actress with her blade, slicing deep.

"I think you will find us to be quite powerful already. You damn-pire!" she said, finishing Andromeda's insult for her. Even as she spoke, Roxanne's swarm shifted into a sea of silkworms that all used their strands to pull Harria toward Roxanne (and off of Andromeda) with surprising strength.

Bonus Action: Cast Hunter's Mark on Harria.
Action: Attack Harria. Hits AC 16 for 16 non-magical slashing damage. Harria needs to make a DC 12 strength save or be pulled up to 15 feet toward Roxanne (hopefully to the other side of Roxanne, putting the dwarf between Andromeda and Harria.)
Free: draw weapon as part of attack, knowledge check about vampires (21), use swarm to try and move Andromeda, talk.

Note: Undead are my favored enemy.

Also, I have advantage on saving throws I make to avoid being charmed or frightened or to end those conditions on me.

21:53, Today: Roxanne Drubble rolled 16 using 2d6+4.  Handaxe damage.

21:49, Today: Roxanne Drubble rolled 20,21 using 1d20+2,1d20+2.  Religion check with advantage.

Chapter 8a: Party Split

She saves.
Knowledge check results:
Regeneration. The vampire regains 10 hit points at the start of its turn if it has at least 1 hit point and isn't in sunlight or running water. If the vampire takes radiant damage or damage from holy water, this trait doesn't function at the start of the vampire's next turn.
Spider Climb.
The vampire can't enter a residence without an invitation from one of the occupants.
Harmed by Running Water.
Stake to the Heart.
Sunlight Hypersensitivity.
Lastly, she shows up in mirrors. Perhaps that's not a dnd vampire thingy, or maybe they can't see their own reflection is all.

Harria bites Andromeda deep on the throat. Remarkably it is both excruciatingly painful and feels amazing at the same time.

She pulls her head away to look up at Roxy, "Come on, think about it! The three of us! We would be unstoppable!" Blood oozes down her chin.

Andromeda bit ac19: 6 piercing damage plus 7 necrotic damage. The target's hit point maximum is reduced by an amount equal to the necrotic damage taken, and the vampire regains hit points equal to that amount. The reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest. The target dies if this effect reduces its hit point maximum to 0.

Chapter 8a: Party Split

"Pass. I think I like you better when you are stoppable." Roxanne drew her second handaxe and unleashed a whirlwind of axe slices at the vampire. The warrior landed her blows with ease, but they did not cut nearly as deeply as the first time. Her silkworms attempted to pull Harria off of Andromeda a second time, tugging even harder than before, but in the same direction.

To Andromeda, she added, "Andy, your light magic will help keep her from regenerating!"

Action: Attack. Deals 6 slashing damage.
Bonus Action: Two-weapon fighting attack. Deals 7 slashing damage. Needs to make the DC 12 strength save again or be moved to the other side of Roxanne.

Note: Hunter's Mark still active.

Chapter 8a: Party Split

Andromeda cried out in pain and contradictory pleasure when Harria's sharp teeth tore into her neck!  Though her form was made of stars she nonetheless bled red while struggling against the vampire's grasp.  "Get off me, damn-pire!"  The druidess pushed against Harria and sent out a thundering shockwave reverberated through the walls, hopefully blasting back her assailant.  She followed up by drawing an arrow of starlight and launching it at the vampire, striking with radiance that was bane to her undead nature!

  • Cast Thunderwave in a 15-foot cube, avoiding Roxy if at all possible.  8 thunder damage, DC 15 Con save for half!
    • On a failed save targets are pushed 10 feet, but a successful save means no push.  This push would break the grapple!
    • Unsecured objects that are completely within the area of effect are automatically pushed 10 feet away from you by the spell's effect, and the spell emits a thunderous boom audible out to 300 feet.
  • If the grapple is broken move away but remain in the room (otherwise stay grappled)
  • Starry archer attack as a bonus action hits AC 18 (same result for disadv. or no) for 6 radiant damage!

11:34, Today: Andromeda rolled 6 using 1d8+4.  Starry archer damage.
11:34, Today: Andromeda rolled 18 using 2d20+7, dropping the highest dice only with rolls of 11,17.  Starry Archer attack (disadvantage?).
11:33, Today: Andromeda rolled 8 using 2d8.  Thunderwave.

"Love! Yourself!" replied Roxanne, saying each word with a swing of her axe. But her moves were becoming too predictable. Neither of her handaxes managed to leave a noteworthy mark, and her silkworms melted into simple slugs as Roxanne began to tire a little.

Action: Attack, but miss.
Bonus Action: Attack, but miss again. My swarm doesn't get to try anything cool this round.
