Coterie build, relationship map

As far as Coterie's are concerned, my initial thought would be that the group acts as a Vehme, Masquerade enforcers\investigators. According to the book this type of Coterie is a Camarilla group, but for our intents and purposes it can be either or, as Heartwell is home to both factions.

If anyone has any objections we can put it to a vote. Please feel free to discuss what kind of Coterie you would like to play, and which Sect you'd like to start out in, the Camarilla, or the Anarchs.

I always lean towards anarchs coz i like the scrappy rabble rousing quality with their sect but happy to play either sect really.

I was planning to be a part of the Camarilla, but I am fine if people would prefer to play as the Anarchs.

Well if i am to be playing Alice then i will have to be independent but due to the promise of 1528 the |Hecata have a pretty solid relationship with the Camarilla so should be no issues thre :D

An independent Coterie would be a very odd thing, but not impossible. But every member of the Coterie would have to agree to remain neutral, plus you would have to decide amongst yourselves exactly what being independent means.

Saying that your independent, but then being fringe Anarchs, will by default make you Anarchs.  There has to be some substance to your independence.

Coterie build, relationship map

In reply to Storyteller (msg # 6):

As it looks like i will likely be playing Alice the Hecata, their indepedence is actual pretty strongly cemented. They owe allegiance to the family first though will of course abide by masquerade rules and formalities of the ruling sect of the domain. Alice would be willing to work for any sect that approaches her and offers fair payment but only in her capcity as an investigator on a strictly professional capacity. The Hecata are the most structured independent clan and has its own sect like internal chain of command.

If the coterie are to be vehme then it can very easily explain her presence as assuming the family has some presence here the masquerade breaches put them at risk. Perhaps the cammarilla are leaning on the promise of 1528 in order to force the family to assist them. The family comply due to the promise but send a fledgling rather than waste a more prominent member of the familys time. This way they both fulfil the request and see if Alice has what it takes to survive and perhaps grant an opportunaty to make contacts outside of the family to be used at a later time.

I see insamity also decided to name their character "Alice" :P

The way I envision my Alice, her loyalty lies with the Clan Tremere, and sect allegiance is secondary to that. She would be willing to work with either sect, so long as it helps the Tremere.

First addressing ST's reference to being independant. We could be like Switzerland, not in the silly way people use it. Switzerland is neutral for two reasons, one it is heavily fortified and armed, and two it is helpful to the rest of Europe and the rest of the world to have it as neutral. In the same way it would be advantageous for both Cam and Anarch to have a completely neutral Coterie in their domain. If we are Masquerade Hunters, as ST suggested, it would be extremely advantageous for us to be neutral because it would be best for us and them, especially if we have to go after one of the other group. We could also be good for mediating disputes. In this scinerio the two big powers would be in a de'tante.

We would be politically neutral. We could be friends with members of either or both of the big powers. We take no side in political disputes, but in personal ones we can be as active as we want.

Second I'd like to address why I wanted this in the first place. I was hoping Jesse could work both sides of the street, using the disputes between Anarch and Cam as a way to get wealthy. In this way I am emulating a little know movie with Bruce Willis called Last Man Standing. I certainly do not want to just be shadow Anarchs. I think Jesse would love to be left alone with his art but this is an UBER cool V5 game so that ain't happenin.

That is the best I can do for organizing my thoughts. I welcome questions.

Looks like it depends on Falcone, if he does wish to be Camarilla then have to accept that and discuss further. Maria's clan almost requires she is an independent, especially since we are fledglings.

Perhaps it could still work, he could be the Cam representative in the group. We would need an Anarch though.

which again might cause an issue if someone does not want to be an anarch, i could potentially make a completely different character as an anarch but don't see maria fitting the mould even with a clan swap since her character is intrisic to Hecata.
as the last one to join i don't mind doing it though as don't want to fovrce anyone t change thier characters and can always keep Maria as a spare.

Thoughts?

It will come down to the story the ST wants to tell.  If he is happy to have a coalition of sects to form a neutral coterie I would be happy to be the Camarilla representative.  For this to work there would need to be representatives from both the Anarchs and the Camarilla.

If Andrew pretended to get kicked out of the Cam but is acting as a spy...that might work.
