OOC Chat 1

I got one super high roll and the rest were all middle of the road. At least nothing super low!

Well, I also have 20 Strength and 18 Charisma, so maybe I am dumber than a rock and just as dextrous and also naive or whatever Wisdom is supposed to be, but I'm a strong and pretty half-orc! RAAAAGH!

Just don't pick a finesse weapon or multiclass as a Wizard and you should be fine.

Fate:
Alright, in the end I've decided to take one more Paladin to the game and with that, recruiting is closed for now.

Anyone need help with their characters?

I have the character already made.  Just need to roll stats and fill the character sheet.  It'll have to wait until tomorrow night though since i loathe doing it on my smart phone.

Reobold is a paranoid wizard with a good heart. Much too nice for these dark times. With most of his colleagues and masters either dead or turning to Hextor, Reobold flees North in hopes that the war doesn't follow him there.

Ok, so there's now an IC thread called the Caravan. You can post there even without a completed character sheet, we will start in earnest once everyone has their characters ready.

In reply to Karzag (msg # 27):

I was actually pretty lucky with my rolls, especially since online dice rollers usually don't seem to like me much.  And while I don't have typical rogue stats, that's okay since Cass isn't a typical rogue.

My sheet's mostly done, I'm just finalizing equipment and other such details.

Re: OOC Chat 1

I can't really think of things Bhagrim would have so he's going to be an comparatively wealthy individual who doesn't really spend his coin. It actually fits his person quite well. He was a dwarf smith of some skill working his craft for over a century and likely had plenty of jewelry and whatnot when he was forced to leave his mountain home. Ever since he's simply fighting, usually bare-chested. He never really spends his coin besides on basic needs. It fits the theme of the dwarves who tend to look at wealth differently.

If there's some uncommon magic item you want, you might spend it on that (depending on what it is). Those tend to be priced somewhere between 100-500gp, depending on what it is.

Could be a family heirloom or something.

Re: OOC Chat 1

Hmmm. I don't want to pick items that are combat-oriented since that's not something you're supposed to have at level 1. Something utilitarian would be nice. Some things that fit:

A Amulet of the Drunkard, which helps with the health recovery issue whilst remaining perfectly in-character! Being the barbarian I'll probably have the largest hp drops.
A +1 All-Purpose Tool, to prove dwarven superiority and potentially give a barbarian something to contribute outside of combat (one of the class' biggest failings).
A ring of warmth, so he can go bare-chested on top of a mountain.

Yeah, either of those could work, so make your choice and tell me.

Re: OOC Chat 1

At a second glance the All-purpose tool can only be used by artificers, so I'll go with the amulet of the drunkard.

So, our paladin has changed classes, but that's fine. Anyway, I've set up language groups, so  feel free to try them out. Assuming your are one of those who already have languages on their character sheet.

What would prevent a dwarf WITHOUT a Ring of Warmth from going bare-chested on a mountaintop if he really wanted to do so?

The bard could write for you a verse or maybe two
and could sing for you romantic songs of love
He could put your haphazard life story into words
That would fit you like a glove

The bard is a master of deception
and can avoid all reality
He could make you look like a hero
or a man (or Dwarf) of mystery

Young and full of life ready for adventure and enamored by the fleeing people. A song is always close to his lips, good or bad, and his lute always in his hands. Happy to join you all! I’ll get my sheet all done tonight. And post IC tonight too.

So, the final group is thus:

Cassidy, a Human Rogue (probably Thief archetype?).
Avri, a Human Cleric of Pelor (Light Domain).
Bhagrim, a Dwarf Barbarian.
Durgo, a Mountain Dwarf Ranger (melee focused).
Fenris, a Human Fighter (unarmed/grapple/two-handed-weapons).
Nedal, a Human Fiend-Pact Warlock.
Reobold, a Halfling Wizard.
Jaxson, a Human Bard.

Yes, if you could look over my sheet as well, please, Fate.  It's been a while since I made a character and I'm convinced I've forgotten something or gotten a bonus wrong.

Clarification question...

I'm getting the feeling from the Game info that all this is VERY recent, as in just for a few months, so all the stuff with the dwarves and the Dukes and whatever is still fresh for them.

Is that a misunderstanding?

Reobold's statement has led to some confusion for me...

I think there's a halfling that's soon gonna be punted by an angry dwarf barbarian.

Anyway, all of the character sheets seem fine to me.
