Moulin Rougé

Emily sat at a table in the corner of the casino, it was a favorite place to sit in this particular establishment as it gave a good view of several card tables, the entrance and the bar. She enjoyed the vantage point and the atmosphere that allowed her to pick our her potential targets whilst draped over the chair. She had been attending the Moulin Roughe frequently, often with one or more mortals she had convinced to join her from goldbugs mine. The young, rich and arrogant had always been her favorite group to target and they didn't care how much they spent of their daddy's money to secure a night with Emily. As the new and exotic flavour in town she likely would have drawn some attention even without her stuuningly good looks and the scandalous outfits she habitually wore.

Emily hoped that by pulling a little extra revenue into the property she might raise a few eyebrows and perhaps the right kind of attention. The astute watcher would have noted she usually had plenty of chips to cash before leaving each night yet always much less than her guests usually had lost to the casino. The money and occasional meal was merely a convinience, in truth she hoped to draw enough attention from the proprietress or at least one of her underlings. The local Harpys were as always insatiable gossips regardless of the domain yet they knew surprisingly little about the good lady Panthea outside of the fact that she owned several diverse businesses in the town and was not one to be trifled with lightly. Emily could only gain so much from the harpys and though it never hurt to be associated with them she was seeking opportunaties and investments outside of garish parties and odious popularity contests. In truth Emily did not need the adoration of her peers yet the game had to be played to thier rules accordingly and she was in no posiiton to demand and audience with anyone. At least not yet.

Joseph stood nearby, his bright blue eyes scanning the Casino, seeking out threats and weighing each mortal or kindred that appraoched nearby. Emily was dressed rather formerly that evening with modest a red dress of floral design and black woolen coat in what for her was as close to business casual as she usually dared stray towards. She chose not to be bothered with distrations or lecherous mortals or kindred and so she was not. Each Mortal that looked in her direction saw and empty table and chair and a looming bodygaurd in front of it. Even a few kindred did not notice her prescence though more than one looked at her curiously, perhaps wondering as to why she was lounging out of sight. Of course the camera's saw her clear as any other which was entirely her intention.

She moistened her crimson lips as another patron bowed their head in the grim realization that they had just gambled and lost after a rather strong winning streak. Emily ran her tongue along her fangs Shame, he would have made for an exceptionally fine meal and who was easier to dispose of than a man who had just lost everything? I shall have to look for him another night perhaps. If he hasn't disposed off himself already that is.
Emily smiled at the thought and cast her gaze back across the Casino, enjoying the noise and  atmosphere of the establishment, relyign on Joesph to keep track of the isnignifigant details like potential enemies and the time before the sunrise. For as cold and professional as Joseph was he was diligent and effective at his job and loyal to a fault. Emily reflected it was simply a shame that loyalty was not owed to her. He was a fine tool indeed but only a fool would break such and inportant toy on a whim.

Moulin Rougé

The night after the fall of the Prince.

Nefertari made her appearance at the Moulin RougĂ© this evening before heading to the Little Shop of Spells.  She needed to collect a few things here and to make sure nothing were not disturb by any unwanted guest.  There was the Sabbat causing trouble and now the Anarchs started a war with the Camarilla. She was a standing figure in the society and she like to keep her businesses running smoothly.

As she entered she noticed a figure in the corner standing as if guarding. This alone was something out of place.  Taking the liberty of walking toward where she can view the whole room from the security room. There was always a guard outside making sure no one gets in, but steps to the side when he sees her walking and when she is close enough he opens the door then closes it behind her.

Inside it top notch cameras and a few other tricks she placed so that she will have an upper hand on any attacks in her establishment from troublesome Kindreds.  After 15 minutes inside, the door opens and she exits.

Each step she took made a sound.  It seemed that she was doing it intentionally.

Within a few moments she making a direct line toward the empty table.  She looked the man up and down briefly.  "Either you can make him leave or I can Compel him to. she said without even looking away from the man.

