Night of the Full Moon - Ann's House

As Inoue knocks upon Ann's door and Ann's father goes to answer there is a sound like a pack of dogs howling.

Can Inoue determine if they are just dogs or something a bit more lunar in nature?

Night of the Full Moon - Ann's House

In reply to Inoue Miko (msg # 2):
Not exactly, Inoue.  If you concentrate, you hear the chorus of howls begins with a single drawn out howl from the other side of CCAT.  It sounds like a fox to you.    Maybe it's a wolf or a jackal if they have either in England but that howl is followed by first one, then another then score or so of dogs howling in the neighbourhood as if people's pet dogs had suddenly become possessed by the urge to howl at the moon like lunatics.

Inoue frowns a little, but eventually decides that the howling dogs are not her concern. Their antics would make it more difficult to hear what she is listening for, however... she tries not to think about that.

Knock knock knock~!

"Oh!" Inoue starts a little when she sees a man answer Ann's door. Right, parents. Normal people have those! She flashes her most awkwardly charming and harmless-seeming smile. "Ah- hello... miiiister Winters?" she tries experimentally. "I am a friend of Ann's from school. Is she home, and may I please come in?"

Mr Winters smiles, he might have been handsome were he younger and possibly with more hair.  "Oh, you must be Inoue", he says with a fairly good pronunciation for a European.  "Just a moment."

He raised his voice and called up the stairs.  "Ann, you have a visitor." Then to Inoue he said, "Come in, would you like tea?"

Mr Winters brews a pot of Brooke Bond PG Tips as you await Ann's imminent arrival down the stairs.  A pot mind, and made from the leaves, not the teabags.  When it is ready, he places the pot on the tray beside a jug of milk and a bowl of brownish sugar lumps (which are most definitely not Tate and Lyle, more like proper sugar, probably from Arjuna).

Night of the Full Moon - Ann's House

Ann came down the stairs, dressed in just a towel and combing her still-wet hair.

"Who is it?"

She went quiet when she saw Inoue. Did this mean that there were supernatural occurrences to threaten her, and more importantly, stop her from having a fun night out?

"Oh, hi. Dad, this is Inoue. We're at school together."

Well, it was technically true. But she guessed their conversation wasn't to be had in front of her father.

She picked up her tea, thanking her father for it.

"Shall we go up to my room, Inoue? You can help me pick what to wear tonight."

Inoue removes her boots at the door with the aid of some side zippers. She looks around for a set of indoor shoes but doesn't find any; she'll never get over that particular different cultural norm. She watches Mr. Winters prepare the hot water beverage. "You take your tea very seriously," she notes with approval. "I might have to come over more often, haha~!"

"Ann! Ohayo~!" she greets the freshly-laundered Slayer. She nods to her then turns to the patriarch again, bowing with the tea carefully balanced in her hands still. "Thank you for your hospitality," she says before scurrying upstairs with Ann.

Once safely sequestered upstairs, Inoue drops the carefree vibe. "I had a horrifying vision," she explains. She sets her handbag (she'd picked up a cute leather satchel at a garage sale for a pound and with minimal holes!) on the bed and pulls out a sketch from stored in a spent paper towel tube and unrolls it on the bed for Ann to see. It was of a young woman (Rhiannon Davies) lying sick(?) in bed. Inoue looks up at her. "This woman is going to turn into a werewolf for the first time tonight," Inoue explains. "Do you know who she is?"

"It gets worse, though," Inoue continues. "As impossible as it seems, in my vision, as the moon reaches its zenith, it is snatched from the sky, causing all the werewolves to revert to their human state and leaving them vulnerable. I cannot imagine it is anything but a metaphor, but it is what I saw."

Night of the Full Moon - Ann's House

Ann's room was cramped, with a single bed and posters on the wall of pop bands and movie stars who she guessed Inoue wouldn't recognise. But at least she had her own room - the advantage of being the only girl in the family.

Ann looked at the picture, but returned it with a shake of her head while she proceeded to dress.

"The moon being snatched from the sky sounds bad, but surely werewolves turning human is a good thing. Perhaps embarrassing if they're suddenly naked, but at least they won't be eating any unfortunate bystanders. I can call my Watcher for advice if you like, though it will have to be from a payphone because that's not a conversation I want my parents to overhear."

Night of the Full Moon - Ann's House

Inoue meanders around the cramped space, feeling quite comfortable. Reminds her of her cramped living spaces back home. Could afford to be a little bit cleaner, though!

"Yeah, please do. Tides are very important. Wait!" Inoue touches her fingers to her temples. "Remembering something... do... do you know about a 'Joe the Goblin?' How about a Christopher Pressman? Chikusho! I cannot believe I did not follow up on this sooner! It did not seem relevant to you so I defaulted back to it not being my problem, but now..."

(( To be honest, with few exceptions I don't really like private threads. Metagaming isn't necessarily a bad thing; I've seen players set up some really funny moments. Plus, it's fun just to read what all the other players are up to. ))

The problem isn't metagaming, the problem is separating the threads of plot.  I can't really cope if the threads are all together for the time being.

Ann finished dressing and arranged her hair in the mirror.

"I've never heard of either of those people. Is Joe the Goblin an actual goblin? Who or what are they?"

Happy with the way she looked, she turned to Inoue.

"I'm not going to get to have fun and let my hair down tonight, am I?"

OOC: I'm happy for Alice to join this thread.

"I genuinely don't know. Joe does seem to be a very mundane name for a goblin. All I know is that they are Bad News. Capital B, capital N."
