The sun is beginning to set when you arrive back at the Spire's Edge, the evening crowd is still beginning to filter in, so it's fairly quiet as you enter the Inn.

Desmond waves cheerfully to you as he leans against the bar watching the patrons. "Evening Dei, good day?" he asked.

Behind him Old Man Ferg is busy cleaning glasses with two of his arms, the other two busy pouring a fresh tankard of foaming brown ale. "Evenin' Lass" he rumbled in his odd thick accent "Ya looking bonnie as ever, I ken from ye smile, its been a guid day"

"Payday is always a great day," Dei said, placing 5 gp on the bar. "If ya'll excuse me, I have to go freshen up for the show."

She headed to her room.

Old Man Ferg nods gravely as he expertly scoops up the coins on the bar as you pass "Ay Lass, ah will see ye efter" he said as you walked by.

You exchange words with a few of the regulars as you head up the stairs to your room. You are easily able to prepare for your set, and soon the sound of the evening crowd begins to filter up to your room.

Dei went for a nice black dress with a tasteful bit of cleavage, her horn decorations and the tail rings. She scooped up her magic fiddle before heading back down. Hopefully there'd be at least one handsome single guy in the crowd tonight.

You descend the stairs and moves towards the stage. The tables and booths are full of patrons, drinking, talking and laughing. You can see Old Man Ferg pouring drinks, and Desmond moving through the crowd delivering drinks and the occasional platter of food.

As you take your position on the stage, a hush slowly falls across the crowd, the last few noisy folk are quickly hushed by neighbour.

Dei played some of the songs of her youth, back before the soldiers. The lively music from the lower class parties she had heard.

As you play the songs, they fill the Inn with a lively, upbeat sound. After a few songs many of the patrons join in the songs.

There is a loud raucous cheer as you finish and Desmond gives you a quick thumbs up as he takes a bowl around to collect tips for you.

You move to your table and find a drink waiting, Old Man Ferg catches your eye and nods, before turning back to the next customer.

Dei takes her drink and begins to scan the crowd for a single, attractive man.

Your eyes first settle on Drayton, a regular at the Edge. He's a Rake and Cardshark, and general neerdowell. He regularly hits on Dei, but seems to have found company.

Your eyes then alight on a well dressed man with an athletic build, nursing a drink with a forlorn expression.

Dei gets up and walks over to the well dressed man.

"Is this here seat taken?" she asked, leaning forward.

The man blinks in surpise "Oh, no not at all" he said and gestured "Please sit"

"How are ya doing tonight? Ya really stand out compared to the regulars," Dei said.

"I do?" he replied and glanced about "I'm not too sure about that, but your voice was incredible" he said as he looked back at Dei.

"Thank ya kindly," Dei said. "What brought ya here tonight?"

The man shrugs "Escape from the pressure of expectations" he said "I was just wandering the city looking for somewhere different and my feet led me here" he smiled at Dei "It was perhaps the best choice they've made in a while, what about you? Do you sing here often?"

"I do. I've been doing it for the past year or so," Dei said. "I'm certainly glad ya ended up here tonight,"

The man nodded smiling agreeably "As am I, could I be as bold as to offer to buy you a drink?" he asked as he signaled Desmond to come over.

"I certainly have no objections to that," Dei said. "Bourbon, if you please."

"Burbon for the Lady" the man said "I'm sorry but I didn't catch your name?" he said turning back to Dei.

"It's Deiluci, but everyone calls me Dei or Luci. What about yerself?" Dei asked.

"Dei" the man repeated as if testing it "A lovely name for a lovely Lady. I'm Lo-" he cut himself off "My friends call me Freddy" he said instead "I'd like it if you would as well"

Dei smiled.

"Sure thing, Freddy," she said. "Yer quite the charmin' fella, enough to say that ya have sure dazzled little ol' me."

Freddy smiles "I would say you are far more dazzling than I" he replied gallantly, Dei could sense she had him well and truly hooked.

"I hope I'm not bein' too forward or nothin', but would you like to maybe have a chat in mah room?" Dei asked.

Freddy beams at you "I would be delighted" as he stood and offered you his arm.

