OOC: Pretty sure either the Plums or the Ebony Reeds are sources of magical essences, possibly both.

Player {Arjun Gandhi}: There's Shadow Essence in the Prolapsed Plums and Ebony Reeds. The Reeds aren't pure magic, though, so you should be able to make stuff out of them.

Player {Arjun Gandhi}: I just tried deconstructing some stuff. I got back about 90% of the material from a Lvl 1 craft recipe while at Craft 2. No idea if the levels are relevant.

Player {Emily Khorashandi} I suggest that whichever you buy, you save a little to pour over the side when the time comes to make expansions.  If the only materials are water, perhaps we'd get a disc of pure water?

Player {Otto Bruckner} Going to save mine and give that a try tomorrow. I'm thirsty for sure, but think I can hold out.

In other news, the vines are technically edible. Only really useful for staving off hunger pains though. Would not recommend anything else at this point.

PLAYER{Emily Khorashandi}  Arjun, I think it means you have a temporary increase in health above your usual maximum.  When I got permanent increases, both the numbers in and outside the parentheses went up.  This is interesting because it means that under some circumstances, my luck level may increase back to maximum.

Player {Arjun Gandhi}: Seems likely, except that I didn't get any titles for being the first to pick a class, or for being first to convince a Guest to become a member. And wasn't Otto offered a title as a Quest reward? I think Dmitri is right, but there's more to it than just that. There's a narrow range of Firsts.

Player {Arjun Gandhi}: None taken, dude. We're not gonna be able to figure this out if we worry about each other's feelings. I agree that choosing a class and generating Investiture are expected behaviors. But I'm pretty sure Otto's first quest was to find all the command windows or something, which also seems like expected behavior. And, honestly, rebelling against being kidnapped doesn't seem all that difficult to predict, either. Plus, how can they have a title ready for you if they weren't expecting it?

PLAYER {Dmitri Alvin Reslin}: My latest meditations have been on this problem, and it seems that interaction with the edge may be enough. I was trying speak Nodes into existence as expansions, which did not work, but maybe speaking expansions into existence while interacting with the edge where they are to appear may work.

Oh, has anyone invited our new person into the Party? I'll try, but it may require our Party leader to do so.

Player {Arjun Gandhi}: random thought: maybe the mineral water made such a larger disc because it was an ITEM with a higher cost? The ball wasn't a true ITEM, and neither was the quiver full of Regular Dirt (although individually they were ITEMs, they stopped being so when I combined them).