"Give us some space please Joseph, at least as much as the agreement allows if you please." Joseph gave Neferrtari a cold and analytical once over with his eyes before taking several steps to the side and making a very good impression of someone completely oblivious to his surroundings. He did not seem particularly worried or bothered by her tone but obeyed the order from Emily. A few looks of confusion flashed towards them as some nearby mortals found themselves surprised they had not noticed Emily sat there moments ago, somehow obscured by the bodyguard. They reasoned that she must have just quietly slipped into the seat and arrived with with similarly striking woman next to her.

Emily rose and gave a small court room curtsey with a smile and slight nod of the head. Though not enough to appear servile it was certainly a show of great respect and acknowledgemnt of a difference in status. "I am glad to finally make your aquaintance Lady Panthea, I am most impressed by this loveley establishment and can only regret I have not the skills or knowledge to take advantage of your more specialist businesses though i am certian they are no less impressive. You will have to forgive for in the excitement I seem to have forgotten my manners, I am Lady Emily Chalmendelais, btu of course you may simply call me Emily for i would like very much for us to be friends."

Emily returned to her seat and smiled prettily whislt patting the seat nearby. "Please, join me and sit. I admit my tribute to your establishment is not as decadent as other...Thespians... might provide but i am afraid i have little to offer in terms of monetary wealth and it seems you are something of an enigma and therefore a fitting gift is beyond the scope of my understanding. I am glad to see that my small tokens have not gone unnoticed however and if half the rumours flying around tonight are true then this charming domain is in for a rocky ride."

She paused with a perfectly frozen smile and posture waiting to see how Nefertari would. The next few moments would be the very telling and though Emily was taking a large risk, she believed and personally amused that the choice of locale was most the appropriate place to do so.

As the man stepped out of the way Nefertari looked at the woman sitting in the seat, taking great care to peruse over her every facet.  Her eyes even sparkled slightly as Emily looked into them.  The bodyguard was a mere play toy, for she had already ran many joyful things she would do to him if ever getting him into her dungeon.

She listened to the newly Kindred and took notice of how informative she was about Nefertari and her businesses.  Not liking that some other Kindred was prying into things they shouldn't be without cause.  Every Kindred has a reason for doing anything so what was the true reasoning for this new Kindred.  The tale she said was interesting but was it true.  Nefertari's head tilted slightly as the offer of the seat.  Letting out a soft breath of air as she took the seat.  As she did, Emily could smell the scent of Frankincense and Myrrh.

"It is a pleasure to meet you Lady Emily Chalmendelais.  It seems that you didn't offer your Clan. she replied.  "One would in a formal introduction.  That is, if this is one. she gave her guest a sweet innocent smile.  As Emily could notice, Nefertari was very young looking in her mortal form late teens or very early 20s.

Then Emily spoke one word that did catch Nefertari's ear, Thespians.  Oh the famous Toreador.

"Rumors. she repeats "What ever do you mean, Emily?

Emily's smile did not waver or shift for several moments then spread into a wild smile as she tittered like a young girl. "How silly of me, you must think me amongst the most common of dullards for that slip in ettiquette. Unfortunately I have been independent too long before swearing myself to the Camarilla and so i can be a little forgetfull of the more subtle protocols. I can only apologize. I was brought into this domain and sworn in before Prince Sasha Dolzaev by my Primogen, the honourable and esteemed Serana Maharet of clan Toreador and it is to her I owe my allegiance, after Prince Sasha of course..." Emily played the doe eyed Beauty well but when she met Nefertari's eyes there was a flash of somethign unsaid after she spoke the last few words.

Emily leaned in a little closer and dropped her voice a little though it lost none of its flippant yet polite tone. "Well Lady Panthea, thats precisely the problem! Rumours fly thick and fast. So much so that some can hardly be believed and from sources i could not honestly know could be trusted! That is why i wasa so glad to see you walk over. I am flighty and cautious by nature, ill suited to brawling and bloodwork as some of our cousins and so i would seek your wisdom. It is known you are established here and many kindred look up to you for your mien, success and intelligence. Some say you have the ear of the Tremere Primogen and if this is indeed true, and i would not be surprised at all if it were, then you are one that can be trusted to aid me in sifting the more outlandish rumours from the kernels of truth that some inevitably stem from."

