The corridor extends on, mist rising from the floor. While this fog seems to be harmless, it does obstruct view at a distance.

There is almost no sound, other then the breathing of your group. Kelya makes a nervous chittering sound, and Louise caws on Hershel's shoulder. The other companions of the Wanderers stay silent, but the corridor itself is large enough to accomdate the large group very easily.

It's actually big enough for any large creature to easily move through it as well. That's when it happens.

"BOOOOOOO!"

The sudden HUD message pops up in front of every Wanderer.

"Boon Granted! You have taken your first steps into the spooooky labyrinth since reformatting! You have gotten the Step on your own grave boon!

You will get a Bronze loot box upon reaching a safe room. You ain't getting it now though..."
Came the AI's annoying voice.

Nathan immediately began looking around for threats "Give me a minute while I look for traps." He says You can go ahead and rush forward but I wouldn't recommend it. I wouldn't put it past our 'hosts' to start us with a trap directly in front of us because they think their audience would find it funny'

For the team name she'll type in 'The Chosen of Terra' the look towards towards everyone else. "Sound good considering our goal?" She will ask everyone silently in the group chat.

Tsuki paused a moment and cocked her head to one side. "Interesting. I see the mist and fog, but it's not obscuring my vision."

She reaches down and pets Keyla gently. "Shh, calm down. We'll be okay."

She then nodded to Nathan. "Alright."

Having followed that long but informative discussion and debate John agrees that we all need to stick together. He makes the appropriate gestures and commands to join the Party.

“Well here we go,” he says as they walk down the corridor.

“I’ll stick to the front too and help make sure the way is clear.”

With his bayoneted gun at the ready walks opposite of Nathan and a bit behind using his new perception skill to make sure the way is clear.

"Do you have any skills useful for that task? A weapon like yours would be more useful in the middle to rear of the group." She said making note of the gun. It also appeared she was asking more out of curiosity to gauge how to use those people with her at the moment.

"I have many skills now, but I'm not a front line fighter type by any means. I however don't want to be completely in the back, as I have abilities that can support the front line now and then if need be, and I can also better buff your guys' abilities in the middle as well." he said.

Quietly growling off of instinct alongside Louise, Hershel looked well beyond the corridor at something unseen. "Something...?" He says, mostly to himself. He makes no attempt to silence his feathered friend as he shared it's agitation in this place.

"I can go first." Hershel offers as he tunes in to the background chatter. "I was hungry anyway."

"I definitely remember the traps that I round into getting down here; so if any of y'all know how to look for them and maybe do something about them, I will definitely let y'all do that. If I chose things right, I believe I can be a help in a fight but I can also heal people when it is necessary."

Tsuki considered for a moment. "Okay, Nathan takes the lead so he can watch for traps. Me and Hershel behind them. Someone good at melee combat should stay in our rear too just incase. Everyone else, the middle." She said with a simple nod satisfied. Then she looked to Nathan and nodded. "Do your thing."

She then looked towards Keyla. "Keep your nose open my friend, if you smell something not us, let me know."

"I will make sure we always have visibility as well." Connor said as he reached up his hand to the air.

"Cabochon. You either get to be the fox's chew toy, or our light source. Choose quickly." Connor said.

The orbiting gems shuddered visibly at the thought of what Kayla could potentially do to him in the former choice, so taking the light option was hardly a choice at all for the familiar. It sent one of its constituent stones to rest on Connor's upright fingertip, when it suddenly burst into light from an indeterminant source! The gem sped off back into the swarm of stones that made up Cabochon's orbit-Body as a glow permeated the entire area.

Connor cats the light cantrip on Cabochon.

"This magic stuff is the best!" the wizard exclaimed as he took a middle position in the party's formation.

"I trying to do that right now. Perception is my talent" said Nathan while still studying the floor before the party. he gently blew on the floor to see the dust on the ground could help him find trip wires and hidden cracks in the floor.

"When I was in the Army I served a stint in a Explosive Ordinance Disposal unit. I can find trap and bypass or disable them I also not back at cobbling up and fixing thing with the right tools." He will smile after taking a quick look at his 'Crafting for Dummies' via his HUD. "and can sometime do that even 'McGuyver' something in a pinch."


"As to fighting I can do wells enough in ranged combat can often spot a enemies vulnerabilities which I will try to relay to you." Nathan will pause then continue "I can also do this in melee combat as well. I admit I am not a great front line fighter but I can help with distractions and timely strikes to help out the big guys."

As he is continuing with his search for traps he will ask. "Any one spot any threats further down the hall?"

Even as Nathan uses his breath to blow away the dust, he realizes there is a low lying mist over the floor. It's not very thick, but it does prevent people from seeing the floor clearly. The poor lighting in here makes it worse, but thankfully Conner's efforts had cleared that up for Nathan and the others.

That's when Nathan sees the flagstone that seems out of place. His efforts to move the dust show how its slightly elevated from the floor. He even hears a low hum from the stone, although its so quiet he needs to move his head closer to it.

Then, suddenly his HUD flares to life and everyone hears the familiar voice.

"BOON GRANTED!!

Wanderer Nathan has gotten the party pooper boon!

You have discovered a trap for the first time in the labyrinth without setting it off!

Yeah, yeah-it would have been really funny and only some of you might have died, but sure Mr big shot! Go ahead and pat yourself on the back!

As for your reward...you don't get anything! Party Poopers don't get rewards!"

"I believe as long as you don't step on this flagstone" Nathan will point to the raised flagstone "Let me check the floor as I move past it, so that will if I screwed up I will be the only one to pay the price."

He will check the floor as he move around the now obvious trap make sure that there are no other trap triggers blocking their way

Watching Connor and Nathan talk about the trap, John readies his gun, and is scanning the room.  Not sure if this trap will trigger an area of effect spell, or drop boulders on them, or release a door and skeletons come out to attack. His readies himself for a possible fight.

"I have no problem guarding the flank but right now, I'm not so sure a rear guard is really needed." He rumbles with his massive new lungs and a gesture to the blocked wall behind them. "I don't mind putting myself between the trap finder and the rest of the group. If that's what others would like currently."

Avoiding the trigger discovered by Nathan seems to do the trick. However, the corridor was slow going given the care your group has to check every 10 feet or so for a deadly surprise. It was then Nathan's HUD sends him a message.

"Trap Finder!

You can discover traps without even looking! Sometimes.

Now stop being a big chicken and head out already! We have traps to...ah...discover! Yeah, that's it..."


It's hard to trust the AI, but sure enough, Nathan finds he can notice traps without looking for them like he did in the army. Of course, the 'sometimes' does sounds really bad. In any case, he finds several pit dart traps on the walls, and has the party duck under them to keep going.

Time passes, and the group finally arrives at something other than a large corridor. It's a huge, round room, more than capable of holding the entire group and then some. You seem to be coming from a south corridor, you think, and there is a north corridor, and one to the east and west. There are runic symbols around each archway leading to the corridors, but the mist here seems extra thick.

Its then you hear the strange clicking and hissing noises. From above, you realize that you cannot see the ceiling. It just goes up into darkness, and that is where the hissing seems to be coming from the most. The mist seems to be even blocking line of sight for those of you able to see beyond Conner's light spell.  It's then you hear very familiar high pitch voices coming from the other corridors, and getting louder. You start to realize those voices sound familiar...

OOC-Roll Perception for your initiatives! Combat rules will be explained further once I get the attack order done.

"Figures" mumbles Nathan "I bet there are more surprises on the floor hidden in the fog. I would suggest we do not enter the room, hold them off in the doorway." He will look to Hershel and grin with a much smaller grin. "Let dinner come to you."

He glance at his HDD then study the floor for more surprised "Anyone else have caltrops? Want to see if putting some of them in the fog in front of us will slow their charge a bit?"

Sure enough, Dee and Tsuki called it correctly. Crawling down the walls from the massive overhead shaft has to be at least 10 eight legged shapes, barley visible in the mist. Trying to hit them from where you are will require ranged weapons of some kind.

At the same time, the high pitched squeaking voices coming from the shadows of every tunnel other than yours seem to speak to the truth of those small, armed blue creatures. They seem to be staying down and remaining further into the tunnels. However, all of you know from hard earned first hand experience that they prefer to use ranged weapons. Often poisoned with the venom of their spider pets.

Oddly enough, none of you, even Tsuki, can get a good enough look at any of them to see the AI's HUD description of the creatures. You all remember what they look like however...

For initiative, because this is a PBP system, we combine each side's initiative and compare it to the others.

You guys got a total of a 19.6666, which we round up to a 20.

The creatures got a total of a 14.

As we are not using maps, we will be expressing speed and distance by dividing the number by 5.

The small blue creatures are 8 spaces away, and have the benefits of hidden and concealed. However, Tsuki bypasses this concealment for her targeting purposes.

The Spiders are 5 spaces away, but up a wall. Unless you have a movement method or ranged attack, you cannot melee them. They have concealment, but not against Tsuki.

You all have 3 actions. More than one attack type action-like grapple, shove, etc. inflicts the multi-attack penalty.

Some spells and actions take up more than one action. Area effect spells will be judged on how many targets it can attack. Figure it can get 2 creatures every 10 feet of area effected, which may vary depending on situation.

Because some of your targets cannot be reached, you can do a ready or delay action in order to hit them when they move into range.

When you get into melee, because we are not using maps, it is assumed any creature with an intelligence of 3 or higher will attempt to flank(Aka-make its target flat-footed) its target when attacking with an ally. Any creature with the (E) marker is considered engaged with its foe. Two creatures on one equals auto flanking. This flanking is modified if the target has allies within one space of the other. I.E. Two creatures on one get auto flanking. Flanking is canceled if that target has an ally move within one space of it. Total numbers of foes will be compared in one melee , and if the difference is more to one side or the other, there may be some targets flanked but not all depending on the numbers.

Creatures that are engaged(E) may be vulnerable to attacks of opportunity if they move or do certain actions while in melee with another creature. Not all creatures can make attacks of opportunity. To avoid an attack of opportunity, spend one action doing the 'step' action, which will normally move you 1 space(5 foot).

