Sakura walks down the stair with sure steps.

Soshi With your amazing feat of perception you notice a small button hidden on the last post holding up the ceiling before you reach the landing.  You also notice a bloody boot print the disappears before the landing.

"Wait..." Ryu raises his hand and points to the button. "Prepare yourself." HE says and presses it.

"Just what I was going to say, let's see what happens. By the blood print here, I think that someone took that way."

Sakura begins gets ready with her starknife. "We should throw a torch first, just in case"

Group You hear a loud click like a bolt moving into place.  The first 10 feet before you opens up and you see a body laying in the pit below you. You can tell he's human in shape but unmoving.  There is a small pool of blood coming from several areas pierced by. Large spikes.

"Oh..." John looked over the pit. "A manual trap. I really never thought about that before. I mean, setting up a trap at a lords desk to a pit trap is a great way to end a monologue. I would have gone with pitch and tar but it's hard to set up a trap that resets itself." John went about trying to close the trap back up so they could keep going. Just looking for some way to lock it up. There was a body to search after all.

"In Avalon they really started using trap doors after the reformation of the church. The orignal religion of the land had been pushed out so anyone who held the faith had to build priest holes in their home, as silly as that sounds, so they could hide the priest should the guard come around."

He set down the box that was his back pack and started picking through it.  "Now personally I like setting up a number of boxes with trip wires or latches. Open it up and it launches a hundred or so poisoned arrows. I call them Pangolins." He pulled a length of rope from his bag. "So do we go down and check the body or nah?"

Shosuro Akira takes the rope and grips it, allowing Johnny to go down. "You are the one who is good at inspecting for some clues."

John nodded once.

 And trapping to see if the trap mechanisms can be extracted and locked in such a way as to benefit us.

"Damn..." Ryu thought it was going to be a secret door... not a trap. He knows he must consider himself extremely lucky because he should be dead now. In silence, and a little pale, he awaits for John's information.

Sakura awaits for the results. "Most probably, it will be one of the missing servants."

John You look around the middle of the pit before defending further down. There is a lever that you think would give you enough time to escape back to the top before resetting the trap for the next victim.

John spoke up, "Nothing special on the man. Want me to tie him to the rope so you can pull him or or should we leave him down here for later? I have found the reset to close it back up though."

OOC: Sorry I missed the part of searching the body. He is alive but barely. There are several spikes sticking into the man. It looks like the man servant. That is missing.

"Ope, yea, he is breathing. I can hit him with a cure salve if you like. But if we move him without healing him his wounds are going to reopen."

"He can be a witness, heal him and let's get him out of here." Ryu readies himself now to create an Astral Construct if anything happens.

OOC:
Ready: Manifest Astral Construct between danger and everyone else if an enemy appear.

With a nod John fished around in his bag to pull free a vaporizer. "Looks like today's scent is sandalwood." He leaned forward and spritzed the man in the back of his head, putting a hand on his back so he wouldn't just rip his guts out. There was an order to things.

Shosuro Akira grips and holds the rope tighter. If Johnny wants to tie the man, he can pull it up.

John The man's eyes jerk open at your healing.  You can see is mouth open but no sounds come out.  He is able to pull himself up off the spikes with some help from you.  He begins to gesture wildly, as if trying to explain something to you.

Group Looking into the pit you see John standing with who appears to be Hanashi.  He appears to be gesturing wildly.

John nodded and started prepping the rope for the man to climb. "Would you mind opening your mouth for me?" He suspected the man's tongue had been cut out. He was breathing so his air way was clear. "A quick once over and we can get you out of the pit. If you can't talk I can get you some ink and paper."

Shosuro Akira grips the rope, ready to pull it as soon as John is done with the man. "That is Hanashi. The Lord's favourite. Or ex-favourite. He has lots of explaining to do."
