The Taboo

"Have you ever had some one show you how to dance?" Elissa asked "There's levels of it right. You get the Bolshoi at the top. But to be good enough to do here... ten minutes is enough to just get going. You can do it with just 'one two three four' a little bit of memory work and get a set routine then ... and then ... well you'll feel good on the floor. "
she put her bottle on the bar and held out her hands "Come on girl... you know you want to. One .. two ... three .. four" slow simple moves. Two steps back, two steps forwards in time with the music luring and pulling Rhianon onto the floor.

"It's just move your feet one...two...three...four. We'll go join the girl with the gold pants. That's a hot hot hot look she has. She'll pull the guys and then we can pounce" there was a magic in the hands and steps, smoothing moving with the music telling Rhianon she could do it... telling her to come to the floor "Just do it. two steps forwards...two steps back"

Level 5 success 'Excellent' with dancing. I think that's a +3 on 'helping Rhiannon'

OOC: Ten for my roll, plus three for Elissa's help, and I believe that leaves me with a thoroughly acceptable level 3 success.

Maybe Elissa was right. Maybe all Rhiannon needed was the right teacher, a little practice, an attractive dance partner... well, ok, no, let's stop that train of thought before it hits uncharted territory. Put a pin in it for later, maybe. At any rate, El was right about one thing, Rhiannon really did want to dance, so she set her bottle down on the bar and joined the other girl on the dance floor.

Rhiannon followed the steps, slowly at first, but it was an easy enough pattern and she picked it up fairly quickly and before she knew it she was moving smoothly, maybe not as smooth or as graceful as Elissa, but at least not embarrassing herself. She was having fun, despite her earlier misgivings. Elissa mentioned the girl in the gold pants and Rhiannon looked about for a moment, smiling widely and nodding agreement as her eyes found Julie and they started dancing in that direction.

Elissa loved to dance, and it showed. And she loved having other people share it.. "Wow Rhiannon. No bullshit. That's great. You're a natural, girl. Flaunt it! One... two... three.. four" While she loved to show off on the dance floor, this wasn't the time for it. this was the time to help Rhiannon get this. To build her confidence so that she'd have a great time. Elissa kept her own dance simple but graceful as she led the two of them over to Julie

"Hey darlin'" she said to Julie "Love the outfit. Want to make a threesome? There's got to be some male talent out there, and we need to be the bait. Nothing draws them better then girlz dancing together. It's like moths to a flame. I'm Elissa. You can call me El. We're doing dancing lessons. You want in?"

"Sure!" she grinned, "I'm Julie."

Julie was relieved to be praised for her new outfit. She always had that nightmare of entering in new clothes and everyone laughing at her. This gave her renewed confidence in her dance moves.

"The boys always need a drink before they'll go all John Travolta."

Level 2, decent success - not too shabby seeing that her Art skill is zero!

"Hey Julie. Rhiannon here is finding her steps on the dance floor. You up for helping? There's three of us.. enough for a line. It's just the same as what Rhianon are doing now ... see the one two three four... only we stick in something more than just front and back. Dead easy once you've got this. See I'll show you"

Elissa danced around Rhiannon, somehow managing to make it in time with the music, and placed her hands on Rhiannon's hips "Just follow it. one .. two ... left three ..right four..."

"So what do you do Julie? And where can I get those pants?"

Something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VlHmEJ7ZSI

I suggest we don't keep rolling :) Once per scene seems fine for me. Your calls of course.
Just FYI. Creative successes (from the rule book):
1: Nothing wrong, but not too good. No rotton tomatoes but the audience is yawning
2: Decent. Looks competant
3: Good job. Gets genunine applause and a high five
4: Standing ovations, favourable reviews, maybe even a record contract
5: She's on fire! everything was perfect, and almost everyone loves what she did

Julie synchonised with the others, so they formed a sort of dance troupe.

"I got them in Jean Jeanie. They're new."

She grinned.

"I think we're attracting attention."

Rhiannon managed to flash a smile at Julie, but from the moment Elissa's hand touched her hip, that's where her attention was focused. A stranger, or even a casual acquaintance, might think the step that Rhiannon missed was down to nerves or unfamiliarity with the style, and that was part of it, but in truth it was mostly just the sudden, unfamiliar (but by no means unwelcome) sensation of Elissa's hand on her. She faltered, just a step, but caught herself and recovered, grinning shyly at the other girls.

She managed to mumble out a quick, "Good to meetcha, Julie. I'm Rhiannon. And yeah.... nice pants," before furrowing her brow in concentration and going back to focusing on the rhythm, the unfamiliar moves... the warmth of Elissa's hand on my hip....

A small, minute shake of the head to clear the intrusive thought, and she was back to keeping up well enough, even if it was clear this was unfamiliar ground for her.

The Taboo

The Boys were watching of course they were and so was Lisa another refugee from the hurricane.  She smiled to herself.  If that was her cup of tea, she'd be up to join in but instead, she took Leonard by the hand and half led, half dragged him onto the dance floor to compete with the girl on girl action going on up there.

As Lisa pressed her leather clad ass to the front of Leonard's black jeans, somebody turned on the strobes.  It was not long enough to set off anybody's grand mal, at least not this time, but the dances between Lisa and Leonard and between the women began to take on the shape of a cartoon orgy, lit only by lightning.  Soon after that, the floor was buzzing and Donna Summer's Love's Unkind  was throbbing and soon enough the dance floor was filled with enthusiastic but not always skilled dancers while the darkest corners, well they were....

"Now that's some dancing!" Elissa said laughing at the couple that were doing some version of the samba on the dance floor. "A vertical celebration of the horizontal" she was obviously quoting. And she could see Rhianon. See what the hands on her waist were doing. And that was just nice...