People with shields(Jake), the shield spell(several casters), a special staff(Dee), or the reinforced steel glider cape over their wings(Malcom), must use an action to 'raise a shield' to get its AC bonus and possibly a shield block reaction. Malcom can raise a shield as a reaction, but then cannot shield block because everybody only gets 1 reaction a turn. Malcom can also use his one reaction to try and defend someone else getting attacked with his special champion ability.

When rolling to hit, please included your damage and possible effects. Remember, any roll 10+ over the dc is a crit, and 10- then DC is a crit miss. Some spell DCs are the targets save +10, or require a save from the target.

If spell requires a save from the target, please roll it for the critter in question to speed up combat!

Command Animal- point out the enemy for me.

Dee turns her back to the rest of the party and looks for the closest spider. Pointing her staff and with a mumbled prayer a lance of white light shoots out at said spider.

"Come on you tiny terrors and 8 legged freaks!"

Nathan will raise his musket and look through the scope in search of the enemy. If he can find a target he will attempt a shot before they close in.


Action 1-02:15, Today: Nathan rolled 19 using 1d20+10 devise a strategy.

Action 2-fire the musket, which would be doing damage to spider 1.

11:28, Today: Dr Feck, on behalf of Nathan, rolled 20 using 1d20 with rolls of 20.  Concealment.

Day 3. 88 hours, 20 minutes until level collapse

Connor decided to try and put his money where his mouth was. He declared that those who allied with him would enjoy his boons and facilitation, and so shall it be!

Making a strange, quick three motion movement with his hands, Connor gathered power to himself from within and from without. The air around him in a 5 foot radius began to sparkle brightly for a moment before receding into but a faint, gentle shimmer. Any of his party members who touched or were within this aura could somehow intuitively tell that this was a special sort of protective magic. Those who had magical knowledge skills knew this was no normal spell either. As "normal" as any spell was, mind you.

The monsters would find that striking anyone inside of the aura, which emanated from connor, was surely more difficult than it was before while his party enjoyed normal movement and functionality within it!

The faint, gentle field of protection starts small but with a clap of Connor;s hands, the field suddenly spreads and suddenly is roughly 15 feet in radius, which probably covers most if not all of the party.

OOC: So Connor is in the middle of the party so doesn't have to move really this round.

He spends 1 action to cast his focus spell, Protective Ward!  He and any allies in the area gain a +1 status bonus to AC. So everyone be aware you have a boost to AC! It starts as a 5 foot emanation from Connor.

He uses his second action to do sustain. While he doesn't need to this round, he wants to and nothing stops him from doing a sustain on his spell this round. This increases the radius to 10 feet.

...which then leads to his third action, widen spell! Since it is a 10 foot emanation he can add another 5 feet to it. So the aura now starts as a 15 foot radius aura. Which probably affects most if not all of the party!

Tsuki looked at Keyla, as if to tell her to stay, but said nothing. The fox at her side knew what to do.

Tsuki though, nodded once in confidence, and with three whips of her tail showed everyone just what she was capable of as three wisps of blue fire streak from her tail towards one of the spiders!

"Let's see how this works. Do I just think of pressing 'X'?" He flexes his wings out, crouches and vertically jumps to the edge of the sparkling aura. Then his steel wings flash out and let him seemingly hang in the air fifteen feet above everyone. His wings also shield most of those behind/beneath him.

OOC: Action 1: Everstand Stance
Action 2: Jump vertically and use the wings to drift. (Do I fall 5ft this round or not until next round?)
Action 3: If he can see the spiders now, he will take a shot at them. If not, he will stay as a living shield.

Day 3. 88 hours, 20 minutes until level collapse

Sure enough, various ranged attacks go off before the giant spiders and their mite masters can act. Nathan and Tsuki wound their targets, and Dee utterly vaporizes her spider.


The spiders proceeds to shoot webs at most of the party. Tsuki, protected by Malcom's spell avoids any touch of the sticky substance. Dee and Nathan are not so lucky. Two of the spiders remain on the walls 25' up, shooting webs at the flying Malcom, but to no avail.

Then the spiders descend, climbing effortless down a line of webbing, and proceeding to leap into combat with most of the group. Hershel is bitten, but the rest of the party avoids the clearly dripping fangs. Hershel manages to clamp down on one of his attackers, crushing the eight legged thing in his jaws.


It was then the Spider Mites moved out of hiding. Now visible, although somewhat concealed by the mist, each of the small creatures hurl darts with clearly tainted tips. Almost the entire group feels the sting of these weapons, but Dee shrugs it off with no effect, and Tsuki was once again saved by Conner's spell. Even Louise and Keyla get hit by the flying darts, and Hershel and Malcom get more than their fair share of the weapons. As soon as that happens, each Mite draws another dart from the bandoleers around their chests.

Because the Giant spiders are close enough to Melee, the HUD description is now visible.

"Giant Spider!

Normally the stuff of horror movies, these creatures have been controlled by the spider mites! While normally not so organized or trained to attack, the little blue bastards can actually talk to these things, and have told them how to roll over, fetch, and drain the vital liquids out of their prey! Not to mention milking the fangs for the venom to coat the tips of their weapons. Have fun with that..."

Current Statuses in effect:

(E)=You are in melee with this creature. You might get flanked, and if you try to move away wothout taking a step from target or use an interact action, you may get an attack of opportunity on you.

Concealed=Every hit needs an additional flat check DC 5 of d20+0. On a roll of 1-4, hit is actually a miss.

Webbed=You cannot move. In order to move, you must make an escape action, using athletics or acrobatics of DC 17. This counts as a attack for multi-attack minus. You may still attack normally in melee, or anyone with a ranged attack.

Poisoned=You must make a fort save at the end of your turn. If you fail, you will take 1d6 poison damage and be flat-footed and the poison will get worse next round.

Hershel, having gotten poisoned from a spider directly, will take 1d10 and be flat-footed if he fails his save.

Note: Those with the medicine skill and a healer's kit, or Dee's magic staff, can attempt a medicine roll as an action to stop the poison progression.

"Son a bitch" grumbles Nathan as get struck by one of mite's darts. He feels a chill as the poison contests his right to continue breathing. With his opponent already injured he elects to strike close to the first wound with the butt of his musket. After he strike he attempts to move only have webbing impede his movement.


Action 1: plot strategy
Action 2: Attack: 11+10=21  18 point of damage if hit
Action 3: attempt to break out of web (Ugh fail)
fail save. I guess I will need to use hero point if Nathan fails save again next round

In reply to System AI (msg # 34):

Malcolm glares at one of the Spider Mites who throws a dart at Conner, causing a field of energy to cover the mage. The dart bounces off harmlessly, and Conner is saved from damage and posion. Furthermore, the Spider Mite who threw the dart seems to suffer a backlash, a dart of energy comes from Malcolm and hits the creature, seeming to weaken it.

OOC-Malcolm use his champion reaction to give Conner resist all 2, stopping the dart that hit him. Furthermore, Spider Mite 1 now has the status Enfeebled 2.

Suddenly hit by a web, Dee's first thought is to escape. However, her anger at something daring to try to hold her flares up. "Release me you skittering beast!" she exclaims as she points her staff at the offending spider and launches another divine lance; and, then, attempts, and fails, to break out of the web holding her.

Day 3. 88 hours, 20 minutes until level collapse

Being in this strange new world and walking out of the room left John in a bit of a daze. Suddenly a dart whizzes by his face waking him from his stuport.

"I'm sorry for blanking there. Let's get these things."

John brings up his hand cannon with the bayonet attached.  It's a mean looking thing.  He aims at a spider on the wall.

"Let's see if I can't bank this shot and get a few more injured."

He aims at a spider on the wall and fires.  His shot is close, but the mist made his aim off.  The bullet then ricochets off the wall and in to another spider.  The spider's blood spurts out the otherside as the bullet exits the monster.  It hits another stone on the wall and launches into a spider mite and injures it.  Blood starts dripping from the wound as the bullet exits the small body only to fall to the ground.  The ricochet energy expended.

He nods to himself in satisfaction.

OOC: Thanks Malcom!

Between Connor's aura and Malcom's quick intervention, Connor was able to avoid being hit by a poisonous dart! He looked at Malcom gratefully before turning back to face the enemies. It seemed his protective aura was actually helping the party quite a bit, and he decided to continue maintaining that effect for a long as he could. So with a moment's concentration he willed the flow of mana sustaining the field to remain in force. This caused the gentle shimmering bubble of protection to grow a bit more!

He decided to try something else. It seemed his party was definitely benefitting from his supportive magic, and he had further tricks to call upon. But not yet. He needed to set the field up more, so that if his allies ventured outward foot by boot to take the enemy down they could enjoy his protective buff for as long as possible. And he had to make himself a much less appealing target to the enemies so Malcom and others could push outward and not worry about him as much.

And so with that, Connor uttered an arcane syllable of power. To those with the relevant languages, or any level of arcana training, they'd recognize the syllable as a sort of strange mix between elvish, draconic, and common that essentially meant "Shield!" without actually being a true word. But this worked, as suddenly a small field of force appeared in the air in front of Connor.

He then sent a thought-message to Cabochon.

Try and ready some of those concoctions I just made. Take 1 of each type. You may need to hand them out to people soon. he thought-spoke via HUD to his familiar. The swirling gemstones suddenly began to slow their orbit as two small alchemical substances suddenly appeared within the orbit's energy rings. They floated in the orbit around Connor as if they were parts of the little gems that made up Cabochon! In particular...it was one of his healing elixirs and 1 of his mutagens.

Action 1: Sustain Protective Ward. It gains +5 feet of Radius so is now 20' radius. Everyone continues to get a +1 untyped bonus to AC.

Action 2: Cast Shield On self. Gains +1. AC this round. Connor's AC = 17 + 1 ward + 1 shield = 19 this round. If an attack somehow hits him he will shield block as a reaction.

Action 3: Command Familiar

Tsuki will move ahead of the party just enough to ensure she can get as many mites as possible in her cone, without harming the party and still staying within Malcolm's spell.

Then, suddenly, she grows not one, but several extra tails until she has nine instead of her usual three! Then with a crack of her nine tails she unleashes a cone of fire in front of her catching everything to her front in it! "You are all in our way. It is time for you to to be removed from our path by divine fire."

Action 2 and 3: Use 9 tail foxfire cone effect from amulet.

