Re: O.C.C

OK, I think I'm more or less done. I need to give some thought to her moral code - I tend to prefer to let the character find their own way as the game progresses as sometimes they go in directions other than I might have intended during creation and I'm not sure about how she met the group as I don't know what the GM's plans are there - are we going to be a pre existing group that have been together before this Op (in which case she would have been assigned / drafted / voluntold) or are we starting off as waifs and strays who come together in the aftermath of the Division being overrun?

Cass Sinclaire:
The Medic archetype states that personal weapon should be an SMG appropriate to nationality but there doesn't appear to be an American SMG so I presume I can choose an M16 instead.

The American "SMG" is the M4 (at least as far as Twilight 2k is concerned). Unless you're a gunsmith it's really just a short M16 anyway.

In reply to Capt. David Hawkins (msg # 25):

Previous times I've played Twilight the M4 carbine has always been a rare beast due to its relatively late in service date. I figured a Navy 'orphan' would have been given what was most readily available. I could even see her with an M3 grease gun...

Re: O.C.C

A smg  could be an mp5,  that was used I know.  The military just approved a b and t smg within the last couple of years.  I’ll allow either an mp5 or an m16/m4.  For you to use.

That's because in the late 80s when T2K was originally written the M4 was in the future.

This version has the advantage of hindsight. M4s came out in '93 and were adopted in '94 so would have been very much in use when WW3 kicked off in '95. In fact the weird part now is that they aren't available to regular infantry.

Re: O.C.C

I have my character loaded up for review, it should all be correct but if you see anything off let me know and I will fix it.

I did make one minor change, the starting gear lists ab assault rifle, and being polish that would have been one of the AK variants. Being polish nd a vehicle crew type I went with the PM-84 SMG instead. It was primarily issued to vehicle crew and is easier to maneuver in and out of a vehicle. If need be I can swap it back to any rifle you prefer. It is mainly flavor to me.

Re: O.C.C

I remember testing the m4 and the c mag back in 91-92.  We liked the m4 hated the pos c-mag,  if you hit the ground the cmag was likely to either rip out of the weapon or break at the throat of the mag well.  It s@&$.  The only issue was in range the m16 seemed to be able to hit reliably out to 300-400 meters the m4 at the time was lucky to hit at 300 w/o a serious off set.

The pm84 is fine we will see how long ammo lasts or can be found.  That is the big difference between the older generations of the game and this one,  foraging and scrounging are far more fundamental to the game, and even setting up camp is a magic task, that can have serious consequences to the party.  And there are no real dump stats or skills unlike other games.

Re: O.C.C

I’ve updated the game to show accepting players and that it is for mature gamers.  It has been a long time since I’ve played on the forum it took me awhile to remember how to change the settings.  One player will not be able to start until the end of the month, due to personal issues.  I will allow him until the eom to rejoin.  With only 3 players I am inclined to add an box or two to help.  But I will see how the game goes.
For our three players when you are ready let me know,  I will be able to keep up with daily posting usually,  let’s try for daily or at least every other day,  to keep the flow active.

Re: O.C.C

In terms of the character build I'm more or less good to go.

I did have some questions about gear other than what my archetype says that I start with. I know that there's a table for group gear which we need to add (but which is affected by the number of players). But what about additional personal gear, for example gas mask / filters, etc? I know you mentioned it earlier, but I'm not clear on what we should have.

Also, how are we staring? Are we already a unit, in which case our characters presumably know each other, or are we going to end up flung together through circumstance? I don't mind either way, but if the former I'd like a little more detail, like which unit, how long we've known each other, what our structure is, etc.

With regards posting, I'll post as often as I'm able but daily posting is probably a bit of a stretch, especially at this time of year.

Lastly, what's a box? An NPC?

Re: O.C.C

“Npc” yes.  The tables for group gear is on page 18 and each player get one pick,  I’ll figure out how I want to do gear tomorrow.  I may give  % chance for items or just hand waive.  I’ll let you know.
I would say you were in the same unit.  But if you are together now or find each other is the question.  I’m opening the game 4 July 2020.  Right after the pyrrhic battle.

Re: O.C.C

We may be getting 2 more players for the game I am waiting on either concept for 1 or character sheet for the other I am also adding 1 radiation detector w/batteries to the group gear pick list.

Since you are military personal gear in the game rules is a bit light.

So I am adding gear availability.  If you think I forgot something, let me know.

75% poncho
50% poncho liner
70% intermediate cold weather sleeping bag or other national equivalent.
40% bivvybag for us or British military
70% m40 or m17 protective mask or national equivalent w1 nbc filter.
50% 1d3 nbc filters
30% 1d3 decon kits. Only 1 such chance for the group not by individual.
50% 2 quart canteen w/ cover.
Contrary to the listed rules for the group pull.  Everyone will have a 70% chance of having either a Alice large or medium pack.
I will leave a pack on the group pull list in case someone rolls poorly there is still a chance to have a ruck.
Us personnel will have a 30% chance of having a machete.
75% entrenching tool. Based on national type.
30% axe or hatchet.
50% shelter half w/poles and ropes. Based on national issue.

If I forgot something you think should be here let me know your suggestion. If you think the percentage should be different I will consider the suggestion.  Remember the war has been going on for years and the nuke strikes were 2 years before.  Supply chains no longer exist.  Items wear out, break, or are lost or destroyed.  I know most us vehicles have a “pioneer tool set”. BUT….. if it still there or not is a question.

Re: O.C.C

So we would check for each of these items or is this the chance of having one of them if we use a pick on it?

Re: O.C.C

Yeah, I’m a little unclear here. Does each one of us roll for each of the above except where specified, e.g. the decon kits.

e.g. we each roll for a poncho and anyone that rolls 75 or less has one?

Also, my gear options for my archetype include a rucksack so presumed I had one (albeit I have very little to put into it).

Re: O.C.C

Yes, everyone can roll the percentages and if you succeed then you have the gear.  If you already have an item you do not roll for it a second time.

Re: O.C.C

Bivvybag
1 NBC filter
Lg. ALICE Pack
Machete
E-Tool
Shelter Half with Poles and ropes.

Useful stuff but the RNG was not particularly kind.

Actually upon reflection I think the RNG treated me well.
