All right, my character is pretty much done. I haven't snagged gear, yet, and I only have one goal. I figure I'll make another after we get the official hook for the adventure.

I also need to make my ties.

Brikur is an early middle-aged gnome, who is out adventuring because he's searching for clues to what happened to his family. They were captured (or maybe killed? He doesn't like to think of that possibility) and he doesn't know by what or whom. So, he had a life before this adventuring, as a scholar as his background. I think he was probably a professor at a prestigious university, or something like that, and abandoned it all to seek the power to recover his family.

Perhaps Oberon and he bumped into each other looking for clues..... Oberon clan were wiped out while he was out on a hunting trip..... Perhaps whoever kidnapped / killed your family were the same as those that killed Oberon clan.... Just an rough idea

Very nice!

With Oberon understanding Brikur's pain, I think that would be a good connection.

Alright! I think everyone is added to the game and can post now!

Welcome again everyone! This should be pretty fun!

I’ll drop some of my thoughts on the world in general and other world building stuff soon. But feel free to make some characters, through the rest of your concepts out in here and let me and the group know of if there’s anything you really want out of the game or included in the world building.

Hey gang!

Glad to finally get to play Fantasy AGE! I've had it for a long time, run a few sessions of it, but haven't really gotten to dig in and get my hands dirty.

I'm a Cowboy/Contractor in remote Pacific NW, USA. Late 40's. I've got 1d12-2 kids and a great wife. RPOL is my creative outlet. Been playing RPGs since Red Box DnD as a kid. (1980's)

Alrighty! Welcome welcome!

Some things I’m thinking worldbuilding wise:
1.There will be guns (not very prevalent, but if you look hard enough or want one, you can find one)
2.There will be clockwork and steam work elements in some places and ruins (not everywhere though)
3. Most of the world will have the generic low fantasy quasimideval feel to give us the baseline tone for aesthetics
4. Lots of mystery and unexplored places in the world
5. Magic is kind of rare. People know what it is, but every town doesn’t have a mage. And a lot of people are suspicious if not kind of hostile towards it. And in some places there are witch hunts to get rid of magic and its users.
6. Travel is dangerous, so most people don’t move from city to city or town to town. And if you see someone on the road, they are there for a reason…
7. There are still magical creatures out there, although most don’t live long after encountering one

Some questions I have for you. I’m not really tied to anything and the idea I have for this first mission can work with anything, but big picture:
A.Is there anything in particular you want to add the the above list?
B.I’m going for horror/action adventure. Do we want political intrigue that you all are involved in? Is there a big war going on in the background? Do you want day in the life stuff?
C.I’m imagining episodic adventures, kind of like the old Conan stories, where you’re just around different places doing different things. Is that ok or do you prefer a more serialized type of story?

if there is clock work will there be flying ships as well or would that make it too high fantasy?

Also though I'm a warrior I don't want to have combat for the sake of having it. It has to be there to push the story on and have meaning to the adventure.

The world-building you've got looks fun to me!

I think it would be really cool if there was some kind of cold-war going on in the background. Maybe there was a war that ended a couple decades, and neither side feels like they won and are still maneuvering in the background, trying to get the upper hand, collecting weapons, ancient knowledge, powerful individuals, etc, to get ready for when it heats up again.

Personally, for my character, since we're going with an action/horror vibe, I'd like to torture him a bit. I'd like to find half-clues and rumors about his family's fate, but I never actually want to be on their trail or find them. They are his motivation and grief.

I like a episodic style for the game. Smaller, contained adventures are better suited for PbP anyway, as it is a rather slow moving medium.

And I really like what you got there already.

Sounds good then. I’ll keep on pushing in the direction I’m going. I will add in a war of some kind going on in the background.

Finally decided on a character.
Going to play a half ogre mage (using the blooded rules), looking like this https://i.pinimg.com/564x/27/3...30dc16df83ca04bc.jpg

Will be extremely unconventional playstyle wise.

A beastfolk warrior
A half ogre mage
A gnome mage

Nix have you got some strange and wonderful adventurer in mind to join our motley band?