Ripping at the creature in his teeth, Hershel tears it's head off and tosses the body aside. Entirely unphased by the poison, he looks over at the aggressors with belligerent hunger in his eyes. Swallowing the crushed mass of spider in his mouth, Hershell roars as the gore and discolored blood of the spider ran down his exposed chest. He points at the spiders and calls out to Louise. "FETCH ME THEIR EYES!" He bellows as he launches himself further into the fray to continue his rampage against the spiders, slashing at their eyes and maws with his raking claws!

Resist poison roll: 28 Natural 20

Action 1: Begin Hunt: Spiders

Action 2: Claw a spider (rolled 26, 8 Damage)

Action 3: Claw another spider (rolled 15, 8 damage)

Malcom, still gliding above, throws another steel wing cloak father at one of the wall spiders. He impales the creature, wounding it. Then he maintains his gliding while insuring his metal coated wings shield him from further darts.

OOC:

1-Throws steel feather at Wall Spider.

2-Moves to maintain glide, drops 5' to now

3-Raises a shield via cloak.

Day 3. 88 hours, 20 minutes until level collapse

Nathan bashes the thorax of the spider assailing him, causing it a massive dent into the creature which spews some sort of Orange liquid. It trembles and falls. However the poison does effect him, and it burns in his veins and causing him to slow a bit. Everyone hears his AI statement on his HUD: "New Boon! Don't drink that! You are poisoned and will keep taking damage until it runs its course or you are dead! Reward...well, maybe if you live."

OOC: 10:57, Today: System AI rolled 5 using 1d6 with rolls of 5.  Poison damage on Nathan. Nathan must save again next round or go to stage 2.

Dee points her staff at the spider trying to bite her, actually shoving the end of the weapon into that fanged maw. The entire creature lights up, almost melted from the energy emitted from the weapon. However, Dee is still trapped by the webbing.

(OOC-Dee must keep trying to escape from the web trap next round, DC 17)

John M manages to break free from his combat flashback, and fires his gun. The bounced bullet misses its first target, but wounds one wall clinging spider and kills a spider mite, surprising the creature by ending it journey in the thing's skull.

Conner focuses on the field shielding the entire team, and makes an energy bubble around himself as well. Even as his stone familiar responds to his command, and produces both Mutagen and Elixir, both hovering around its orbiting center.

Tsuki moves on the nearest group of targets, and must close ranks with one in order to effect the maximum number of targets. Those being 3 spider mites readying another round of darts. She unleashes his 9 tail attack, burning the group of them! One Mite is fast enough to dive away from the worst of it, but the other two are not. In fact, she notices due to the slik-like armor they wear, they catch fire! One of them quickly is forced to pat the flames out, but the other failing to extinguish the fire runs around wildly until it burns to death! She hears the AI chime in. "New Boon! Burn em all and let the gods sort them out! You gain a bronze burners loot box!"

Hershel, thanks to Louise providing flanking on the spider foolish enough to attack him, grabs either side of the arachnid and tears it in half! In addition, everyone can hear the AI's statement on the gator man's HUD. "New Boon! I drink worse than that for morning coffee! You are immune to spider venom for the rest of this floor!"

Malcom keeps flying, now only 10' feet off the ground and impales the last wall clinging spider with one of his thrown steel feathers, causing it to fall and go splat!

The Spider on Connor pushes past all his mystic defenses, and bites twice into the mage's chest. Malcom once again uses his power to shield allies from afar, and prevents the worst of it, and Connor saves his own skin by using his mystic field, but it shatters against the spider's bite! The damage is still gets through. However, Conner is not poisoned! The AI chimes into his HUD at once. "New Boon! Smacked upside the head! You have been critically hit, and managed to live! You get a Sliver loot box!

New Boon! It squirted out the hole it punched into you! You have been bitten twice by a venomous creature and not gotten poisoned! You get a bronze antidote loot box!"


Most of the Mites feel at this point, save all but four of them. Three throw darts, draw more and throw again. However, Malcom's steel wings, Hershel's scaly hide, John M's lucky duck, and topping it all off with Connor's wards avoids them all. Tsuki is engaged with one of the Mites, and he draws a blade and proceeds to stab her twice!

Day 3. 88 hours, 20 minutes until level collapse

Connor yet again looked gratefully at Malcom, who was quickly becoming his knight in shining armor. He was also realizing how much protective synergy they both had after how their effects and magics combined to deflect an entire wave of venomous darts, and turn what should probably have killed or maimed Connor into "merely" a noticeable injury. Hell...even that damned AI noticed this and gave him a freaking boon for it! but the shields and cloak and abjuration aura all were helping the party weather this onslaught of foes while the attackers were taking them down.

He grimaced when he realized his shield spell would be unavailable to him for a while, but it did its job and kept him alive.

"Guys...get this spider away from me!" he exclaimed as he focused his mana, unwilling to falter in his composure and lose the protective magic that was helping ward the party. As a result, the gently shimmering field expanded again, emanating yet another 5 feet from Connor's epicenter.

"No...better yet, stab the son of a bitch! Or feed it to Hershel. Or both!" he said.

He then looked the spider in the eye with fierce determination, which he then channeled into his magic for a moment before clapping his hands together once and unleashing an invisible but quite salient burst of power that caused their hairs on their arms to stand on end accompanied by a pleasant tingle! At that moment, the party could sense a certain enhancement in their potential. The ability to strike truer than normal, and to tap into Connor's magic and determination in the face of danger...if only they'd reach a bit for it!


In everyone's HUD, all of a sudden a message appeared:

Temporary Buff Gained: Mystical Inspiration (Offense Mode). Duration: 1 Round. You may mentally take a moment to focus yourself. If you do, gain a temporary boost to the accuracy of your attacks.

Action 1: Sustain Protective Ward. It gains +5 feet of Radius so is now 25' radius. Everyone continues to get a +1 untyped bonus to AC. Connor's AC = 19

Action 2 & 3: Cast Cantrip Infectious Enthusiasm. Connor gains a +1 status bonus to Attack Rolls. Everyone in 30' radius (which currently is the entire party) can spend 1 action to also gain +1 to attack rolls. Duration 1 Round.

Taking just a moment to raise his bloodied claw above his head and letting the spider's blood drip off of it and into his mouth, Hershel felt the excitement continue to build within. He was numb to the pain of his party, perhaps a side effect of the poison he was enjoying so thoroughly. Rushing over to Connor's side, his snapping jaws race for the last morsel of the eight-legged delicacy.

Action 1: Gaining the Infectious Enthusiasm buff.
Action 2: Stride over to Connor.
Action 3: Bite the spider (Rolled 16+1 from Enthusiam= 17. 14 Bite damage.)

John hears Connor yell at the spiders.  He moves his attention from the spiders on the wall to the one near his companion.  Malcom has done a good job protecting him so far but that spider is too close for John's liking.

"Connor I'll see if I can shoot that one that's attacking you!!" he yells.

John's body moves instinctually, and repositions aiming his bayonetted gun at the spider and fires.

Nathan steeled his determination not wanting fail his companion by rudely dying on them. Reloading his rifle his took aim on the spider mite on Tsuki and fired. Nathan let our a groan of disappointment, Still not quite accustomed to the recoil he may have missed his target. "Sorry about that."

"Crap! Crap! Crap!" Dee yells as she realizes it's on her to help people survive this. Quickly weighing her options she decides to do what she can about using her staff to delay the poison coursing through Nathan and lend a quick help to the wounds on Connor.

Doing her best but being hampered by the webbing, "Damn these webs!" she yells as she tries unsuccessfully to break free.

Connor maintains his wards, and then enhances the group's combat skills with his magic.

OOC-Connor maxes out his hero points at 3.

Hershel bites the last remaining spider nearly in half. It weakly tries to bite Connor again, despite the gaping wound, and then John M shoots it squarely in the head, putting it out of its misery.

Nathan takes a shot at one of the mites threatening Tsuki, but its spider-silk armor actually saves its life. This turns out to be not as useful as the creatures thinks, because Tsuki sets the thing on fire. It screams collapses as it fails to douse the flames. Tsuki and Kayla lack a target in front of them, and instead focus on the next closest Mite. Tsuki burns it, and Kayla leaps upon the small being and rips its throat out with her teeth.

OOC-1st target was dead due to damage from pervious hit after you struck it with first attack. Second attack is going to have to be changed to a ranged attack, which you can easily do. Kayla's 1st action must to be close with the target, and her second would be an attack, which does enough damage to finish it off.

Dee uses the reach of her staff to touch both Nathan and Connor. She then tears loose from the webbing at her feet and is now free!

OOC-Due to your staff's reach, you can touch close by people like Nathan and Connor. Nathan made his save vs poison, so instead you will use you battle medicine feat on both of them to treat wounds. With assurance, you do not have to roll medicine to succeed, the total being 17. However, you do not get the bonus healing that would come by making a DC of 20, 25, or 30.

Dee gets a hero point.

13:35, Today: Dr Feck, on behalf of Dee, rolled 11 using 2d8 with rolls of 8,3.  Healing Nathan.

OOC-using medicine w/o the battle medicine feat effects out of combat requires 10 minutes wound treating per use. This means standing here for about 40 mins. It should be fine, but if you need quick healing use cure spells or potions. You are smart to save those spells and potions for when you really need them.

Nathan puts togeather very quickly that while the mites came from very different corridors, they all fled one direction-the north passageway. However, due to the mist he cannot make out other details about said passageways.

"And Nathan is right, we are all learning here. Let us continue to do it together for the benefit of our true home." She said with a firm nod, before she checks the little mites for anything of use.

After she checks the mites for useful items she will stand up and move over to look at something. "Hmm, the mist is covering symbols. The way we came from..." She points. "...is sun." Then she points at each of the others ways as she says what they are. "And to the West is Mountain, to the East is Waves, and North looks like a Spider's Web."

As the others sat around and discussed the plan, Hershel made himself busy with the spider corpses, ripping through them to find the venom glands. With the reccently deceased, he attempts to tear them out and squeeze the contents of them into his mouth. The strange burning flavor of the venom was reminiscent of a tangy water with a strong presence of chili peppers. Unique in it's taste and consistency, Hershel intended to use his boon of immunity to it's full effect as he learned more about the things he killed, just as he did back home. Some traditions never die.

