Scene1: Divided We Fall

Tulliun was caught off guard by the Avalon Ian request. He smirked casually. I am no duelist, sir. he said apologetically.

He turned to Boris, However, it would seem you are. Are you considering championing either of these fellows?

Scene1: Divided We Fall

Father Carlos stood back not that he wouldn't intervene if required but he knew arguments happened and if it ended in a fist fight then all would be forgotten after.

The talk of duels and the like concerned him but for now he moved forward ready to step in and say a soothing word to soften tempers

Scene1: Divided We Fall

Boris had no intention of representing either man in a duel. However, now that the Castillian was throwing his money around if he didn’t bite then some greedy fool would. The best thing to do was to buy time for the Captain to arrive. Even if the Captain allowed an official duel, the Ussuran would wait to make sure he would not get on the Captain’s bad side. The most he could do is hit them both where it hurts, their reputations.

He clasps his hands behind his back looking to both men. “My decision to represent either or neither of you will be made based on how you conduct yourselves as guests on this ship and the decisions made by our gracious host, the Captain. Also take note that you have drawn the attention of everyone here who will bear witness to your next words and actions. Many of these other passengers will be disembarking in the same town you are. Conduct yourselves in a shameful or unprofessional manner, and it is possible those actions may be known beyond the crew of this ship. Any representative of yours will also be under the same scrutiny. Now let’s hold our tongues until the Captain makes their appearance.”

He moves closer to the stern and turns in order to keep both men and the approaching Captain in sight. His stance and demeanor left the impression of professionalism and finality to his words. Now will they remain calm enough to see what happens next?

OOC: Spend last raise to have them wait until the Captain arrives.

Re: Scene1: Divided We Fall

Vincent backs off seeing the two no longer at each other's throats. "I am, in truth, a member of the Duelist's Guild. But I shan't duel someone to the death over such a simple matter. If there is cheating, that is a matter between you two and your own hearts, but I shall not besmirch the honor of the Guild by putting a blade to someone over a card game."

Re: Scene1: Divided We Fall

Anyone looking at the sea beaten young man could see the relief. He wasn't so much concerned about the duel itself, but he'd hated the prospect of possibly killing the Ussuran.

Well, that settles that then. If there are two duelist's, then I'll let them sort the reasoning of that business. However, take the big man's advice and keep yourselves apart whilst on this ship.

He turned his own attention back to the crowd, Those on crew had best get back to task, 'fore the captain gets here seein ya gawking.

Re: Scene1: Divided We Fall

The captain arrives just on time to see the two men separated.

"What is happen' here?" says the Captain as he turns towards the men.

The Castille man chimes in. "Sir Captain. Tis was a simple game of cards that got out of hand. Let your worries not concern you."

The Avalon man chimes in quickly, "Captain. May I? This gentleman and I were having a very heated disagreement. He appears to have cheated in my game."

The captain looks and both men, "Is this true?"

Seems it was just a disagreement over a game, Captain. They got a little loud is all. Tulliun answered his host. He sincerely hoped that this would pass over and be forgotten before the made port.

Boris took a step forward. “It was a heated disagreement as he said. Whether there was any cheating involved, I was not present at the time to say one way or another. I have asked that they sideline their disagreement until they disembark today. I asked the cabin boy to send for you in case cooler heads did not prevail.”He took a step back.

"And if all else fails, I am a registered duelist. Though I despise taking my blade out for such small matters, I shall do so if employed in that capacity. To the first blood, though, of course- cheating in a card game is not worth the death penalty." He did his best to be impartial, but he knew he was a bit more favorable to the Avalonian, for obvious reasons.

Re: Scene1: Divided We Fall

"The captain looks a both men and then signals the crew. Take these boys and separate them. There be no dueling on this ship. Normally I would just throw you off my ship but seeing as this is a merchant vessel. I will keep things civil."

A man runs over. "Keep these two in different quarters."

There is a few minutes of silence before a man from the crows nest calls down to the captain.

"CAPTAIN! LOOK STARBOARD PORT!"

It doesn't take you to long to see that there is something that your ship is coming up on that appears to be on fire.

The captain grabs the spyglass and begins looking towards the fire. It appears to be another ship. You can't make out the damage from the distance so the captain makes a fast speed to reach the other vessel to help out by the law.

Re: Scene1: Divided We Fall

Boris looks to see the inferno that is another ship they were fast approaching. Thinking he may need to help with rescue, he calmly takes off his fancy jacket, shoes, and shirt to hang them securely to some rigging nearby. This revealed an athletic body well defined with muscles and bulging veins. His forearms and the back of his hands were covered in special gauntlets that were not previously seem under his gloves and long sleeves. He stood at the edge of the railing holding on as they approached.