"Let's melt some eyeballs, too. Julia you keep doing that. We'll move in time with it. Rhiannon. Just relax. When I push move that way. When I pull...pull me towards me. When I spin...catch me"

It was perhaps a little over the top Elissa would think afterwards. But that couple couldn't steal the dance floor from her and her new acquaintences! And besides Rhiannon needed to let her hair down.

She opened with a low spinning self caressing move that oozed sexyness and wantonness, before flinging a leg onto Rhianons shoulder 'catch and hold' she breathed and arched her back in a way that radiated desire before climbing up Rhiannon's body on the recovery. 'ok walk one...two' she breathed as she strutted in time with Julia's '1 2 3 4'. 'just hold your hand up and walk 1 2 3 4' somehow she wasn't out of breath as she did a walking set of half spins away, half cuddles, and half climbing up and clinging using Rhianon's body as her target, still keeping in time with Julia's 1 2 3 4 "There you go" she said laughing as she stopped, still holding on to Rhiannon's hand. She loved to dance like that.

"We gave them a run for their money, girlz. Fancy a beer Julia? Rhianon? If we stop some of the boys will come to us and say 'do you want a dance'."

A bastardized version of the first forty seconds of this, with obviously simpler moves from Rhianon as they guy in this

It was all Rhiannon could do to keep up with Elissa's moves, but it was fun and all eyes (Rhiannon's most assuredly included) were on Elissa's performance, so if Rhiannon was nervously biting her lower lip or seemed distracted at all, it's not like it was obvious. That's what she told herself, anyway, as she scrambled to keep up, make the appropriate moves, pull and catch as necessary, ensure this moment lasted as long as possible...

When it was over, she was smiling. breathing heavier, still biting her lip absentmindedly, and she left her hand in Elissa's a little bit longer than mere friendliness would dictate. She nodded at the idea of a beer, and only let go of Elissa's hand at the mention of boys.

"Oh, yeah, sure, sure... always up for a good beer and a bad boy, or best offer. Think this one's my round anyway, ladies. Julie, what's your poison?" she said.

Making her way back to the bar to get the next round, she mumbled under her breath to herself in frustrated Welsh, "Iesu, ferch, tynnwch eich hun at ei gilydd. Dawns yn unig ydoedd, rydyn ni'n cael ychydig o hwyl yn unig, dim rhaid iddo olygu unrhyw beth."

"'scuse me Julia" Elissa said cheerfully, she was still on a bit of a high after that dance. For more than one reason. And there was something about her eyes that said 'she was on the prowl'. That she had an objective. "I'm going to help her get the beers, back in a minute"

Elissa followed Rhiannon to the bar, mulling over what she was going to do. Just checking what she'd felt during the dance. She'd enjoyed it, Rhiannon had... but there had been a little more than just the enjoyment. And the way Rhianon had dropped her hand when Elissa had mentioned 'boys'. But was Rhiannon consciously aware? "Say girl" Elissa said close to Rhiannon's ear as the barman was fetching the drinks: over the loud music that was the only way to talk. "Thanks for getting the drinks" She put her hand on the back of Rhiannon's and squeezed it. Just gently for a moment, before reaching for one of the beers to take back. The sort of thing that anyone watching might think didn't mean anything: just a thank you. Except it did mean something. "When we finish this.... what do you say if we skip the chasing for talent. We'll find someone for Julia, 'cos we ain't rude. And then maybe we can carry on that dance.... if you want. Just you and me" There was a question in Elissa's eyes as she asked it. And maybe a dare.

The Taboo

As Rhiannon and Elissa began their preparations to leave the club (and perhaps to fade to grey?).  A handsome young man approached Julie and asked her to dance.  He clearly has no fashion sense but he is certainly easy on the eye for all that.  He moves with confidence, but when he speaks, he speaks slowly, nervously as if unsure about talking to girls.  He offers his hand and hopes to god she'll take it.

"I promise I'm housetrained and never bite." he said.

Dancing in the strobes. Losing herself in the music as she tried to keep up with Elissa and Rhiannon. Julie barely heard the offer of a beer.

Just as she became aware the other two were no longer beside her, the young man approached. Julie smiled, and took his hand.

"That would be a shame."

Brendan takes Julie by the hand and leads her into a dance that attracts attention throughout the club but this time, it's not an attraction based on lust but on the dance itself.

He keeps time with Julie and with the music as he leads her into an almost symbiotic relationship with the song that's playing, and as the song keeps playing and the dance keeps going, it's almost as though Brendan and Julie have become King and Queen of the club and those around them mere subjects.

Julie whirled around the floor with Brendan. For all her dancing, she'd never danced like this, never been able to quite lose herself in the music with someone else. Hips and hands moving in time with the music, steering each other with the lightest of touches.

Finally, the song changed. Julie looked at Brendan, her face flushed but happy.

"That was great!"

It was usually a safe bet that a pub was cheaper than a nightclub. And it would be easier to talk somewhere where the music wasn't as loud.

There are two bars in the Prince Regent.  The back bar, which leads out onto Parker's Piece, is rowdy and full of people your own age, most of whom are students at CCAT.  It's barely any less noisy than the Taboo although there is a little more light.

Brendan takes Julie into the front bar though.  It is small, quiet and intimate and it's her first time of attending, it will be hard to picture this as the same pub.  "What would you like mocushla?" asks Brendan with a toothpaste smile and an emerald twinkle in his eye.  The Irishism is clearly a term of endearment.

Julie was intrigued by the handsome Brendan, but still a bit cautious. The bar he'd led her to meant few other students around, unlike the noisier back bar. Quieter and more intimate, yes, but she'd only just met him.

"What do you do? Are you another student?" she asked when he returned.

She suspected he wasn't, but it was a good enough ice breaker.