Plucking a few of the eyes out, Hershel calls for Louise and offers those to her. As a treat. "My Darling, fearless Louise. Did they scratch you? Did they try to keep the meat from us? Can't be done, can it?" Hershel says in a low-endearing tone.

Waiting and watching as Dee comes around, Hershel only offers a grunt as she patches him up, but becomes much more agitated when she treats Louise, like an overprotective parent unsure about the dubious effects of medicine. But with a sigh of relief, Hershel offers the first bit of praise to another being in a very long time. "Appreciated ...Doctor."

The mites clothing and armor seems to be woven of spider silk. When you search them, a window opens on your HUD. It shows only 'spider silk' that can be transported into your inventory.

There is also a description of the creature itself.

"Spider Mite.

You know the kids in class that have a bug collection? They like to show it off, useally a bunch of dead ones under a glass case? Well, that's what these people are. They actually can talk to and train giant spiders like attack dogs. They even can move through webs, and have an entire planet whose buildings are made of the stuff! That is, until we took it over..."

Once the silk was in her inventory, she would stand and look towards the others. "I believe I know which way we are supposed to go." She pointed to the corridor with the spider web symbol. "Something tells me the boss and way out is there, and the boss is likely these little guys queen, or the spiders queen, or something akin to their ruler."

Then apparently to no one he says, “AI what can you tell us about the bosses on level 1?  Are there only one we have to defeat like in video games, or are there multiple bosses on this level?”

Nathan quickly explained his observations. "Okay with all these crawlspaces that means ambushes can happen anytime and anywhere. We need to stay alert. I think we stay here long enough to quickly patch ourselves up and look for useful items" He will look to Dee "How much time will you help out the wounded?". The best building materials can be found searching the bodies of the mites. When Nathan does so, he finds "spider silk", just like Tsuki did. It appears in his HUD, and it vanishes from sight only to appear in his extra dimensional inventory. He was fairly sure he could trade it to the rest of the group if he wanted.

The spiders dont have any inventory. They might have...but being torn apart and eaten by Hershel and Louise makes it less likely. Keyla on the other hand sniffs the remains and backs away from the mess. She does whimper a bit and look at Tsuki. Then she sniffs at her owners pockets, no doubt looking for a treat.

Connor releases his aura spell with a soft but audible sigh of relief. While he wasn't winded per say form the effort, it was visibly taking him a lot of sustained effort to maintain a protection spell like his aura.

As he did so, the sparkling abjurative aura faded away with a soft pop sound, like a soap bubble being popped.

He thanked everyone who helped heal him and protect him during the fight.

"Cabby? Go start orbiting people who are injured and give them some passive healing." he says.

The swirling mass of stones gathered together before making its way to the most injured people. It moved around person to person based on who was most injured after various people used the medicine skill to do some healing.

Whoever is most injured has Cabochon orbiting them and the person being orbited heals 1 HP every 5 minutes.

DM! Based on how much time we spend here please factor this extra healing into your calculations if anyone is left injured as every 5 minutes Cabochon heals someone 1 hp and he will move person to person as needed.


Connor takes a look around.

"Thank god that's over. And I agree some of these materials might be useful. I might even be able to make something with some of this stuff later on or something." Connor says as he also takes a stab at searching the bodies and spiders for any materials and anything else of interest.

Connor searches the bodies of the deceased foes.

Path does not matter, but nothing swims better than me." Calling for Louise with a guttural noise, Hershel walks closer to the group and looks between them impatiently. "We are ready for more. Growing hungry again. The food here doesn't satisfy nothin'."

Malcom looked at the amulet he wore, and looked to the various directions that where offered. Expect the south of course. "We need to go somewhere...and we can't stay here. Plus, we are gonna need to ether find a place to rest soon-which sounds like a bad idea if Nathan is right-or we kill the Apex and get to a safe room."

Used to being snubbed in the bounty hunting business, John shrugs as he didn't expect much of an answer.

In response to everyone else: "Yes let's get going.  My gun is reloaded and ready to go." As they walk down the corridor his head is on a swivel keeping an eye out for anything.

He holds the hand cannon ready for anything.  The bayonet pointed forward menacingly.

The party starts to move down the north corridor. At once, the symbol that Tsuki saw proves to be correct. There are webs. Lots and lots of them. In fact the webs get so thick it slows the party's movement considerable. On the plus side, Nathan does not discover any traps.

On the minus side, it takes 3 hours to make much forward movement due to the webbing. Louise and Cabochon seem to be the only ones able to avoid the sticky, clinging stuff. No doubt at one point someone suggests using fire to light up the blockage. Both Tsuki, Conner, and Nathan nearly speak at once at why this might be a very dangerous idea. Not one that should be ignored entirely, but one that could have bad consequences for people other than the web casters.

Despite all that, and hours of hacking away at obstruction, the group finally comes to a massive door. However, it looks like the door to a video arcade. The large doors even have ads to various games offered within, although traces of webbing can still be seen. In addition, each wanderers HUD translates the ads into whatever native language you spoke as humans.

Looking around he then moves to the right side of the doors as quietly as he can, reloads his gun and readies himself to use either the gun or the nasty looking bayonet on the front of it.

He presses his ear to the door to listen.

"Should flood here. Spiders don't swim so good. Not like us Louise." Hershel grumbles, mostly speaking to himself. A habit he had made very apparent about himself in just the short time the party had been traveling with him. He is, however, rendered speechless aside from confused sputtering as he tries to make sense of the visual gabber in front of himself. Having been partially illiterate, Hershel finds the glowing attractions annoying to the eye and the inky blobs below them less than enticing.

"Cables and wires. Place like this back in the old town. Just have to break their cables and wires." Hershel explains to anyone listening, not caring if that meant nobody. He watched the others with a huff. "Yes. Do." He says in a motion to Connor. "IF alarm sounds, I can break it. Done it afore."

John's eyes widen as he listens at the door.  As Hershel reaches for the door John quickly steps in front of him with his hand to his mouth in a shushing motion.

He whispers, "Hold on friend.  I hear a lot of things going on inside." He waves everyone back away from the door so they can talk without worry of bringing notice to themselves.

"I hear a lot of skittering inside.  I think there are more spiders in there.  I heard maybe 10-12 pass by the door.  I also heard some squishing sounds.  I can't tell you how I know this, but it sounds like wet sacks with something living in them."

He shudders at the thought and continues.

"Finally, and this doesn't make much sense, but there is someone swearing at other people.  Not sure how many.  But it sounds like they are insulting the parents and family of those other people. But in a childish way.  Like someone trying to be cruel, but not really knowing how.  But that voice was loud enough for me to hear that it wasn't human."

He adjusts his gun belt, and checks the chamber of his gun.

"Whatever we do we need to coordinate.  If we had someway to see inside to know exactly what was going on that would be better.  Can anyone do such a thing?"

"Although seriously...I think we need to proceed forward anyway so hemming and hawing out here isn't going to do much for us." he said as he flicked his wrist.

Suddenly, an invisible force was clearing away cobwebs so the group could cleanly access the doorway when they moved onward.

"Get ready peeps. It doesn't seem trapped so I'm gonna open her up!"

And with that, the invisibile force began to open the door...although only slightly, so the front liners could peer in through a crack in the door.

"Try and sneak a peek guys up front. I didn't open it all the way."

Nathan manages to get his scope in the narrow crack of the open door Connor provided.

Sure enough, the scope's magical properties allow him to zoom in and see great detail. But after seeing what he sees, he then wishes he did not have that ability.

The room is covered in webs. Thick enough to support the weight of any giant spider, and there are a lot of them moving about. Even worse, there are what look like egg sacks all over the room, pulsing, throbbing and ready to hatch at any moment.

The oddest and most dangerous thing of all is the 10 foot tall green humanoid in the center of the room. It has huge fangs and claws, and it sits on a web throne like hammock. It has four spider limbs coming out of its back, and it is wearing what looks like a VR helmet that totally covers its eyes and ears. Once the door opens even slightly for Nathan to peek through, it could be heard by everyone.

"YOUR MAMMY IS HELL'S SPOOGE CLEANER, YOU USELESS DORK!" It yells out, while its clawed hands seem to be going through the motions of pretend shooting at people.

Sure enough, as before, the AI description pops up as soon as Nathan gets a good look at it.

"WEB TROLL!

This Apex is a mix of the beings of Aspartica-9 natural lifeform, often called a Troll. It is currently being species blended with a human internet version of the same type. We are not sure who the human was in his past life, as there seem to be a lot of these versions of human 'trolls' running around. Good thing there is only one of them...this time."

Nathan seems to reflexively pull up a second HUD window that is automatically shared with the rest of the party.

John’s HUD describes the troll.

This isn’t good.  ”Is this one of the bosses we have to fight?” he asks?  He look over all his equipment and abilities in his HUD and knows he isn’t good for up close fighting of something THAT big.

“I can’t go toe-to-toe with that beast.  We need to figure out someway to do a lot of damage to it with fire or acid.  Is there anything else in there that is flammable or can explode with flames?”

Connor considered the information that he had received about this sinister troll.

"Hated them in real life, and hate them in fiction too. Trolls. Ugh I'd rather date my ex than deal with a troll." Connor said.

OOC: Note This is the level 1 lesser version of course. but +1 to dex based attack rolls (along with other benefits) for 1 minute is really powerful for us right now. I'm thinking our gun slinger and Tsuki since I think they use dexterity attacks but I'm open to suggestions.

"I have 4 healing elixirs but I'll have Cabochon hold onto them for now in his orbit as he can dispense them to people. Somehow. Yes, fantasy physics at its finest." he said, looking at his familiar proudly before turning back to the others.

"But I think I should give out the two mutagens to people now if we're going to fight that boss. I made them for when things got tough and that thing is about as tough as I can imagine right now. I'm thinking Tsuji and our gunslinger but I'm open to ideas who who to give a mutagen to but I only have two today." he said.

"As for fire...besides Tsuki focus firing him of course, I'm all for us taking some of our torches form our adventurer's packs and lighting them and tossing them inside the room and closing the door as fast as possible and causing a web-fueled fire explosion in there. Would help clear the room out and damager the troll and maybe fry some spiders too."

