It's not a huge deal.  I'm in a couple of games, so I'm on RPoL all the time, anyway, and there's no one else waiting.  We can just continue this game at whatever pace it continues.

Out of the blue, Ricka has returned, but expects a very slow posting rate.  Urvan and Scarlet, you're both welcome to jump back in any time.

A little busy with the new year coming, but I will likely be able to resume soon if the offer stands.

It will always stand.  I'm on RPoL every day, anyway, because of games I am playing in.  I'm always glad to see a new post in here.

@Scarlet:  In your post, you mentioned that you feel naked without your rapier, which was a good call because somebody would be bound to put it together if you had it.  However, you do still have that longsword which practically no one knows you have.  It would be unusual for a girl so young as Naiada to wear a longsword, and would cause talk, but it would be talk about that unusual island girl, not about 'who is that really?'

Take a look at the map (which I've uploaded as the primary game map), Naiada is supposed to be from Corcyra, which is an island off of Epirus.  (Recall your grandfather is Duke of Epirus.)  Your "cousin," now the Countess Brennalia Delfini, was originally from there but is now the lady of ...(hmm, it seems I didn't name the County, but it is definitely part of Epirus.  We'll just call the county Delfini, as well, even though Counts often don't always take the county name as theirs)  Corcyra is not part of Epirus, but is its own Duchy, though clearly not nearly as powerful as Epirus.

Your mild love interest from your previous chapter, Xavin, was from Gemlia, a coastal county which was also part of Epirus, and they had pirates that they had to deal with.  No doubt the history of Corcyra is tied up with pirates, as well, with some amount of maybe they were fighting the pirates, maybe they WERE the pirates.  Feel free to play with that.

I'm not sure Girl with Longsword would look all that different from Girl with Rapier, unless the observer knows more about swords than he knows about girls. I guess you're trying to help me stay armed for whatever comes next, but I think unless Scarlet can carry her rapier (visibly or hidden), her best bet would be something easily concealable, i.e. a dagger or stiletto. Or razor fan. Or poisoned hair needle.

Thanks for the geography notes, those are a very very welcome reminder, I didn't remember half of it.

Fair enough.  You can always assume you have a dagger; that wouldn't be terribly unusual, even for a teenager.

Scarlet d'Ardelle:
The baroness turns out to be a heavy drinking lass, who looks at Scarlet over the rim of her third glass of the morning.

"Oh, so you are the... one the lady said would come. Take a seat, and a glass, mmm? I love your hair. At least you're not a blonde, thank the Olympus. I hate blondes. They strut around like 'hey, I'm blonde, look at my tits'. Seriously. I have not met one who wasn't a slut. Pardon my Gallic, I'm not acting now, you know... Oh, acting! By Hera, that's the other thing I hate. Actresses, dancers, the whole lot! I don't know why we should tolerate such a disreputable entourage in court... well, I do. The men, of course! Any excuse to peep an ankle here, half a boob there, all with the flimsy excuse of a ballet or play! Outrageous. And to think some nobleladies are willing to let her daughters take up such rotten activities! Awful. Anyway. What do you do in your free time?"

Scarlet purses her lips and smiles, thinly.

Awesome!  That post is why I play these games.  I was laughing all the way through it.

Hehe he, glad you enjoyed it. Honestly it was a bit much for the roll, but I hate it when I ask the dice for promptd6and they give you middling results. I was looking for something dramatic, either great or awful, dammit!

Ricka has -almost- returned!  :)  This week is the last one I'm covering a bunch of extra duties at work due to vacations, but definitely expect posting from me over the weekend once I've caught up on sleep and so on.

I'm looking forward to it.  I have to admit that I find the avatar you use to be dizzyingly beautiful.  But that's not the only reason, oh no.  :-)

The wrap up that I put in your chapter 1 thread was a little long, but I had to fit in your free trait plus a little more on your nemesis plus you getting your eaglet.  Feel free to expand on the nemesis story, perhaps leave a hook or two that you find interesting.

Which reminds me, Scarlet needs a new nemesis, or maybe I need to figure out how to bring Alyssa back into the picture.  But Scarlet demolished her so severely...

Re: Out of Character

I've added to the Abilities thread, including editing the older posts to define the advanced versions of the level 1 abilities.  If these changes makes someone desperately want to retcon their choices, we can talk about it.  At the worst, I'll put a transition period on the change from what you selected to what you'd like to change to.

Typing now!  Do you mean her RPoL portrait or the jpeg I put in her cast list page?  Or both?  :)

We're setting up Blahvert the Brat as a nemesis character?  I'm not sure in Ricka's mind he'd be quite at Nemesis status, he'd be more just an annoying jerk who she'd just as soon forget about and never think of again, not someone meriting got-to-get-even type thoughts.  :)

Re: Out of Character

@Urvan, I wasn't even sure you (that is, you the character) would recognize the term Mormolyce.  From your back story, I thought that your parents had kept all that from you.  However, Iwo did save a lot of the books from your parents' library, so perhaps you read about it in the last two years.  It's fine either way you want to play it.

You do want to put Gratham down though.  You'll have serious issues if he is able to report back to Erastoo.  (If anybody richly deserves it, it's a sexual predator priest.)  Fortunately, his story is going to be wildly overblown, enough that nobody here in Osmeisley is going to take him seriously, except, perhaps, another priest of Hera.  You'll want to get to him before he is able to make such a report.

Alright, I'll edit here in a bit.

Was kind of getting mixed messages. It seemed like you inferred that going after him would be a bad idea.

Sorry.  I was implying that going after him in a huge public forum with guards nearby would be a bad idea.  And if he were killed by a kid with a huge dog in front of dozens if not hundreds of witnesses, that would certainly get back to Erastoo.  But I realized that I had misled you which is why I clarified.

As it is, there is just him claiming that a hell hound was after him.  The guards will not take him seriously at this point, but a priest of Hera might and Erastoo certainly will.

@Urvan, I knowingly put you in this moral crisis without really having planned a way for you to get out of it.  :-)  I knew from the beginning of this quest that you'd have to kill Gratham, though I had kind of thought that it would be a situation where he attacked you first so your conscience would be clear.  It, ummm, didn't work out that way.

While it is a tough decision, I want you to know that you should role-play properly.  If you think that Urvan would not kill an innocent priest of Hera, then play it that way and there will be *some* way out, even though I don't know what it is just yet.

It's a tough call for sure.

I'll have to give it some thought, after what he has been through, what his parents would have taught him, etc.
