Spelljammer does sound like fun, but I've been looking forward to testing our mettle in Dragonbowl for a long time!  Also blasting that scumbag King Yek and rescuing Copper, of course.

ok probably the most important thing here is LIFE INSURANCE: it's super expensive and Vellurn just mentioned it to you, this is the first you've heard about it. I know no one can afford it, so maybe figure out a way to get it??? Or just don't worry about it because you guys are super awesome and never die.

I think our life insurance is going to be Romda preparing Revivify while carrying the single 300gp diamond she purchased back in town ;P

This tournament sounds like such fun as a player, but a TERRIBLE idea for our characters, lol

I have questions about some of the magic rules, but should those be asked IC or OOC?

EDIT - On second thought, I'll just ask here since there is an OOC element to some of the questions:

1. "Use of magic is permitted in the arena only if such spells hurt, maim or kill opponents..."  Are healing, restoration, or other support/buff/utility spells outlawed, since they don't directly hurt enemies?
   
2. Is Revivify allowed, or is it a conflict of interest with the resurrection insurance? (this notion both amuses and terrifies me, lol)
   
3. "use of spells to banish, charm, enchant or immobilize opponents without spectacle is strictly forbidden"  Might there be exceptions for spells with spectacular additional effects?  I can see straightforward control spells like Banish and Hold Person being no bueno, but stuff like Tasha's Hideous Laughter or Entangle have additional effects that could be crowd-pleasers :)  Maybe a Performance check to use such abilities 'with spectacle'?
   
4. What will players left out of the 4-person team have to do?  Can we tag them in mid-fight? :D

Yeah lets just keep it all ooc as Im now reconsidering more of those rules. Once we are all agreed on all of the rules feel free to rp reacting to them, but also this is all stuff your character shoildnt really be surprised by.

The ressurection insurance is meant to be a plot hook. You have one day to drum up patronage from these rich people. Sorry i didnt make that too obvious. You also dont need to get it. Its up to you.

In my head, at the party, while all the rest of us are mingling with the crowd I am imagining Manny in the corner by the snack table licking up plate after plate of escargot. And of course nobody wants to be the one to tell the manticore to pace himself and leave some for other people.