"Fire sprinklers could be possible " Nathan will shrug "But since were dealing with magic and/or science indistinguishable from magic anything is possible. We can plan for what we can but be ready to deal with the unexpected whenever it gets sprung on us."

I was thinking of taking a shot at the troll when we next opened the door but if we are going set a fire in the webs and wait his regeneration could heal him by the time we confront it again. Just the same we should stay alert and be ready to act in case the troll charges through the door like a bat out of hell."

John's head nods in agreement as his companions describe what he was hoping to happen.

"I'll be ready to shoot the troll once the doors reopen."

He looks at the properties of the mutagen and a frown peaks through.  He's not sure if the benefits are worth the drawback.  Damage twice my level... he thinks.

"Connor I'll hold on to that mutagen just in case.  Not sure if I like that drawback, but if I use it I'll stay a ways from any of the carnage."

John checks his gun is loaded and stands ready.

With the rest of the Party's assent, Hershel gives the doors a massive shove open. Even as the rest of the group plans to dive on ether side of the doors, a few unexpected things happen.

1)-As they open, the doors get stuck. Clearly they are being caught on webs surrounding the doors, and as a result they cannot fully open. An space about 2 and half feet is the best the doors can do at this moment.

2)-The webs causing this obstruction are not empty. They are filled with spiders, all of which where ether on the wall or ceiling around the door, rather in front of it. When Nathan used his scope, he could not maneuver it enough to see any of these creatures so nearby. Worst of wall, these dog-sized creatures have the spider's ability to detect and pounce movements trigger in their webs.

3)-Meaning before anyone else can even act, they are pouring through the small portal in the door, attacking everyone they can!

Webs shoot through the small opening, and then spiders almost boil through the opening, leaping on every party member...expect for Louise and Keyla.

Inside the room, which is very difficult to see due to the small opening in the door and the spiders leaping about and attacking, a few party members can see more spiders on the way. Not to mention the egg sacks Nathan mention seem to burst open, and thousands of larger than normal tiny spiders come out, all swarming towards the party.

The Web Troll does not seem to get up or even aknowledge what has just happened. Instead, it just says to...someone..."YOU SUCK, ZORDLORD87! I FRAGGED YOU SO EASY IT MADE YOUR SISTER CRY!"

OOC-7 spiders ambush the party! Moving into melee and then spraying webs on everyone and biting!

The spiders move as a reaction, and shoot their webs at the party. Only Malcom, Conner, and John M cannot move, but can still fight. Then they close with every member of the party and bite. Malcom and Tsuki are bitten, no one else is.

Malcom uses his reaction to reduce Tsuki's damage and enfeeble the spider who attacked her.

Malcom takes 5 damage, but makes his poison save.

Tsuki Takes 5 after Malcom's defense power, but also makes her poison save.

Effects:

-Small opening. While the spiders can make it through the opening easily, attempting to shoot into the room will be much more difficult.

-Engaged. You are in melee with a creature. In addition to risking an attack of opportunity if you interact, or move away from the creature. Ranged attacks while in Melee may give cover to your target. John M, being webbed, is going to have even a worse time.

-Webbed. You cannot move, but can still fight. You must make an escape action at DC 17, ether using Acrobatics or Athletics. It counts as an attack action, meaning if done 1st, any attack after the escape will be at -5 or -4 for agile weapon. If done as a second attack action, the escape roll will be at -5. If you try it as a third attack action the roll will be at -10.

Due to the fact no one is engaged with Kelya or Louise, they provide flanking on whatever target they attack, including their own attacks.

As the combat rapidly unfolded Nathan will comment "A battle plan seldom survives first contact with the enemy." If he is able to he will shoot the spider before gets with in melee range otherwise He will slam the spider with is musket stock.

John's eyes widen as the doors get stuck and spiders poor out.  He takes a few steps back.  His eyes lock with a spider and he sees it shoot its web at him.  He tries to evade, but is stuck fast.

The spider tries to bite but he's able to wiggle out of the way.

I have to get out of here.  he thinks and tries to back get out of the webs.

As he struggles he realizes he won't be able to get out so he attacks with the Bayonet of Linkage.  But as he swipes at the spider he misses.  Not to be outdone by a spider he tries again and misses.

He looks around at his companions and realizes everyone is also occupied with spiders.  His shoulders slump a bit as he realizes this might be his last fight.  He looks towards his HUD and the HP section.

"I hope 26 HP is enough to survive this...."

Tsuki growled low, took ahold of the amulet she was given and used it to place Magic Fang on Keyla to boost her bite. Then commands her to assault the Spider on her! "Keyla, kill!"

OOC: Ok so Nathan has 1 of the mutagens. Cabochon has the other as no one claimed they wanted it yet.

Connor knew that the party would once again need his protective powers, especially in the face of the literal and figurative troll that they had to deal with after the wave of spiders. Anything he could do to increase their chances of mitigating damage now, so they'd have more gas in their tanks for the boss proper, was good!

Making a strange, quick three motion movement with his hands, Connor gathered power to himself from within and from without. The air around him in a 5 foot radius began to sparkle brightly for a moment before receding into but a faint, gentle shimmer. Just like in their previous fight, this gently shimmering field was pleasant for all party members within it and it held protective properties.

The faint, gentle field of protection starts small but with a clap of Connor's hands, the field suddenly spreads and suddenly is roughly 15 feet in radius, which probably covers most if not all of the party.

OOC: So Connor generally keeps to the middle position of the party anyway so despite being webbed his aura should be affecting people.

He spends 1 action to cast his focus spell, Protective Ward!  He and any allies in the area gain a +1 status bonus to AC. So everyone be aware you have a boost to AC! It starts as a 5 foot emanation from Connor.

He uses his second action to do sustain. While he doesn't need to this round, he wants to and nothing stops him from doing a sustain on his spell this round. This increases the radius to 10 feet.

...which then leads to his third action, widen spell! Since it is a 10 foot emanation he can add another 5 feet to it. So the aura now starts as a 15 foot radius aura. Which probably affects most if not all of the party!

END RESULT: 15' Emanation protection field. All allies gain +1 Untyped AC who are in the radius. Connor's AC = 18+1 = 19 this round.

"More! Plenty more! Break them open! The shine's inside!" Hershel says to himself as he loomed over the encroaching spiders with hungry eyes. Seems he'd developed a taste for the venom. Throwing his maw wide, he attempts to snap one up into his jaws, and slash at anything close enough to try and free it.

Dee smashes her spider with her glowing staff a couple of times, but one only connects. The she raises the weapon before her, casting her glowing protective field around herself.

Kelya and Dee managed to harm their spiders. Hershel's grappling bite does not harm his foe, but it does keep it from biting back as it struggles to get into position while being held in the gator man's jaw.

Nathan bashes his spider to a fine goo, while Malcom cuts his enemy in half.

Conner's wards cover the entire party, and aid most people from being bitten. The wards keep the spiders at bay, combined with the agility and/or armor of most of the party. However, both Dee and Keyla take some damage, but neither seem to be poisoned. Malcom's reaction ability reduces the injury on Dee. Dee further uses her mystic field to reduce the damage further.

Once again, from inside the chamber the Web Troll can be heard. "YOU ALL SUCK! I HAVE ALL THE UBERLEET SKILLZ!" However, the party can see most of the egg sacks have indeed burst open. A living wave of tiny spiders are heading in their direction, along with another 10 or so giant ones to boot.

"Before we can slap mama's little basement boy around we need to take out the next wave of his friends." said Nathan as grimaces at the mess on the bottom of his musket.

He realized he needed to free up more of his team to deal with the reinforcements. after using his scope on the spider on Conner he will move up a mash the spider with the butt of his musket.

John watches in frustration as his companions take down two spiders.  I did so well in the other fight, what's going on... he thinks.

He decides escaping isn't going to help.  He yells at the spider and stabs at it repeatedly.

Connor was glad he gave it his all to get that abjuration field up right away. It was really making a difference! But now, he had to turn from pure defense to having a bit of bite of his own and show the others and especially the spiders he wasn't just there to look pretty. Even if that was what he claimed in casual conversations with the others.

With a clap of his hands and an exhale of breath, Connor wordlessly breathed more of his magic into sustaining the field of protection, which in turn expanded by another 5 feet as the softly shimmering field spread outward a bit more.

He turned to Cabochon.

"Cabby? Let's light them up!" Connor said as he suddenly began chanting strange arcane syllables while making two swift mudras with his hands. His right hand began to suddenly crackle as electricity arced around it in defiance of physics. Cabochon's stones glowed abnormally for a moment as the electricity in Connor's hands intensified dramatically before arcing outward at the nearest most injured spider, before jumping to yet another spider with a crackle and a sizzling sound!


Action 1: Sustain Protective Ward. It gains +5 feet of Radius so is now 20' radius. Everyone continues to get a +1 untyped bonus to AC. Connor's AC = 19

Action 2 & 3: Cast Cantrip Electric Arc. It is targeting the most injured spider within 30 feet and will arc to the second most injured spider afterward.

Damage is 1d4+4 base + 1d4 For His Iconic Item = 2d4+4. The Spiders make Basic reflex saves.

Spell DC: 10 + [int 4 + 2+2=4 Trained + 1 Iconic Item] = 19

22:50, Today: Connor rolled 11 using 2d4+4 with rolls of 4,3.  Electric Arc Damage.

Hershel crunches the spider in his jaws, and rakes over it's body, attempting to consume as much of it in a bite as he could. Ripping into it like a cheap steak, Heshel pokes an unoccupied finger towards the approaching horde. "Kill." He said in a savage voice, alien to his usual backwards accent.

Dee once again uses her staff, this time shoving the end of the weapon into the Spider's maw. Her staff glows, and the eight legged thing takes a bright energy blast directly into its head.

Then she withdraws the weapon and prepares a defense, her glowing orb shield once again appearing.

Kelya wounds her spider enough for the electric Arc to finish it off.

Connor blasts out with the help of his Familiar and sends deadly lighting into his foes.

Nathan Bashes the Spider on Connor to death after the Mage's electric arc weakens it.

Hershel pulps the spider in his jaws, and it is finished off by Louise.