A Delightful night passes---

You wake up the next day, Freddy is still dozing one arm draped across Dei. For a moment everything seems fine, but then your eyes fall upon a small pouch laying on top of your dresser that wasn't there before.

Carefully, Dei gets up to investigate.

Inside the pouch you find a small medallion engraved on one side is a single large eye seeming made of onyx and inlaid with gold, surrounded at the edge by a series of smaller eyes all looking in different directions. There is also a small bit of parchment with a single phrase written in infernal "They watch in Darkness"

That's odd...Dei pocketed the amulet for now, she headed downstairs to get food for herself and Freddy.

You make your way down to the kitchen, Old Man Ferg is behind the bar as usual and nods as you head towards the kitchen.

The fires have been lit but Karesh doesn't appear to be about, you are easily able to make something for yourself and your guest.

Dei set about making some potato hash.

"How are ya doin' this mornin'?" she asked Ferg.

Ferg smiled at you or at least as close to a smile as he seemed capable.
"A'm braw, how urr ye? ye seemed tae hae fun company fur th' evenin" he rumbled in reply as he polished the bar top.

"I'm good. Real good," Dei said as she cooked. "I like him, I think I'll keep him around."

Ferg nods "Tis guid ye'v fun someone, bit nobles kin be trouble mind. Watch yersel, a dinnae wantae see ye git hurt"

Dei's mind was racing.

"If'n you'll pardon me, but you seem to be sayin' that Freddy's a noble."

Fer shrugged "A'm juist an auld barman, so a'm likelie reading him wrong. But he carries 'I'm self like a laird" he shook his head "Ach dinner pay nae attention to old Ferg, he's jus speculatin'"

Dei laughed.

"Ah, c'mon Ferg, ain't no way a noble'd be interested in little ol' me."

Ferg lay a reassuring hand on Deis shoulder "Yer tae hard on yersel', yer a bonny 'n' talented lassie, a man Laird or no, would dream of catching yer eye" he then made a shooing gesture "No' gae back tae 'im. An be oot o' the kichten before Karesh spots ye main a mess o' the place"

Dei dished up the hash and grabbed a kettle for tea before heading back upstairs, but not before giving Ferb a kiss on his metal cheek.

"Ya sure know how ta cheer a gal up."

Ferg waves you off and returns to his work, when you return to your room Freddy seems to have only just woken "I was being to feel like last night was a dream" he said "A beautiful dream" he smiled at you as you presented the food "I am glad to see it was not"

Dei went redder than normal.

"Ya sure know how to flatter a gal."

Freddy smiles and gets up to help Dei, he's wearing very little after the nights activities "It's not flattery if it's true" he said as he helped to make space for them  to eat.

"Yer different than most of the men that come through here. I'd like to keep this goin'," Dei said.

Freddy looks a little startled and then thoughtful "I think I would like that" he said finally "I would like that a great deal" and the he paused and looked down at his feet "But first I must be honest with you" he held up his hands "Not that I've lied to you, I've just not told you everything"

He sighed and ran his hand through his hair "When you asked me my name. I said my friends call me Freddy. Which is true as far as it goes. But others would call me Lord Fredrick d'Deneith of House Deneith" he said holding up his hand and manifesting his dragon mark.

"Would you still have me knowing that?"

Dei stood there.

"Huh? Yer...yer a noble? Huh? And yer interest in me?" she asked slowly, trying to work things out. "Um, yes, I mean...I would. Yer really sweet and kind, but this don't feel real."

Freddy nodded "Yes, and yes" he said stepping up to her and gently putting his arms around her "You are Beautiful, any man would be over the moon to hear you say you want them" he said into her hair.

"I was, I think, lost till fate brought me here" he said moving to kiss her "I do have to be back at the offices, but I have some time, maybe I can prove to you how real this is?" he suggested with a wicked smile as he led her back towards the bed.

"S-sure," Dei said, letting him pull her along.

---some time later---

Freddy dresses and preparesheads for the door "I'll come to visit again soon" he said kissing the back of Dei's hand "Do you sing every night?"

"Yeah, after I'm done working at the agency," Dei said.

Freddy nodded "Beautiful and multi-talented" he said with fond smile and headed off.

It was soon time for Dei to head into the offices.

Dei got ready for work and headed in. Heart still beating fast.
