Game Discussion
This poor thread has been languishing, so I'll put this here.
Scarlet's story is developing an interesting side plot, more or less by accident. It will move parallel to her mission which is similar to the missions Urvan and Ricka have, but will probably slow down her story noticeably. I plan to introduce similar side plots in the other two stories, both for character development and for keeping the pacing of the different stories similar. This is, of course, a classic writing technique: Consider all the Harry Potter books, they all have two separate stories going on in parallel, which then interact at the end. I don't promise that these stories will interact with the main one, but we'll see where it goes.
As always, I consider our stories to be collaborations, not just me handing stuff down. So I hope you enjoy these additional side plots, and I want to confirm that following them is not going to cause you to fail the main mission. If you don't enjoy them, simply don't pursue them. However, if you are too focused on the main story line, you might find yourself with a significant wait while the others catch up. Or maybe I'll add an additional adventure, and perhaps jump your character only by 1 year instead of 2. You won't level up faster, though. When the characters do interact, they'll be the same level.
I assume you've figured it from hints, especially if you're prone to perusing the NPCs thread periodically, but you all have animals that you are supposed to befriend: Urvan an Apollo Dog, Ricka a nesting pair of eagles, and Scarlet a Savannah Cat. I had to make the threads private because a big part of this scenario is coming up with techniques to learn about and befriend the animals while not getting caught doing it. It's too easy to see what someone else has done and say, "Yeah, I was going to do that," and it's true, sort of, but maybe there's a small detail which you would have overlooked that makes all the difference.
I'm already pleased at how differently the approaches are developing, so I hope you all enjoy reading each others' stories once they are archived.