John M stabs his spider with his bayonet, although it dodges his next two blows. Louise attacks it from behind afterwards, taking the fight out of it with her pecks.

Dee blows the head off her spider once again via her magic.

Malcom fails to hit anything, and is still stuck.

The remaining spider seems to take account of its surroundings, and crawls back into the chamber it sprang from.

Even as it does so, the wind and rain coming off of Tsuki seems to be slowing the progress of the reinforcement giaint spiders, and the living carpet of tiny spiders heading the groups way. However, this crawling wave will arrive at the party very soon indeed...

"YOU ARE CHEATERS! YOU SUCK SO BAD YOU GOTTA CHEAT!" Says the troll, and its still not clear if he is talking to you, or a bunch of people online.

Her tail once more multiplies into nine, then she lets out a growl as suddenly all nine let out a torrent of fire in an arc and cone in front of her!

John's eyes widen as he sees the wave of spiders coming their way.  "I gotta get outta here!"

He struggles at the webbing trying to escape.

If he escapes he wants to fire at the last giant spider keeping free of Tsuki's fire.

Hershel turns his addled eyes towards the motion of the fleeing spider, despite all common sense, he chases in after it with a wordless rush and a snarling fervor. Clawing at the air infront of him as though it would pull him through time and space faster, Hershel rushes into the building grasping for anything that gets close enough to him so that he could close his jaws down on whatever poor creature he crashes into!

Seeing the brief moment of peace as the enemy was still coming, Conor decided he needed to get out of those webs and fall back so he was behind the front line entirely, where he could more safely focus on maintaining his protective aura.

Taking advantage of the moment he had been given, Connor deftly untied and untangled himself of the webs, while the oebiting Cabochon spun its gems furiously to help clear things as well. But the wizard was surprisingly well-coordinated as he slipped free of the web without trouble!

With a moment of focus he pured more mana into his aura, and the sparkling defensive field expanded yet another 5 feet in radius!

After this moment and after brushing the webs off, Connor fell back behind the party line, so that his aura only just barely covered the front line. This way, the new spiders couldn't engage him so easily once they arrived.


Action 1: Connor gets a 24 vs DC 17 to free himself of the webs, so he is unwebbed now.

23:13, Today: Connor rolled 24 using 1d20+7 with rolls of 17.  Acrobatics.

Action 2: Sustain Protective Ward. It gains +5 feet of Radius so is now 25' radius. Party members within it continues to get a +1 untyped bonus to AC. Connor's AC = 19

Action 3: Move Action. Connor moves AWAY from the spider-door, so that  instead of being in the middle of the party he is now in the back. DM...Connor moves as far back as he can so that the front line is just BARELY inside of his aura. So most likely he moves about 20 feet back or so as his aura is now 25' radius so should still encompass the front line folks.

Dee points her staff into the Troll's room, and shoots forth a wide spell that sounds like thunder. Filling the room with a shattering blast of noise. Everything in the place would not only suffer from Tsuki's fire, but the noise as well.

Connor strengths his ward while wisely moving away from the front door. However, his movements are slowed due to the soggy webbing around them.

Nathan takes a shot with his rifle, but fails to hit anything.

John M manages to hit with his shot at the fleeing spider, and then moves away from the blast zone.

Dee shoots forth a massive blast of sound into the room Tsuki is aiming into.

Hershel charges into the room, his movements slowed by the webs and heads right for the troll.

Malcom tears free of the webbing, charges into the room, and takes flight. Failing to strike anything with his metal feather's ranged attack.

Tsuki then blasts forth with all nine tails. Beforehand she shouts a warning to Hershel, and Malcom. However, neither of them seem to care as they push forward into the Apex's lair.

The fire burst forward, and does intense damage. The fire does remove most of the webbing in the room, however, some of it feeds back into the corridor due to all the webbing there. However, Tsuki's aura of wind and rain reduces the effect considerably. That does not help Heshel and Malcom however.

On the plus side, the spiders that are not burned away to nothing are destroyed by Dee's sonic blast. Allowing Hershel to push ahead largly unopposed to tackle the Web Troll. Despite burning and somewhat deaf, the massive creature tears off its VR helmet and roars in a animalistic fashion. Its ability to speak and insult seemingly forgotten. It proceeds to shrug off Hershel's efforts to grab it, and proceeds to slash into the gator man, rending his body as he pulls the massive claws free...

Note-when casting spells and being able to see the creature's save, please roll for them to speed along combat.

Troll and everyone in the room is on fire.

Everyone but John M and Connor must make a reflex save vs DC 18. This is due to all the webbing still near the and in the corridor. However, because of Tsuki's aura, everyone will get resist fire 5 against any burning damage.

Critical success(28 reflex save or higher)=No damage.
Success=(18 to 27 reflex save)=3 fire damage
Fail=(17-9 reflex save)=7 fire damage
Critical fail=(8 or less reflex save)7 fire damage and 1d6 Persistent burning on you next round.

Everyone but Louise, Hershel, and Malcom gets 5 fire resistance from whatever damage you may take.

Web Troll is 35 feet away, but now there is no difficult terrain and no spiders.

SMACK! "That spider's toast!" John struggles a bit then frees himself from the webbing backing up just before the fires start.

"Burn baby burn!"

He steps forward to get a better shot at the troll.  "Here goes nothing..."

He steadies himself and fires at the troll. Then reloads to hopefully get two more shots next.


Action 1 - Walk up 5' or 10' to get within 30' range of the web troll, but not close enough to walk into the fire.

Action 2 - Fire gun - miss :(

Nathan did his best to avoid getting burned from either Tsuki's fire blast for the burning debris. He will try to find cover or concealment in the room, failing that he will find a find to find and target  the best shot he can on the troll.

His back smoldering with the flames surrounding them, Hershel bit back at the troll as it broke his body within it's grasp. His bite too weak to even penetrate his skin. Through bloody, broken teeth, he yells some hoarse words of frenzy and agony back at his lone friend.

Connor cringes as the troll tore into Hershel after the man-lizard over-extended. There wasn't much he could do for the man at the moment, so chose to continue focusing on supporting the party with his protective magic. The aura had consistently given them a much-needed boost and he had to make sure not to let it flounder.

And thus, with a moment of concentration he poured more of his mana into the effect, causing the sparking aura to once again expand even further than before so that it covered a 30 foot radius! Thankfully, this should allow Connor to stay in the back line while still hopefully covering even Hershel and the other front liners with the aura.

He considered sending Cabochon in to give Hershel a potion, but the man was engaged too closely with the troll and the risk was too high the troll would interfere. Hershel needed to fall back.

"Hershel! Fall back toward me!" Connor shouted out to him.

He then wanted to summon some help, but couldn't without sacrificing the protection aura which he wasn't willing to do. So instead...he had to set up Cabochon So he could try and save Hershel.

...but he had to do so in a way the familiar wouldn't be in reach of the troll.

"Cabby! Do your thing but be smart about it!" Connor said as the familiar swirled away from Connor's orbit and flew through the air toward but at the same time above the battlefield, where it then readied itself to use a healing elixer on Hershel if the man listened to Connor's request to fall back!

Cabochon flew away from Connor and to a point in between Connor and Hershel, but not right immediately behind the man as he didn't want to be in the troll's direct reach. It then floated a healing elixer from its orbit and held it steady, almost invitingly, toward Hershel...beckoning the man over to it.


Command Action 1:

-Move to about 15 feet away from the troll, to avoid its 10' reach and thus its opportunity attacks. Hershel will have to like move 10 feet+, even if he has to take tumble or take several safe-move actions or whatever (I think P2 has 5-foot steps right?). But game-wise Cabochon will be able to affect Hershel that way while being out of the troll's reach.

Command Action 2:

-Ready Action: Use Healing Elixer on Hershel if Hershel moves into range next turn.

The troll is missed by many attacks, but Nathan scores a hit with his rifle right in the creature's neck! It starts to bleed, but the fire damage it is suffering keeps it from healing! However, as the creature reacts to the rifle shot, it is also stabbed from behind by Malcom! This causes it to wheel about its massive bulk, causing the slight flames to be extinguished! If the fire is not renewed, it will start to heal again very soon!

The creature bites with its massive jaws upon Malcom, but his wing shields knock its head aside! However, the massive arms manage to make it past the other wing, and claws deeply into Malcome's torso. Rending the flesh, just as it did on Hershel.


OOC-Troll misses with bite, hits with second attack. Malcom uses reaction to do a shield block, reducing the damage somewhat. Malcom takes a total of 18 hp damage!

Hershel's ears were ringing from the impact, and either damaged senses, or rage kept him from moving an inch away from the troll as he continued his assault on the large enemy. He attempts to trip the troll with a sweep of his tail and a shove of his clawed hand. Taking a moment to bite into a healing potion...?

Action 1: Trying to trip the Troll Rolled 20, 8 damage (Let me know if I did this correctly?)

Action 2: Claw the troll Rolled 17, 7 Damage

In reply to Hershel (msg # 141):

OOC-trips only do damage if you crit with the atheltics roll. All that trip feature on your tail does is allow you to make trip attacks in the first place. You will get your item bonus to your atheltics check. Despite that, you need a 21 in order to trip him. However, he is flanked so his AC is 2 lower than it normally is against your attacks. I would apply that to hit reflex DC as well in this case, allowing you to trip him. The trip in of itself does not damage, but does make him prone. As you have a flanked, prone foe, that should be enough of a bonus so your claw attack hits.

Seeing as Hershel is not listening to Connor's request to fall back, he decides to deal with healing the man more actively. But he had to make sure cabochon didn't become an attractive target either.

So once again, he once again pours his power into sustaining the protective aura, and it incrementally continues to expand in size.

He then mentally sends Cabochon some commands, via HUD of course.

Cabby? Ne more active and go heal Hershel. Don't get in that thing's reach though. Your safety comes first if it's between you and Hershel, as he over-extended. Still...let's try our best to help the front line.

Try and help Malcom too. Just stay out of that troll's reach.