Emily leaned back once more and gesticulated a circular motion with her right hand as though trying to recall some train of thought but her eyes seemed sharp and not at all dulled." Ah yes! Well rumours of Sabbat have been spreading around for a while yet some say they made a daring attack on one of the primogen, others that they plan to attack the Prince or that the Prince has agreed a treaty with the Anarchs though most seem to whisper that there is to be war with the Anarchs and they are working with the Sabbat. Rumours more quietly spread say that the Prince has been...incapacitaded and that her Sherrif is preparing to strike back. With so many rumours you can see why one such as myself, so new and unacustomed to this domain would have cause to worry."

Emily leaned forward again and spoke barely above a whisper, the playful and ditzy edge to her voice gone though her facial expression remained one of cheerful curiosity. "There are those kindred further still that speak in whispers when they believe they are safe and alone, those that should know better than to even utter what they allege to know. The rumour i speak of my dear Lady Panthea is that a meeting was called last night involving influential ancilla....unnamed and unverified of course." Emily's smile changed for the first time, dropping ever so slightly and accompanied with a knowing look. "a meeting also attended by Anarch elders resulting in a...structural reshuffling shall we say of the domain heirachy that could leave room for enterprising and resourceful individuals to  advance." Emily's previous demeanour snapped back into place and she chuckled plafully.

"Of course such rumours could only be just that, yet i through a great coincidence, as you could imagine, chanced to hear this very night a group of Anarchs boasting and whispering of war and instability in our noble sect. So I risk making myself sound like such a fool in front of one so wise and respected as yourself to put my fears and worries to rest. If there was some small grain of truth to these odd rumours however... well it would certainly seem like a good time to have good friends!" Emily ensured to lock eyes with Nefertari to ensure there was no misunderstanding as to her offer and the true reason for the discussion. "and I always endeavour to be of assistance and of some use to my friends, small though my contribution and status may be. I always hope my friends will one day look fondly on me as i have always endeavoured to earn their friendship and look fondly on them."

Nefertari sat there and listened with a smile to arise every now and then when Emily spoke of certain things.  None the less she gave her attention to the new Kindred that wished to pry information out of her.  Not that any other hasn't tired the same thing and over the few centuries that she lived she knew when is best to give information and when is best to hold back till one can gain a trusted friend.   Nefertari found it a bit odd if this newbie was seeking her wisdom then why was she hiding herself from normal eyes and it took a bit of effort to locate her.

"That is a lot of Rumors for one such as yourself to uncover in such a short amount of time. she replied.  "I'm not able to speak fully on them, for it would be up to the Prince to prove them wrong or false.

Nefertari batter her eyes "I am Nefertari Panthea of Clan Tremere. I don't have the ear of the Tremere Primogen but I do know her. a smirk appears on her beautiful face.

Opening her hand clutch she pulled out a fancy card and a piece of paper. On the paper she wrote down an number.
"I would suggest that you call Rook.  If you fear for your life. He would be the best to supply you with the necessary items to defend yourself.  This card has my personal number on it.  Where are you staying these nights? she said as she then stood from the chair.

"I have prior engagements tonight but we should meet up soon.

Emily shrugged softly and spoke in asuch a way you could nearly believe she was modest and humble. "I just spend a lot of time in periphery to the Harpys and if something happens they usually fight to be the first to know." Emily Chuckled pleasantly. "Of course you are correct, it would be the Prince's place to step forward and quell the rumours or perhaps her Sherriff or at least a member of the primogen council should the former find themselves busy with other matters. I shall wait with, and you will have to pardon the turn of phrase, bated breath."

Emily accepted the scrap of paper and the card, placing them in an inner coat pocket before producing a card of her own and passing it over. "Well joseph is certainly capapble of that however i shall give this Rook a call and see if we cannot make other arrangements as well. It pays to have more than one line of defence I am told and as effective as Joseph is he is after all, only mortal." Emily rose with Nefertari and smiled. "I get around and rarely stay in one place too long, I have a fondness of waking up to new places and vistas. Regardless of how miuch time passes thier is always something new and beautiful to see each night, it is a shame i was never a great painter or my nights would be filled without leaving room for worry or doubt. I take my pleasure where I can however."

