Standard starting equipment otherwise?

Standard gear yes,  I will likely add gear that would be standard issue.  Ie a bag, b bag gear.  While you would not have everything.  You would have more gear like field jacket/liner or ecws parka and fleece.  Sleeping bag, poncho. And or liner. Maybe shelter half and poles,  ect

OK, I think I'm more or less done. I need to give some thought to her moral code - I tend to prefer to let the character find their own way as the game progresses as sometimes they go in directions other than I might have intended during creation and I'm not sure about how she met the group as I don't know what the GM's plans are there - are we going to be a pre existing group that have been together before this Op (in which case she would have been assigned / drafted / voluntold) or are we starting off as waifs and strays who come together in the aftermath of the Division being overrun?

The American "SMG" is the M4 (at least as far as Twilight 2k is concerned). Unless you're a gunsmith it's really just a short M16 anyway.

That's because in the late 80s when T2K was originally written the M4 was in the future.

This version has the advantage of hindsight. M4s came out in '93 and were adopted in '94 so would have been very much in use when WW3 kicked off in '95. In fact the weird part now is that they aren't available to regular infantry.

I have my character loaded up for review, it should all be correct but if you see anything off let me know and I will fix it.

I did make one minor change, the starting gear lists ab assault rifle, and being polish that would have been one of the AK variants. Being polish nd a vehicle crew type I went with the PM-84 SMG instead. It was primarily issued to vehicle crew and is easier to maneuver in and out of a vehicle. If need be I can swap it back to any rifle you prefer. It is mainly flavor to me.

Re: O.C.C

I remember testing the m4 and the c mag back in 91-92.  We liked the m4 hated the pos c-mag,  if you hit the ground the cmag was likely to either rip out of the weapon or break at the throat of the mag well.  It s@&$.  The only issue was in range the m16 seemed to be able to hit reliably out to 300-400 meters the m4 at the time was lucky to hit at 300 w/o a serious off set.

The pm84 is fine we will see how long ammo lasts or can be found.  That is the big difference between the older generations of the game and this one,  foraging and scrounging are far more fundamental to the game, and even setting up camp is a magic task, that can have serious consequences to the party.  And there are no real dump stats or skills unlike other games.

For our three players when you are ready let me know,  I will be able to keep up with daily posting usually,  let’s try for daily or at least every other day,  to keep the flow active.

Re: O.C.C

In terms of the character build I'm more or less good to go.

I did have some questions about gear other than what my archetype says that I start with. I know that there's a table for group gear which we need to add (but which is affected by the number of players). But what about additional personal gear, for example gas mask / filters, etc? I know you mentioned it earlier, but I'm not clear on what we should have.

Also, how are we staring? Are we already a unit, in which case our characters presumably know each other, or are we going to end up flung together through circumstance? I don't mind either way, but if the former I'd like a little more detail, like which unit, how long we've known each other, what our structure is, etc.

With regards posting, I'll post as often as I'm able but daily posting is probably a bit of a stretch, especially at this time of year.

Lastly, what's a box? An NPC?

“Npc” yes.  The tables for group gear is on page 18 and each player get one pick,  I’ll figure out how I want to do gear tomorrow.  I may give  % chance for items or just hand waive.  I’ll let you know.
I would say you were in the same unit.  But if you are together now or find each other is the question.  I’m opening the game 4 July 2020.  Right after the pyrrhic battle.

Re: O.C.C

We may be getting 2 more players for the game I am waiting on either concept for 1 or character sheet for the other I am also adding 1 radiation detector w/batteries to the group gear pick list.

Since you are military personal gear in the game rules is a bit light.

So I am adding gear availability.  If you think I forgot something, let me know.

75% poncho
50% poncho liner
70% intermediate cold weather sleeping bag or other national equivalent.
40% bivvybag for us or British military
70% m40 or m17 protective mask or national equivalent w1 nbc filter.
50% 1d3 nbc filters
30% 1d3 decon kits. Only 1 such chance for the group not by individual.
50% 2 quart canteen w/ cover.
Contrary to the listed rules for the group pull.  Everyone will have a 70% chance of having either a Alice large or medium pack.
I will leave a pack on the group pull list in case someone rolls poorly there is still a chance to have a ruck.
Us personnel will have a 30% chance of having a machete.
75% entrenching tool. Based on national type.
30% axe or hatchet.
50% shelter half w/poles and ropes. Based on national issue.