The familiar suddenly began to fly higher into the air, diagonally a bit so he was about 20 or so feet above the battle and he was above Hershel. From the air, one of the healing elixer jars suddenly telekinetically popped as the lid of it came off and it spun in mid-air, a red liquid pouring right directly onto Hershel! And strangely enough, due to the fantasy-physics of it all, the liquid splashed onto the man covering him for a moment before disappearing and "soaking" into the man, seeping under his scales and into open wounds and gashes. And suddenly...those open wounds and gashes began to unnaturally and speedily mend and close somewhat!

Canochon then floated slightly over Malcom, and once again poured another healing elixer onto the gargoyle-like man. The liquid splashed onto the man for an awkward moment before suddenly soaking into the man's body, like her were some kind of living sponge. And his wounds began to knit together somewhat as well!

Action 1: Sustain Protective Ward. It gains +5 feet of Radius so is now 35' radius. Party members within it continues to get a +1 untyped bonus to AC. Connor's AC = 19

Action 2: Grant familiar 2 actions
     -Move 20 into the air above Hershel.
     -Pour Elixer of Life (minor) on Hershel. He heals 3 hit points and gains +1 vs poison and disease for 10 minutes.

Action 3: Grant familiar 2 actions
     -Float over Malcom, staying 20 feet high.
     -Pour Elixer of Life (minor)  on Malcom. He heals 6 hit points and gains +1 vs poison and disease for 10 minutes.

Dee plunges down her staff in front of her, focusing and closing her eyes. A green glow extends from the mystic artifact, surrounding the entire team and healing their wounds all at once!

OOC-Spending all 3 actions on a cure wounds spell, thus allowing her to heal in an area. Everybody(expect the troll), heals 16 hp!

Thanks to Hershel's well timed trip, Malcom rakes his sharp steel weapons across the giant's throat with both wings. He then brings the wings up in front of him, ready for a counterattack.

Hershel lashes out with his tail, knocking the giant off his feet! Then he clawed into the beast's thick hide, bringing green blood to the surface!

After many glancing shots earlier off the creatures thick hide, Both Nathan and John managed to score two gushing wounds with their weapons! Once to the face, and another to its neck with its softer hide.

Connor maintains the ward, and uses his familiar to heal both Hershel and Malcom.

Tsuki and Keyla try to put the beast down, but due to all the rapid motion around their target neither can get a clean blow.

Dee manages to heal the entire group with her powers, and Malcom nearly cuts the thing's head off!

The creature seems to slow and weaken...for a moment. Then it's clear the fire that was burning it served more than one purpose. It grinned as it rose, using its four extra spider legs, and loomed over Malcom, ignoring the others. That twisted grin's reasoning was clear...the wounds it had suffered where sealing up right before the party's eyes!

It lunged at Malcom, but with Connor's ward and his own defensive weapons, he knocks aside the huge maw, and Shield blocks with his wings when the claw scores a very minor hit. However, Malcom is still standing due to all that healing he got!

Seeing as they got the spiders under control and it was just them versus the troll, Connor decided to try and give them another dose of his magic to help with their accuracy, given how much they were missing with their attacks.

First, he poured more focus into his aura. They still had several rounds left on the thing and he was getting a lot of mileage out of it. As he did so, the sparkling field yet again increased in radius by five feet.

He then made mystical mudras with his hands and chanted a moment before, once again, a pleasant tingling sensation filled the party as an unnatural and mystical potential energy rippled through them. The party members each knew that if they took a moment to focus on that sensation, that they could grasp onto and actualize Connor's magic for a moment and sharpen their focus in the process!

Action 1: Sustain Protective Ward. It gains +5 feet of Radius so is now 40' radius. Party members within it continues to get a +1 untyped bonus to AC. Connor's AC = 19

Action 2 and 3: Connor casts Infectious Enthusiasm. Connor gains +1 to attack rolls until the start of his next turn.

The party members can Each choose to spend 1 action to grant themselves a floating ongoing +1 bonus to attack rolls until the start of their next turn as well.

Seeing the troll regenerate put fear into John.  "This has got to work."

He feels Connor's magic and concentrates.  He then sees the "+1 to attack granted" bonus in his HUD and nods.

"This time I will hit."

He aims.  He fires.

Action: 2 Attack with bonus.  20 vs AC.  Damage 8.

As she casted her spell during the incantation she would look at the Troll and utter the words. "You will lay prone at the feet of my companions."

While the troll resists Tsuki's magic, the claws of Keyla, the bite of Hershel, and the bullets of Nathan and John M prove to be too much. Even as the giant topples, Malcom gathers together the burning remains of webs and corpses of spiders, and tosses it on the regenerating creature.

Even as the creature begins to dissolve, its matter seeming to collapse in on itself, something rises from the body. A floating map, that spins and hover in the air. As soon as someone touches it, it fades from view and appears in the party's HUDs. A familiar voice is heard.

"You have beaten the level's Apex!

You have gotten the 'Front of the class' Boon!

You all now have access to the labyrinth map, including where the safe rooms are, the current threats that still exist, and the level exit!

Congrats, Wanderers! You have quite a journey to make, so get moving! We will still crush you once you run out of time..."


Sure enough, there seems to be a safe room past a secret door you can now see in your HUD. The map can be zoomed into, and notes can be scribed. Red dots showing moving figures, and are listed as 'foes'. Blue dots are listed as 'Wanderers' and grey dots are listed as 'NPCs'. Currently the only grey dots are in the safe room not too far away. The Blue dots seem very far indeed. More importantly, a large label on one room a medium distance from your position shows 'Level exit!'.

Connor was glad to see they finally took the troll down, and that none of them had died in the process. He learned a lot this fight about his tactics and spells, and had some ideas to try for later. He also learned a lot about tactics Cabochon was capable of - the familiar could do a whole lot even if it wasn't directly an attacker like Kayla was. And those elixirs turned out to be extremely useful too.

He looked around, and seeing as there were no more monsters apparently in the area, he released his maintenance of the protection spell. The now quite-sizable field of softly shimmering abjurative energy faded away in a soft bursting spell, like a bubble popping and releasing mist for a moment before it all disappeared.

Connor sighed softly in relief as he released his abjuration field. While it didn't take his vital energy in quite the same way as a normal spell did, it took a different type of energy and a whole heck of a lot of focus to maintain. So it was nice he could give his mind and spirit a break.

He turned to the others, and spoke.

"Good job, everyone! We all survived and are alive, which is a victory. It's gravy we were the ones to beat the apex. I'm sure that apex boon will give us a starting edge over other wanderer groups. Not to mention give us a bit more bite to use against this dungeon. But we shouldn't rest on our laurel yet though, you guys..." he said.

"I think the Guild Master or the host or both told us earlier that this level is going to collapse on its own, when it's good and ready. Which means we just took the inititive to carve ourselves a safe path to a saferoom we can use as a camp to figure out our next steps and rest up." he continued.

"With that said, I would like to propose a plan to the party. Because let's face it this fight has shown we are most effective as a party. But I would like to urge us all to prioritize resting up right now so we can recover our hit points and abilities in that near by safe room, and then from there I'd like us to use the map we found to figure out what the closest safe room is to the level exit, and make our way there." Connor said.

He then pointed to the floating holographic map as it was streaming into their HUDs.

"And after finding said safe room, I want to take it over and use it as our mini base and take the time to make sure we can clear a way to the exit, after which if we have a lot of time left I'd like to explore near the exit and look for any loot boxes, actual physical resources (like those webs we digitized into our inventories) that we can salvage and take with us to the next floor, and even some gremlins and spiders to to hunt and kill for experience points. Every proper nerd knows you farm loot and xp from side quests before progressing the main story, yes?" he finished with a grin.

Cabochon floating down near the troll after the party killed it.

"Master? That is a sound plan. If the party agrees, we will gain some control over the space on the level nearest to the exit which will take some pressure off of us. Brilliant!" the floating array of gems and other things spoke aloud. Somehow. However the hell the thing spoke.

"While you discuss with the party, I will assist in assessing the scene." he said as he floated near the troll and force-light-tendril-things sligered out fromt he magic orbit of the familiar and searched the troll and surroundings!

OOC: Cabochon searches the troll, as well as the surrounding chamber, for loot and noticable features (like anything that could be useful or digitized etc), and also helps any other party members who are searching if he is able to.

Nathan will grimly chuckle "I agree Connor, we need to keep working as a team if we are to have any chance to survive murderworld."

Nathan will look around the wreaked Arcade for useful items. For example he will see if the wreaked game machines had parts that could be salvaged for crafting components. He will also look if there are coins or tokens that have value outside the arcade. While searching he will also be on the lookout for traps

"I agree." She said with a firm nod as she considered for a moment. "Please give me one moment, before we do move on though. I need a moment to refocus myself and quell the storm that rages within and about me." She says that as the obvious rain is still pouring all around them. "So if you all could watch over me for a moment."

She will kneel and wrap her tail around herself. Quietly saying a small prayer to Inari as she refocused herself.

As her friend, master, and companion refocuses herself, Keyla will move next to her and lay down next to her. Still, the Dire Fox remains surprisingly alert as she lays there though and anyone who tries to harm her kitsune Master would have hell to pay.

The party refocuses, and restores themselves. However, spells and other such abilities are not returned until the group is willing to camp and sleep, or better yet-get to a safe room. The new map shows the route to the safe room in question, along with any foes along the way, and the exit stairwell down to the next level.

The nearest safe room is about five hours away according to the new map. The journey is relatively safe, aside from a few traps disarmed by Nathan and a few spiders dispatched by the rest of the party. The corridors start to blend together, still made of construction found on what earth used to be. However, the group comes upon an almost welcome sight.

GUILDHALL-Saferoom. The signs show. Assuming no one has any issue with entering the party proceeds to do so. Inside the room seems precisely the same as the last guild hall they found, and with a very familiar...face? If it could be called a face.

Welcome back, and congratulations. Everyone heard a familiar voice in their minds. Sure enough, the floating multi tentacled form of Trevik ushers them into the room.

Now that you have beaten the Apex, claimed the map, and made it to this guildhall, I can disclose more information to you. For one, you can open your boon boxes safely in here, and possible get more depending on your actions. Secondly, I can tell you about non-guildhall saferooms, as one has now become available to you.

A tentacle points at a door that seems to appear. It has a cartoon burger on it that everyone has seen at some point in their human lives on earth.

Finally, I can tell you about the next stage of the labyrinth. In this case, a non-deadly occurrence, but if you do not do it well, you lives might be indeed fairly short.

