Remember, it does not have to be. It could be a divine idea you bring into the labyrinth with you. Something you regard as sacred. It would need to be fleshed out a bit as you would become this idea's 'priest'. For example-Freedom might require you to never to capture or enslave anything. Killing is fine, but not chaining something or enslaving it.

Just a reminder, we are starting at level 2. Everybody will get a free multiclass feat or an extra heritage feat. Anyone needs help picking those let me know.

She's crossed over as a Kitsune Sorceress (Elemental Fire) or Oracle of Flame. Still deciding on the class part. :)

So I initially was going to go which but the GM told me somebody is multiclassing witch. So instead I might go either wizard or summoner with an alchemist as my multi-class so that I can try to feed healing elixers to the party and give familiars sneeze powders to drop on enemies, etc.

Just a reminder, everybody needs a description and portrait for both human and wanderer versions of your characters.

Hey all.

So I decided to set in stone my choice of class. I will be playing a wizard, with the alchemist multiclass. They both use intelligence, but more than anything I want to use his reagents to help supplement the party's daily resources and options. Especially if I get a familiar who can run potions to people during fights and stuff.

I haven't fully decided on school or universalist yet but I'm leaning toward abjuration or conjuration schools, which tend to jive well with me. I like illusion too, but tend to use them like a form of abjuration (i.e. like the hallucinatory terrain spell to cover our campsite, etc) rather than the full tricksiness a full illusionist would enjoy.

I'm going either familiar or staff thesis and still deciding, but strongly leaning toward the familiar so it can use items I make in fights to provide the party with support options. :)

I've settled on Fire Elemental Sorceress. There is a spell in it's list that as a Kitsune I need and won't get as a Flame Oracle considering it's on the primal list and oracles get the divine list.

Classes so far:

What spell? There may be a way to get it for you still and oracle is very thematic for your character backstory.

You can get it at 4th level through Divine Access (Dahak) if you don't need it right away

Or multiclass, since it's a buff and the DC doesn't matter

Ok so I'm not like a specialist on the pathfinder rules or anything, but I took a look a Archive of Nethys and found oracle has a few options to get you what you want.

1.) 4th level class feat of Divine Access. The fire domain has a god named Dahak that grants magic fang. This means you can add it to your class spell list (if I'm reading the rules on Nethys right). You don't actually need to worship dahak.

2.) Take oracle primary class with a sorcerer multiclass and use primal as your sorcery list. Also at 4th level, the basic sorcerer spell casting will allow you to take magic fang as a first level primal spell in your repertoire.

3.) While not a perfect fix, I can give you energy mutagens that will let your strikes do some fire (or other energy type you want) damage.


It seems that if you want the spell, you can grab it at 4th level with a feat either through oracle class feat or a multiclass one, and we start at level 2 so level 4 isn't that far away.

The real question is how badly do you want to play oracle? If the answer is "it's my first choice of preference" then I say go for it and make your feats work for your concept and I can feed you mutagens until level 4. :P

Either way I'll not get it until 4th level. Multiclassing won't let me have it until I take the Basic Spellcasting feat for the Dedication I took which is a 4th level feat. That is unless GM fiat steps in and lets me take it at 2nd level instead.

Thematically Sorcerer or Oracle fit for my character as her shrine was dedicated to Kami -Inari. Inari used (this is Shinto mythology mind you) kitsune as messenger's, and there are 13 different types of kitsune. The thirteen different kinds of Kitsune each have their own element, including Heaven, Dark, Wind, Spirit, Fire, Earth, River, Ocean, Mountain, Forest, Thunder, Time and Sound. So going either Oracle or Sorceress works perfect. In fact when it came to either almost any bloodline or mystery fit. Almost.

The other real question is, how bad do I need Foxfire. :) Which is the reason for this debate. ;)

Is it just one spell that you need? Make the character you want, and magic items and such can fill in the gaps for that one spell.

The DM makes a great point, Tsuki.

If magic fang is literally the ONLY thing making you hesitate to roll an oracle...then just roll an oracle and the party and DM will make it work somehow. Playing the most fun concept is most important. As a player, I also want to see you having fun too and not letting magic fang be a hang up. ^_^

Yup. :) And I do want to try something new. :)

So it boils down to which mystery then. Tempest which covers the Wind, Thunder, and all the water kitsune; Flames which covers the Fire Kitsune; Cosmos which would cover the Heavens; or Ancestors which cover the spirit.

You don't actually need Foxfire at all for your idea. There are ways we can get you a produce fire cantrip or something.

I do think the idea of you being a fire Oracle of inari is really cool. I think you should go for it as it sounds like this is really what you was a player will find the most entertaining.

If you change your mind or your concept changes let us know and we'll see what we can do as a team to accommodate it.

Foxfire has the benefit of being able to fire off every action and it's a ranged touch attack in the sling category with no reload and the magical trait that qualifies as a natural weapon as well. So it has a lot of benefits. It just has low damage.

Produce Flame you can only fire off once a turn, however it also does 1d4 + the spellcasting modifier damage which in Tsuki's case is +4. It's also ranged touch attack.

So at the lower levels that are about equal. Do a single stride and then two Foxfire's or one Produce Flame and you'd be doing roughly the same damage. Where the curve slides in favor of Foxfire in lower levels is when you do not need to move.

Now higher levels it slides more in favor of Produce Flame because it scales and sadly natural weapons do not. But that's where magic comes into play because thing's like Magic Fang and Hand Wraps of Mighty Blows will affect her Foxfire because it is considered an unarmed attack. So that is how Foxfire gets benefit's at higher levels.

So Magic Fang is the low level need to get by, but ultimately Hand Wraps of Mighty Blows is the ultimate goal for her Foxfire (and maybe Claws if I choose that Ancestry feat later).