If I forgot something you think should be here let me know your suggestion. If you think the percentage should be different I will consider the suggestion.  Remember the war has been going on for years and the nuke strikes were 2 years before.  Supply chains no longer exist.  Items wear out, break, or are lost or destroyed.  I know most us vehicles have a “pioneer tool set”. BUT….. if it still there or not is a question.

e.g. we each roll for a poncho and anyone that rolls 75 or less has one?

Also, my gear options for my archetype include a rucksack so presumed I had one (albeit I have very little to put into it).

If anyone can think of a better method for iniative let me know I do not like draw a card and trust luck approach.  I am considering having a cuff roll to lower iniative based on success. Maybe a perception and cuff roll successes lower your iniative, from the card. What do you think?

Fuel cap on an M3 is around 700 lt so 100 lt is still a fuel shortage as far as I am concerned.

round robin it; good guys post an action, bad guys post an action. questions asked in OOC to Warlord that correspond to said action. GM hides bad guys rolls and narrates outcomes to build suspense.

repeat.

gives everyone a chance to act based on what has happened in game to that moment in time. players post their rolls, but the GM has say to narrate actual outcomes.

no one has to wait in sequence until someone else posts. if someone has a RL issue that keeps them away for a while then just move on and let them jump back in when they can. no back posting or retconning of posts. just keep moving forward.

As an guide I posted the real world stats for an m3a2 Bradley.  Yours will have less ammo of course but it will give you an idea of what you have.  I will figure out your ammo and gas tomorrow.  I will also get another vechile for the rest of the group since the cav track only has room for 2 observers.
Any questions let me know.

As far as the number I picked a good one.  It would have arrived I. Country just as the war was kicking off.  I will allow the group to choose the weapon system.  The choices are m2, m240b, or a mark 19.  Let me know what you choose.

i have binoculars already. but i don't tech, medical aide, or command. recon, ranged combat, and marching. NBC specialist, but not tech skill to back it up. Ranger, Paratrooper, Rifleman, so he is a good grunt. But, I did pick up scrounging as a street kid back home, but no survival. so, yeah, shoot and scoot, but little else.

It would be nice if I could be scrounging for some odd bit when the IFV rolls along. I don't mind bumming a ride, even on top.

I agree with Mrs. Healingtouch, we could use more medical gear. Getting shot or shelled in this game is no joke.

I'll take the food as my group pick. I agree ammo would be good as well (especially since the dice roller hated me in char gen) but I figured either someone else might pick that and / or it might be easier to loot than food as we go along.

10:48, Today: HM3 Cass Sinclaire rolled 4 using 1d6.  Food rations (Group pick).

Warlord, do you want me to add that to my individual sheet or are we recording group stuff centrally somewhere?

Also, Cass has surgical instruments and four medikits as part of her starting gear. And no skills that are going to be any use operating a Bradley. She was designed as a medic with low levels of recon and survival to give her a back up role as a scout / forager.

For now just put the food on your sheet.  The build is fine,  the situation the group is in is far from ideal. But that is part of the story how will the character develop during the worst disaster in recorded history.
This is a poor medium for gaming but it is a medium,  I wish we were at a table playing there are many details I would love to add to the game but typing is slow and is far more difficult to express the dark vibrancy that could be expressed in the spoken word.

Re: O.C.C

Hmmm, advantages all around. The m240 has ammo compatibility with what we already have, pretty versatile as well. The m2 is just darn handy and a good option, probably my personal pick, though ammo may be harder to find. The m19 just makes me giggle, on a personal level I love it and it is a close second to the m2, but ammo is going to be at least as hard to find, but the punch is handy.

Over all I would say m2/m19 as my primary pick, I am ok with either, and m240 as the secondary pick for versatility and ammo compatibility.  In truth I think any of the three will serve us well.

That is correct and they benefit from either Vehicle Gunner or Launcher Crew (depending on the weapon).

Weird thing about Wire Guided weapons is you fire them one round and then roll to hit the next round when they reach the target. I think this was based on the idea that the ranges would be pretty long but RAW the procedure is the same.

It's a real town/place in Poland about 3km SW of Kalisz.

North of Maczniki, South of Koscielna Wies.

A Straight line from Kalisz to Kurow goes through Dobrzec.

