Re: OOC

Nathan rolled 25 using 1d20+9 ((16)). If needed could Nathan get +2 for doing a "careful search' prior to start of combat?

Instead of calling this the 'siege of Frogville' we can tittle this 'Hell comes to Frogtown'? :P

Re: OOC

I am going to be out of town from tomorrow after work until Sunday evening.

Connor will he focusing initially on getting his protection ward aura going and will use an action every round thereafter for the next minute to sustain. It will keep growing 5 feet till maxing at a 30 foot radius.

Next round, he'll cast flaming sphere with 2 actions (the third being to sustain his ward). The sphere technically does area damage, so he will roll the thing around and start decimating the mob due to its mob trait causing it to take double damage from area attacks.

If people need to have him be NPC'd for a turn he does the following for his next turn after this one I just posted today:

Round 1: Already posted. Ward is at 10 foot radius granting +1 AC to everyone he considers an ally. Cabochon flies high above the battlefield.

Round 2:

-Spend 1 action to sustain the Ward. It grows to 15 feet in radius.
-Spend 1 action to use widen spell to fatten the ward another 5 feet. Ward now 20 feet in radius!
-Spend 1 action to Activate Cabochon.
----Spend 1 familiar action to Drop an alchemist fire flask onto one of the giant mushrooms
----Spend his other familiar action to toss his second remaining alchemist fire onto another giant mushroom.

Round 3:

-Spend 1 action to sustain the Ward. It grows to 25 feet in radius.
-Spend 2 actions to cast flaming sphere and drop it somewhere within 30 feet of the wall and start mowing the mob down with double-amount area fire damage.

Round 4:

-Spend 1 action to sustain the Ward. It grows to 30 feet in radius, which is its max possible size and basically covers a 60 foot diameter which should be most of the relevant battle.
-Spend 1 action to activate Cabochon, who double-moves back into orbit around Connor.
-Spend 1 action to sustain Flaming Sphere, and roll it if necessary to continue mowing down the mob with double strength area fire damage. NOTE: The sphere will do another die of damage (before doubling) and gain +1 DC, due to cabochon orbiting connor and once again boosting his spell potency with the stone of life and death.

By then I should be back in town.

In reply to Connor (msg # 470):

Possible issues with your actions.

Assuming you are at the top of the gate, looking down at the battlefield, that's over 300 feet away from the gaint mushrooms. They are being kept behind the front lines of the horde. They are also being guarded by the large FMRs.

How fast does your familiar fly?

So its 300 feet to the area where the gaint mushroom. Remember, familiars dont get as many actions as PCs. Also, if you drop it from so high up to avoid possible counterattack, there may be accuracy issues, and your familiar lacks any combat skill what so ever.

Re: OOC

Oh, i forgot:

Dragon Breath only takes two actions, i'm going to use my third on the parry action so that's 24 AC for me. 25 if i'm in range of Connor's Ward.

Correct some items require attack rolls but some things can just be dropped I figure and they can break you know like a flask especially if it's on a very large Target you know what I mean. Another thing I want him to do later on is caltrops etc.

But ya he can't do 300 feet yet. He gets two actions for every one Connor spends on him. It can't do as much.

Re: OOC

In reply to Connor (msg # 475):

I would agree in most circumstances, but you want to make sure the little guy is out of any counterattack range. So he can't safely just hover 20 feet in the air and drop something.

Plus, the large mushrooms are horse sized. Which is large, but not large enough to insure auto-accuracy.

Re: OOC

Depending on the blast radius you don't really need to be that accurate anyway :P

That said, in Pathfinder 1e you could target the ground and it'd count as having a ranged touch AC of 5, and the only difference would be that whatever's in that location would not take direct hit damage, though they (and others) in range would still take the splash damage. Not sure how 2e handles it though.

Re: OOC

Ok so gonna quickly re-do my queued actions for when I'm gone this weekend:

Round 1: Already posted. Ward is at 10 foot radius granting +1 AC to everyone he considers an ally. Cabochon flies high above the battlefield.

Round 2:

-Spend 1 action to sustain the Ward. It grows to 15 feet in radius.
-Spend 2 actions to cast flaming sphere and drop it somewhere within 30 feet of the wall and start mowing the mob down with double-amount area fire damage. This thing is the mob-eater.

NOTE: The sphere will do another die of damage (before doubling) and gain +1 DC, due to cabochon orbiting connor and boosting his spell potency with the stone of life and death.

Round 3:

-Spend 1 action to sustain the Ward. It grows to 20 feet in radius.
-spend 1 Action to sustain Flaming Sphere, rolling it to another position to mow down more of the mob if needed.
-Spend 1 action on orb of focus to add +2 to the DC on TOP of the +1 accuracy from the orb of life and death. Burn baby burn!

NOTE: The sphere will do another die of damage (before doubling) and gain +1 DC (+3 DC with orb of focus), due to cabochon orbiting Connor and boosting his spell potency with the stone of life and death.

Re: OOC

Ah, which reminds me, a question about the vulnerability to area attacks:

My breath weapon did base 6 damage (does it get a stat-based +, btw?), and the Horde rolled badly enough on the Reflex save that it got doubled to 12. Since its vulnerable to area attacks, does that then get doubled again to 24, or does the multiplier increase from x2 to x3 for 18?

Re: OOC

If this is a horde and area effect things are best, I'd like to throw a torch at the stacked up wood plus oil that Mo prepared beforehand. I was gonna save it but sod that.

Is the horde around that? Would it get them? Should I roll a ranged attack to throw the torch?

Vulnerable and resistance are always numbers, and the number in question you may not be aware of.

Yes, you may throw a torch. You use your based ranged attack to hit, however, the range mod for thrown things is 10'. Meaning you are 40' up on the top of the wall. So you will be at -3 to hit an AC of 10.

Giving people another day or so to post their actions.

Sorry it took so long to get a post out! After my procedure last Monday I could barely sit up without severe migraines setting in. People warned me that that would happen, but I did not expect anything like this. I'm still getting them, but now that I am back on my meds that are slowly getting better and better.