Re: Scene1: Divided We Fall

As the boat drifts closer to the wreckage you can see the ship itself does not appear to be a merchant ship but more of a traveling vessel. Possibly a much small ship than the one you are in. While the ship is not completely sunk, it is taking on water.

The captain sees the sight and look among the crew. "Alright ladies and gents. We need to board that vessel before it sinks to make sure we don't have any survivors aboard in need of help. I am not sure what happened but we need to make haste. Who will go among you will help with this task? The other group will stay here and ensure that we can manage the wounded and manage the ship itself."

OOC: I need to know the two groups and specifically who is in those groups. We will be breaking up this scene into two.

Tulliun pipes up eagerly, I'll check the hold captain, and see if I can't slow the sinking while I'm down there.

He ran quickly to grab some tools out of the crate from earlier, a fistful of nails, a hammer, saw, and a flat piece of steel for prying. He ran back to the rail, stuffing them in his pockets and his waistband.

Boris sees that the ship is not completely sunk which means there could be survivors. He steps forward with a small nod to both the Captain and Tullian. “I also volunteer my strength to the cause. I know that I am volunteering at my own peril, and in no way hold the Captain or the crew responsible for my safety during the operation. Your crewman here may need a strong arm to bust down a door or hold a patch in place down in the hold.”

Tulliun nods back to Boris, and then climbs over the rail, holding on with one hand to the railing and keeping his feet between the posts for the railing and let his off hand hang loose, ready to grab on to the other ship.

The young, trim man looks perfectly at home, dangling over the maw of the deep. His typical sailor's garb and shaggy, sandy hair caught up in the wind like someone meant him to be a portrait for the archetype sailor.

"I shall lend myself to the rescue as well," Vincent said. "I do not think I'll be able to do much here, and my strength may be necessary if anyone is trapped in the wreckage."

He looked around at the others. "Is there anyone who can hold things down on this end?"

Re: Scene1: Divided We Fall

Seeing all the foolhardy folks ready to leap into the fire, Eberhard couldn't help but crack a wry smile as he turned to the captain.  "Well, it seems like these strapping gentlemen are eager to brave the flames, so I trust you'll excuse me if I keep my feet firmly planted on the ship that isn't currently on fire."

Finished, Eberhard's gaze turned towards the stricken vessel.  Despite being made of wood, ships didn't just catch fire, else nobody in their right mind would ever set foot on one.  Something else was at play here, and if they weren't careful, they could be next.

The captain looks pleased.

"Let's do this quickly. I don't want to be caught out in the open with a burning ship on the sea. Tis not a good sign for us."

The captain makes the hand signs for the rest of the crew to begin the process. They begin filling a small dinghy with supplies. Everyone loads into the small boat and makes their way to the burning ship. As the crew heads towards the burning ship they fade into the distance of the smoke.

OOC: The people who agreed to go. Please find the new thread specifically for your continuing adventures. Everyone else on the ship can continue in this thread.

Re: Scene1: Divided We Fall

While the others are saving whoever is on the ship. There is a silence on the wind that is chilling. From out of the back you here...

"CccccCaptain...."

Everyone moves towards the back of the ship to find themselves with a huge warship that has appeared behind them. From the rails you can see pirates hanging off the edge with sword in hand ready to fight.

The ship pulls up next to the merchant vessel and some grappling hooks are thrown over.

The captain urges everyone to stay together and remain calm.

A board flies out the side of the side and lands on your deck making a clear walk away.

This ship is much bigger and much more dangerous. Cannons are at the ready as you see all kinds of people looking out from the holes waiting for the signal.

A man in a giant coat looks down very dubious.

"Why hello friends." The man states in a clearly Eisen accident but using common tongue.

"It appears our paths have crossed and now we must speak. Captain my I board your ship?"

The captain allows the man on board where they meet with a fine handshake.

“Captain I won’t be taken much of your time. I am looking for someone who is aboard this ship. A young man who has a special interest for an interest of mine, do ya know this lad?”

The captain looks at the man and spits on the ground, “We don’t do business with pirates.”

The man gives an eye to the captain. He snaps his fingers and half the men start searching the ship.

If their new situation bothered him in the slightest, Eberhard certainly didn't show it as he watched the two men exchange pleasantries.  However, at the captain's outburst, an amused sounding chuckle escaped Eberhard's lips, and he fixed the man with a wry smile before speaking.  "Captain, I do hope you'll forgive my saying, but whether or not you set out to do business with pirates, given the nature of your line of work, eventually it is bound to happen.  And given our circumstances, It seems wise to allow our new friend here a free hand in searching for whatever, or rather, whomever, he's after.  Less risk of a... misunderstanding that way.

The captain gives you a nod as if to say he agrees.

The man from the other boat seems to perk up. “I do enjoy a man with common sense. The man I am looking for is a young Vodacce man. Do you know where I can find him?”
