The Shadow in the kite's Shadow was a gift given in appreciation for sufficiently entertaining one of the Observers, from what I can tell. The message very clearly said that it was only ever meant to last until we made somewhere with real Shadow Essence, and we seem to have done that today."

OOC: Pretty sure either the Plums or the Ebony Reeds are sources of magical essences, possibly both.

Player {Arjun Gandhi}: There's Shadow Essence in the Prolapsed Plums and Ebony Reeds. The Reeds aren't pure magic, though, so you should be able to make stuff out of them.

Player {Arjun Gandhi}: I just tried deconstructing some stuff. I got back about 90% of the material from a Lvl 1 craft recipe while at Craft 2. No idea if the levels are relevant.

Player {Emily Khorashandi} I suggest that whichever you buy, you save a little to pour over the side when the time comes to make expansions.  If the only materials are water, perhaps we'd get a disc of pure water?

Player {Otto Bruckner} Going to save mine and give that a try tomorrow. I'm thirsty for sure, but think I can hold out.

In other news, the vines are technically edible. Only really useful for staving off hunger pains though. Would not recommend anything else at this point.

Player {Arjun Gandhi}: Voice o' System says that the Investiture they announced "is greatly beneficial to The World."

Player {Arjun Gandhi}: Thoughts on Stats. I'm currently guessing that Health 3(2) means that it's supposed to be 2, but is currently 3.

PLAYER {Dmitri Alvin Reslin}: Trying to make pen, ink, and paper here. And I thought I was the Dissident here.

PLAYER{Emily Khorashandi}  Arjun, I think it means you have a temporary increase in health above your usual maximum.  When I got permanent increases, both the numbers in and outside the parentheses went up.  This is interesting because it means that under some circumstances, my luck level may increase back to maximum.

Player {Otto Bruckner} You were asking about Titles Arjun? I think I was the first to get one, "Seeker of First Blood" , seems like it was awarded for being the first in this world to kill something.

PLAYER {Dmitri Alvin Reslin}: Mine was awarded for being the first to openly criticize the {SYSTEM} entities. Titles appear to be awarded for being the first to do something noteworthy.

Player {Arjun Gandhi}: Seems likely, except that I didn't get any titles for being the first to pick a class, or for being first to convince a Guest to become a member. And wasn't Otto offered a title as a Quest reward? I think Dmitri is right, but there's more to it than just that. There's a narrow range of Firsts.

PLAYER {Dmitri Alvin Reslin}: I don't mean this as an insult, but choosing a class and convincing Guests to become Members were probably expected behaviors, so didn't qualify for a title. Open dissent against the SYSTEM entities was not expected.

Player {Arjun Gandhi}: None taken, dude. We're not gonna be able to figure this out if we worry about each other's feelings. I agree that choosing a class and generating Investiture are expected behaviors. But I'm pretty sure Otto's first quest was to find all the command windows or something, which also seems like expected behavior. And, honestly, rebelling against being kidnapped doesn't seem all that difficult to predict, either. Plus, how can they have a title ready for you if they weren't expecting it?

Player {Arjun Gandhi}: Agreed. We need more information, which means we need to identify what information we need, and then figure out how we can try to acquire it.

Player {Arjun Gandhi}: I believe the current scores in the Expansion League are Dmitri 2, Arjun 2, Otto 1, Rockabilly 1, and Jerry 1, with bonus points to Otto for making the most useful island! Big round of applause to Otto everybody. For tomorrow's 3, do we want to come up with some kind of Plan(tm)?

PLAYER {Dmitri Alvin Reslin}: I think whatever plan we use should involve trying to create expansions by means other than throwing things off the edge. That seems to be the best way to try to get something we need rather than something odd.

PLAYER {Dmitri Alvin Reslin}: My latest meditations have been on this problem, and it seems that interaction with the edge may be enough. I was trying speak Nodes into existence as expansions, which did not work, but maybe speaking expansions into existence while interacting with the edge where they are to appear may work.

Oh, has anyone invited our new person into the Party? I'll try, but it may require our Party leader to do so.

Player {Arjun Gandhi}: random thought: maybe the mineral water made such a larger disc because it was an ITEM with a higher cost? The ball wasn't a true ITEM, and neither was the quiver full of Regular Dirt (although individually they were ITEMs, they stopped being so when I combined them).
