It's a real town/place in Poland about 3km SW of Kalisz.

North of Maczniki, South of Koscielna Wies.

A Straight line from Kalisz to Kurow goes through Dobrzec.

In reply to SSG. John Buckley (msg # 104):

I’d like to see answers for #4, 5 & 6. I found Dobrzec as a place on Google Maps but it’s not listed on either Twilight 2000 1st Ed. map nor the 4th ed. map. For the Humvee crowd, the trip to Dobrvec would involve crossing two rivers and roughly 80-plus kilometers of travel through contested country.

Why Dobrvec? Are the two groups really that far apart that they can’t be closer and link up sooner?

We couldn't talk on radios either. 80km is 50 miles, by the way.

Sorry got tired and went to bed before answering the rest of the questions,
4&5 apparently not badly I just could not find the place.
6&7 you roughly have an idea it’s location you heard the 14.5 and the 25mm you did not see the t62 but you certainly heard the explosion.  You would guesstimate the Bradley is about 1 give or take klicks directly ahead of you. I’ll get back to you about the cardinal dorection.

Re: O.C.C

I don’t mind my character being lost IC but I’m kinda lost OOC.

David designated Dobrzec as a rally point.According to google maps Dobrzec is just west of Kalisz.

Wally thinks we’re several klicks NW of Szadek.

The two vehicles are approx 1km away from each other.

Szadek to Dobrzec is approx 74 km by road according to google maps.

So our rally point is 74 km away? Is that right? Or is there another nav error somewhere?

Re: O.C.C

Alright Not the best direction but the hummer is south of highway 710 and west of some road the first letters look like bard?? Something.  The Bradley just took out the t62 covering highway 710.  The number and the Bradley are in mixed foods and farm land the whole area appears to be small roads, farmland crossed roughly east- west by highway 710.
The humvee did a rest overnight in a group of trees due to being so fatigued.  There is a ruined farm house not to far away but you did not want to risk the remains of the building in the dark. The humvee is pointed NNE roughly.  And the Bradley is pointed SW roughly,  immediately north of highway 710 in some farmland.

Re: O.C.C

I posted what I hope is clearer directions.  The game map is not exactly accurate on the game map you are in 21u nearly into 20u.  The “highway” goes east-west through on area of farm land, farms, and what looks like very small villages.  The game map is not accurate to real distance, and the many small roads in the region. Does that help??

Re: O.C.C

So the source of this confusion is that I (the player not David) assumed we were in Kalisz instead of asking the GM where we are.

Dobrzec is close and in the right direction IF you're already in Kalisz. We ain't.

I'm going to put it down to fatigue (and let David take the blame for my mistake like a good manager) and correct it as soon as he finds out how off target his rally point is.

Re: O.C.C

Reasonable,  I did post you all were exhausted.  I did not actually use the rules to reflect this since I did it as a narrative action rather than something the group did.  David did make an assumption that he did not ask about.  I did ask wrongly for a recon roll where it should have need a survival roll.  Some where in either this or the active thread I revised and asked Dave for both.  I got a recon roll which Ed showed they62 but David assumed the location.  It can happen in real life when there is stress and exhaustion Wally did ask and has a very goo roll so he is pretty close to knowing where you are.  I do not like the lack of detail or accuracy in the game map so to give some authenticity to the game I’m trying to use some real world resources to try and make things feel more realistic.  I did create some confusion but it was trying to compare game world to real world geography.

Are you indicating the hummer is west of the road going south from 710 toward Babiniec?

I'd recommend using google maps to create a game map that can be shared with players online. That way everyone can see straight away where they are (or at least think they are).

It does have one draw back, namely that it's based on the real World now so it's not going to be an exact match for Poland circa Year 2000 but benefits far outweigh downsides.

Re: O.C.C

Blowing up the map far to much it looks like the road name is Dubruchow it looks like a north south road a few klicks west of your position.  If you keep going west on 710 you will be in szadek which looks like a medium city.

For the record David is supposed to be a really inspirational dude.

He has a specialty called "Frontline Leader" that can actually bring back a person who is incapacitated by Stress Damage.

My dialogue may not be up to displaying that ability but I will try.
