You eventually get back to the Edge, the boisterous sounds suggest that it is already quite busy inside.

Dei headed inside and collapsed into a seat at the bar.

Ferg slid a Bourbon over to "There lassie geet that in ya, so whaur hae ye bin?"

"Hit over the head and in a cell because of a case I was workin' on," Dei said, taking the drink and downing it.

Ferg filled another glass "Ye shuid be more canny, ya Ken. Did ye solve th' case at least?"

"They threw me in the same cell as the person I was lookin' for an' they didn't expect me to have magic," Dei said. "Managed to escape with nothin' but a headache."

Ferg nodded turning to serve a customer before turning back to Dei "That wis damn jammy. Dinna worry yirsel aboot yer set th' nicht ye look rough" and patted you on the shoulder.

"Thanks, Ferg," Dei said as she scanned the crowd to see if her boyfriend was in.

You scan the crowd but you don't see him in the crowd.

Dei downed her drink and decided to head to bed early.

You wake up the next day and when you make your way down stairs for breakfast Ferg greets you "Letter arrived fur ya" he said placing the item on the bartop.

Dei wandered over to it and opened it.

You open the letter and read the contents:

Ms Scarmiglione,

Your presence is requested at the residence of Lady Daweldin, in Ocean's View at 2 hours past midday.

Signed, Lady Daweldin,

I have included a pass to prevent any issues with you moving to the upper levels.

As the post script indicated there is also a signed and dated pass contained within the enevlope.

"Huh?" Dei asked, confused and read it again, carefully. "Wow, I wonder what a different noble family wants with l'il ol' me?"

She went and got changed, grabbing a few silver to get a pastry or something on the way and headed out. It could take ages to the upper levels.

"See ya later, Ferg!" she called out as she left.

Ferg waves you off and you head out.

The path was as long as you expected, you were able to move up to the next level easily enough. There was little restriction on movement between the lower and middle levels of the city.

The middle level was much cleaner, the streets were empty of debris and dirt, and goods and hawekers are found on most of the larger streets offering wares from across the five nations. You are easily able to buy something and finish it as you approach a lift disc to take you up to the upper level.

At your approach a set of City Watch step forward and bar your progress "Halt, what business do you have on the upper level?" the lead one asks eyeing you distrustfully.

"I have this here pass," Dei said, handing it over.

The guard examines it intently looking from it to you several times "Where did you get this from?" he asks not yet returning the pass.

"I got a letter from Lady Daweldin sayin' that she wanted to see me," Dei said.

The guard laughs "You expect me to believe that a lady would want to see someone like you" he replied shaking his head, he pulled a device out of his belt, it seemed to be small disc with a gem of some kind in the middle "You do know that forgery is a crime right? Last chance to own up and we'll go easy on you"

"Go ahead," Dei said, cross her arms.

The guardsmen shakes his head and runs the device over the pass, the gem lights green. He stops staring at it, then at you, then runs the device over it again, once more the gem lights green.

He finally hands pass back with a bemused and shocked expression on his face "You can go up" he says grudgingly "But be warned, they don't like gutter trash up top. One wrong move and you'll find yourself in a cell quicker than you can blink"

"Sure thing, honey," Dei said taking the pass back. "Bye bye now!"

She waved to the guard before turning around and waving with her tail too before going.
