Nymph is beautiful to be sure but she is also very noisy when she wants to be. Count John talks to the firearm just as he does his tools. Though it's all in thick brittish.

It would please John to no end to first have the weapon blessed by a highly magical creature then enchanted. Enough enchantment and Nymph will speak back!

I can make wonderous items and magical potions John, but I've not branched out to magical arms and armor... I am considering whether to: feats are few and far between and 'nerf' you elsewhere if you spend them on non combat stuff. I think it depends if we get to level 5 (the first level I could learn it)

Just cultural info: In Rokugan and China poisons are the big 'hell no'. Utterly dishonourable and only ninja's would use them. Note that the oriental culture despises Ninjas. For example 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' had to be rebranded. In the west we have a different image of them: glamorised.

I think you are saying that because the Scorpions (on the whole) have no sense of honour some of them may want your services :) I think that's probably true.

More that their sense of honor is better refined to allow them to use any and all tools to better to their duty.

The scorps, after all, are the real mvps.

There's a definition of honour in Rokugan and Japan and that isn't the definition. You can invent your own personal definition of course, it's just that it's not the definition of the genre that we are playing in. It's an absolute.

Another part of the culture though is the difference between shame and guilt. Shame is a feeling that you have because other people know you've done wrong. Guilt is a feeling you have because you did wrong. In the West we are taught to feel guilt when we do bad, in the East we are taught shame when we are found out. The Scorpions are exemplars of this.

The review I read was that the lions were the right hand and the phoenix the left. Perhaps there is more than one interpretation. Being a loyal phoenix I'll stick with this one :)

I found a link to the crane being the left. Interesting. In all the games we played, that never came up. I guess it's all a consequence of who was GMing the games you played and the stories he wanted to tell

The Phoenix is the Voice of the Emperor... unless the emperor decides to choose another one. But since Toturi III, they are the Voice by default.