Emily gave another small curtsey. "Thank you for taking the time to talk with me Lady Panthea, please ensure to call me should I be able to assist you in any way. I very much look forward to our next meeting. I can ususally be found at the Succubuis club, Goldbugs mine or right here in fact. I do hope you forgive the occasionbal use of my gifts, as you will know the pawing and pestering of the mortals can be tiresome and unwanted. Sometimes one just wishes to  sit and watch the worlds canvas fill itself in as it were. May I also say that your aroma is rather striking and I must say suits your personage quite magnificently."

Nefertari's right eyebrow arched slightly before returning back to its perfect shape.  This Emily seems to be more of a wandering artist than most she has ever meet, most Toreador love having their enthralled following them around and lavishing off their auras.  This one here seems to be a bit off of the norm.

There was a raise of her hand that moved to touch Emily's soft cheek "You were given such a gift.  Why hide it when you were reborn to Enthrall the mortals. she smiled as her hand gently moved across her face.  Nefertari didn't even look over at Joseph to see if he would dare intervene, but if Emily was watching she would notice that there was a few men watching them and keeping an eye on Joseph, that is if he dare moved closer.

Then her hand returned back to her side "You should find a Haven to call your own soon.  If the rumors are even slightly true.  You don't want to wake up in the wrong estate. she looked into Emily's eyes "I would hate to discover that the Sabbat placed a mark upon such a delicate vessel.

Then Nefertari begins to leave, as she does she stops and turns quickly around "You can call me Nefertari.  This Lady Panthea is so formal and we are past that now. then she returns to leave the building and heading to her next stop.

Joseph's eyes galnced over as Nefertari reached out but a swift hand signal from Emily prevented further action. "I am afraid I must disagree Lady Panthea, i wasa not bron to do anything. I was in fact, as we all are simply chosen to fufil a goal, desire or purpose by those older and more powerful. We are all of us pieces on a board pretending we are also the hand that moves them. I am under no illusion as to my standing but would at the very least prefer to be used by a skilled player. I could enthrall mortals before i was given these gifts, it almost takes the fun out of the game. Almost."

Her smile once again did not flicker during the exchange."I have been looking into some options and I promise you that Joesph would not allow me too stay anywhere to dangerous." Emily chuckled and her smile widened a little. " I thank you for your concern Lady Panthea. I am beautiful yes, it would be lie to pretend otherwise, but i am certainly not some delicate wallflower to wilt at the first sign of trouble."

"I look forward to our next meeting Nefertari and shall await your call." Emily provided a final curtsey and waved Joseph back to the table before she seemd to dissapear as he passed in front of her. Like the cheshire cat her smile seemed almost the last thing to vanish. Emily waited a short while after Nefertari left before getting up herself and talking quietly to Joseph. "Well that could have gone much worse. She is a dangerous one that Lady Panthea but nothing worth gaining was ever achieved without some risk and it seems you protestations were for nothing." "This time, Lady Chalmendelais." For the first time that evening a flash of annoyance crossed her face before evaporating almost as quickly. "I supposse you know that your tone is always perfectly pitched to be simultaneously dutiful and impertinent?" "I wouldn't know anyhting about that Lady Chalmendelais. After all I am simply a lowly mortal with no title or status. It would not be for me to question my betters." The ghost of a smile danced over his face and though he appeared stern she could see the smile in his eyes. "Yes, very droll Joseph. Just be sure to remember to keep such tones to yourself when i am entertaining others of note. It would not do to have them believe i cannot control my own attendent." Joseph deliberately looked away from her glare and took several steps forward ot ensure the way was clear for Emily as they exited the Casino. " Have i ever done otherwise Lady Chalmendelais?" Emily did not answer though her heels clicked louder than a few moments before and she pushed down the urge to slap him. In truth she found his company much more preferable than the strays that usually followed her in other domains.

Emily left the charming Casino and turned to Joseph. "Get the car Joseph. It has been well over a century since my last confession and I fear I have built up quite a list!" Emily pulled out her phone and ticked and item of her schedule before highlighting one further down and adding Rook an Nefertari to her contact list.