I’d like to see answers for #4, 5 & 6. I found Dobrzec as a place on Google Maps but it’s not listed on either Twilight 2000 1st Ed. map nor the 4th ed. map. For the Humvee crowd, the trip to Dobrvec would involve crossing two rivers and roughly 80-plus kilometers of travel through contested country.

Why Dobrvec? Are the two groups really that far apart that they can’t be closer and link up sooner?

David designated Dobrzec as a rally point.According to google maps Dobrzec is just west of Kalisz.

Wally thinks we’re several klicks NW of Szadek.

The two vehicles are approx 1km away from each other.

Szadek to Dobrzec is approx 74 km by road according to google maps.

So our rally point is 74 km away? Is that right? Or is there another nav error somewhere?

Alright Not the best direction but the hummer is south of highway 710 and west of some road the first letters look like bard?? Something.  The Bradley just took out the t62 covering highway 710.  The number and the Bradley are in mixed foods and farm land the whole area appears to be small roads, farmland crossed roughly east- west by highway 710.
The humvee did a rest overnight in a group of trees due to being so fatigued.  There is a ruined farm house not to far away but you did not want to risk the remains of the building in the dark. The humvee is pointed NNE roughly.  And the Bradley is pointed SW roughly,  immediately north of highway 710 in some farmland.

I posted what I hope is clearer directions.  The game map is not exactly accurate on the game map you are in 21u nearly into 20u.  The “highway” goes east-west through on area of farm land, farms, and what looks like very small villages.  The game map is not accurate to real distance, and the many small roads in the region. Does that help??

So the source of this confusion is that I (the player not David) assumed we were in Kalisz instead of asking the GM where we are.

Dobrzec is close and in the right direction IF you're already in Kalisz. We ain't.

I'm going to put it down to fatigue (and let David take the blame for my mistake like a good manager) and correct it as soon as he finds out how off target his rally point is.

Reasonable,  I did post you all were exhausted.  I did not actually use the rules to reflect this since I did it as a narrative action rather than something the group did.  David did make an assumption that he did not ask about.  I did ask wrongly for a recon roll where it should have need a survival roll.  Some where in either this or the active thread I revised and asked Dave for both.  I got a recon roll which Ed showed they62 but David assumed the location.  It can happen in real life when there is stress and exhaustion Wally did ask and has a very goo roll so he is pretty close to knowing where you are.  I do not like the lack of detail or accuracy in the game map so to give some authenticity to the game I’m trying to use some real world resources to try and make things feel more realistic.  I did create some confusion but it was trying to compare game world to real world geography.

I'd recommend using google maps to create a game map that can be shared with players online. That way everyone can see straight away where they are (or at least think they are).

It does have one draw back, namely that it's based on the real World now so it's not going to be an exact match for Poland circa Year 2000 but benefits far outweigh downsides.

Not unexpected for this kind of venue.  But it is disappointing.  The player had good posting but the character did not really fit what I think he expected.  We’ll hold onto the character and see if someone wants it I may post it and see.  She may become a disposable npc.

I have a question for everyone. I didn’t do too well on my latest Recon roll which was a 7 and a 1. Should I go ahead ‘push the roll?’ I cannot reroll the skill roll as it is a 1. The 7 for the attribute roll is a success and pushing it allows me to reroll again with the chance of achieving two successes (or a failure). What would you guys do?

Re: O.C.C

In our local tabletop games we actually house ruled it to work that way (straight adds and subtractions instead of die type increments). I personally like it a lot better because then the specializations always matter.

By the way; Winona is a Sniper. Does she, by chance, have Infiltrator? That would have given you another bump to the die type.

In this case, if the only purpose for this roll is to conceal you from the group near the Bradley, I would not push. It could give you a point of stress you can't get rid of until we get to rest again (likely most of a day at least).

Hmm, considering you can't re-roll the 1, I wouldn't do it. You got 1 success, and you only have a 10% chance o a d10 to get 2 successes, whereas you have a 50% chance of losing the success you already rolled. Not worth it in my opinion.

so, that was really drawn out conversation. i always used the simple rule of thumb of 'don't push a roll that won't save a situation'.

also, had to do an edit here, why is it that you guys are so worried about sneaking up a Bradley. Call ahead if you have a radio. If not, what in the hell are you going to do if it were bad guys and you got spotted?