I am speaking of the Confessional. A ritual overserved by all surviving Wanderers of each level, allowing them to speak to the viewing audience. You will be appointed a PR representative, and have to speak to the system admin about what those rules are. I have no ability to interfere in those situations, and you must remember these beings will be of the group running the entire labyrinth system. While they are indeed dangerous, they also must obey the system rules governing these games. Not all of them view the games as...ethical...but most consider it a job that must be done. Tread carefully, and be wary about trusting them.

She would reach down and scritch Keyla behind the ears. "We're safe for now my friend, you did good."

Then she looked at the Guildmaster as she pulled out the 'bronze burners loot box' and looked it over. "So what you are saying is we are going to sit in front up a couple of big reps and be asked a bunch of things, and if people like what we say, they will help us, and if they don't, they won't?" She asked as she shifted back to her human form, then proceeded to open this loot box first.

"Guildmaster!" Connor exclaimed as they headed inside the guild hall, his tone of voice obviously pleased to see the tentacled yet most-amenable horror.

"Bless you and your tentacles! I'm happy we made it! It seems you somehow found out about us beating the apex, so that saves us having to tell you about it. It was a tough fight and there were a few very close calls. Team work made the dream work on that one for sure!" Connor exclaimed.

"Guildmaster? The party has agreed to follow a plan I've devised, which in this case is to use this Guildhall as a sort of pit-stop and resting area while we clear our way over to the exit stairs as well as any other safe spaces near by. Any information you can provide us about the non-guild safe rooms would be most appreciated, as I'd like to factor it into our plan." he continued.

"In this case, we'll make our way over to that other safe space first, and use it as a Head quarters and mini-base of sorts as we explore and clear out the exit and then go off and, quite frankly, farm experience points, look for side loot, and anything else that can give us an edge on the next floor. We got all this free time so we want to use it as best we can."

Nathan will take a deep breath before continuing "Good job out there. If we can maintain the teamwork we made just survive this."

He will listen somberly to To the Guild master's announcement. He holds back on a biting comment on what he thinks about the company that tormented them for the amusement of a vast audience because the bastards were probably listening. "Okay I guess we have to be sympathetic yet not antagonizing the sponsors. But most importantly we must be entertaining"

Actually, you will meet with the labyrinth administrator for your group, and then your PR agent. Once they are done with that, and the rules, then they will send you all into the confessional. The best way to describe it is to compare the confessional to one of your 'late night talk shows'. There is a host, and audience from all across the universe, and other guests sometimes. You will be questioned, although these days some of the confessional sessions are...more difficult then in my day. The hosts are often desperate for audience share, so they may try to make the wanderers do extreme things. However, there will be no physical danger to any of you.

As I have said before, this is where you will get sponsors. The D/Monix corporation charges audience members for allowing you to get special loot boxes. This also allows those patrons to advertise on the universe's most popular show. Sometimes its a political movement, sometimes its a company selling products, sometimes its just a celebrity who likes you. It could be even stranger things.

Each party member notices the system AI giving an alert.

OPEN YOUR BOON BOXES!

Each person can see a ghostly chest in their HUD, floating off to the side. Upon touching it, the box becomes solid for all to see, and the item in question floats out. Then it vanishes into the wanderer's extra-dimensional inventory. Once there, it can be taken out and reviewed or used.

Tsuki is first, and opens something called 'Frist step in labyrinth' bronze boon box. Once opened, it reveals a smaller package of something called 'wanderer biscuits' and a bottled water. It also gives 50 gold coins. The symbol on the odd money looks like a labyrinth.

The next is 'Burn em all and let the gods sort them out!', a bronze burners boon box. Sure enough, it is 3 flasks of what looks like oil. 100 sliver coins is also given.

There there is a 'front of the class' box, which has a empty book, a quill with ink and a 100 sliver.

Finally, there is a platinum boon box that is only called 'Background player bonus.' Once opened. there is a floating scroll that says the following.

"Thank you for providing new useful NPCs from your past. The Labyrinth will make good use of them!"

Inside there is a ticket, which says upon it 'Item upgrade'. There is also 100 gold coins.

All the money vanishes into her inventory.

Connor gets the same reward as Tsuki for the 'Frist step in labyrinth' and the 'Background player bonus.' However, he also gets the 'Smacked upside the head potion', which is a healing potion and 50 gold. Then he gets the 'It squirted out the hole it punched into you' box, which turns out to be 2 potions of what is called an 'antidote', which hangs over its description when viewed, along with 10 gold.

Then Nathan gets the 'Frist Step in the labyrinth' and 'Background player bonus.' He also gets something called a 'sniper's box', which includes 10 rounds of ammo and 100 sliver.

OOC: Okay...updated my Character sheet with stuff and updated loot box record as well.

Connor looks curiously at the loot he gained. Some of them, like smacked upside the head, definitely displayed the sarcasm of the AI Host and, indirectly, it's Shaitan backers. Others, like the background player bonus, gave truly intriguing loot but worried him at the same time.

He did note that the Healing Potion was NOT a Minor Healing Potion, and was thus distinctly different. And the Antidote potion was also something very different than the "normal" alchemical items he could craft as an Alchemist sub-class. The special-potion type items seemed to be unique to the labyrinth and seemed to hold potent and special properties.

He mentally pulled up his HUD again.

Computer? Please identify the Healing Potion. Please Identity the Antidote Potion. Please identify the item upgrade certificate. he mentally thought out as a HUD command.

"Is everyone okay? Did everyone open their loot boxes and take note of the gains to your character sheet?" he asked.

He turned to the Guildmaster.

"Thanks for warning us more about the upcoming Confessional. We'll do out best. Is there anything else about this level you would like to tell us, or think we should know before we head out to clear our way to the other safe room and from there, the exit?"

"So...oil?" She would look at it in her inventory more closely to see what exactly it was. She would also take a more closer look at the bottle of water to make sure it was actually that, bottled water.

Then the empty book and quill really caught her attention and she took a closer look at it as well. Identifying all her new object more closely.

The AI says in its normally snide voice.

This potion is a cure all for most forms of poison, animal or made by chemistry! Please note...it is NOT for hangovers. You are on your own there, buddy!
The sarcastic tone is obvious.

Upgrade Certificate!

Oh boy, oh boy! You hit the jackpot!

You may use this one time token to improve any bit of equipment that is upgradeable! This provides a power boost to said item, but what is improved can be...tricky. Very, very tricky. Good luck...you are gonna need it!

You know humans discovered this like 1000s of years ago, right? Granted it was most likely by accident, but you got there! Good for you. Took you bunch long enough...
Tsuki does not need her keen insight to detect the contempt.

Bottled water!

You drink this. Put in throat...slowly...and try and swallow. Without choking! Don't try and eat the bottle, ok? Not yummy! There's a good human!


The book and quill seem to sparkly slightly in Tsuki's HUD. When inspected closely, the AI pipes in.

Book and quill of recording!

This magical item will allow the user to record details via your HUD! Anything you put there can appear in the book! A new tab in your HUD will be available upon opening it. Now you can share your slam poetry with anyone just by thinking about it. So...its sorta a torture device.


Any test done by Tsuki shows that by mentally typing something in her HUD allow the quill to animate and write it in the book. The handwriting is flawless, and pictures can be quite detailed, although lacking artistic skill.

The guildmaster floats over to Nathan, and mentally sighs, which can be heard in the minds of everyone in the room. As can the creature's mental response.

I can share this with you now. No one is here voluntarily, expect the people who run the games. Maybe not even them. All matter, taken during the...repurposing...of your world is not destroyed. It is reused, and reshaped. That includes living things. For animals, this is not much of a change. They would not even notice changes to their new bodies and forms.

For intelligent beings, it is different. Memories are suppressed. However, they cannot be fully erased-not without brain damage. That being said, the nature of the creature within the labyrinth is usually taken into account when given a new form by the AI. The innocent remain innocent. Predators remain predators. The show's...writers, let's call them...find it more compelling if the wanderers involved in the show have a 'backstory link' to what is going on in the games. That is all I am permitted to say about that.


One tendril gestures to the room marked with the hamburger.

You can go in there and rest. There will be food provided, but with your new map you must travel to the ramp down as soon as possible. Once there, we shall meet again. After you are made aware of the Confessional process, and go through said Confessional. Good luck, Wanderers.

Sure enough, upon passing through the door, it vanishes behind them. The group seems to be in a burger place of some kind. There are familiar clowns on the wall, and various prefab chairs and tables. However, the windows show nothing but darkness outside. No light the party has seems to pernitrate the gloom, and the lights inside the restaurant seem to flicker.

Upon exploration, the kitchen area is also empty. However, the front counter has holographic display saying 'FOOD ORDERS HERE'.

No matter what the person in question asks for food, what materializes is a burger, a shake, a small salad and a bottle of water. It does taste a lot better than the 'wanderer biscuits' that have been provided.

After eating, several cots appear and seem to indicate the need for sleep. Most of you are fairly exhausted due to your journey so far. The map you can summon at will shows several days travel by foot to get to the exit, so you will need to your strength.

Assuming everyone does rest, in roughly eight hours you feel refreshed and healed. Conner can repurpose his spells, as can Tsuki and Dee. Hershel, John M, and Malcom seem fully healed as well. These new bodies seem to heal faster than any human ever could, even given those horrible injuries.

Once everyone is ready, a Holographic 'EXIT' sign appears above the doors out. They would not budge before, but now they open easily back into the labyrinth. The group heads out, and follows the map to the exit zone. While webs remain, no spiders or spider mites seem to attack or be nearby. Although your new map does show red dots in other areas, along with blue dots. Often the red dots vanish from the map, but so do blue dots. You are certain the red are the enemy, while the blue are fellow Wanderers.

There seem to be far less Wanderers at this point.

After days of travel through the stone corridors, you start to wonder if the map is even correct. If this is nothing but a cruel trick to get you lost, and the level collapse will end you all upon the timer running out. However, it turns out that the map is very accurate.

You see a massive escalator going deeper into darkness before you. Its big enough for 10 people to use it at once. The metal is very shiny, and has strange runes etched into its surface. While you have several hours left, the only option is to go down...
