Some Game Rules

Posting Frequency.

I am at a computer from 8-5 Monday-Friday PST. I will look as often as I can to make "small" posts. I will make 2-3 "large" posts a week depending on the speed of the adventure and players, if I notice that all players have posted and further posting depends on me  I will do my best to post. Saturdays and Sundays will be more or less days off, I will look at the game when I can, but for the most part I will not post. The evening I will also be off, and will not post often, though I may make "small" post during that time.

Combat.

I will describe the scene and 80% or more of the time it will be theater of the mind. We will use 5 ranges. Melee, Short (0-30ft), mid (30-60ft), Long (60-90ft) and far (90+ft).

If you are within Melee AofO can happen and flanking is assumed if there two within melee, and attacking same target. If there is an odd number in melee one will be left without flanking. Those that share flanking must be stated each round.

Short distance more or less means you can move into melee in one round and at range (any ranged weapon that has ranged of 30ft or less is not considered at disadvantage, so darts a little better)

Mid distance tells us you are two actions from melee.

Long tells us your are three actions from melee

Far will be used as needed, and may be a determined distance or rounds from combat.

Each round will happen simultaneously. When combat begins I will list all the monsters AC and HP for player reference. The players will always go first, unless surprised. They will make a description of what they do, there saves or attack rolls as needed and called out, better to roll to much then not enough. Because I give HP and AC to all creatures. The player will know if there is a hit, miss, and how badly. If an attack requires a save, still roll damage.

The goal is for all players only make one post, and then the DM one post to sum up the previous round, and post the next round. During combat I would like a 24hr turn around per round. If more time is needed please let everyone know, and if possible faster rounds will be welcome, I try to keep this pace in combat, because as I am sure you all are aware combat can kill these games.

Metagame

If your character wouldn't know it, or is told they don't know it them assume they don't know it.

I also assume that there is lore and knowledge that is just known, like that orcs are aggressive, or that there are multiple dragon colors, or that trolls need fire to kill etc. But, if the knowledge seems random, or niche, then its meta.

I also assume that strategy is not meta. You are playing adventures that travel together and talk as you walk and do stuff. Days may pass in a single post. There were defiantly conversations during this time about what each of your were capable of. So when in combat and you have a cool or amazing plan that will only work with another player doing something specific, OOC it and make it happen. It impossible to IC everything that a typical adventure party may talk about.
