Star Trek Renegades

Gimish laughs again his whimsical chortal of a giggle. Then sticks out his hand to shake Stavock's. "As I said. A treasure hunter at heart! I have some things that might help, besides the information and codes on the P.A.D. There is an old shuttle that you might have to use during your initial approach to the floating junkyard. The shuttle is the old Galileo class F shuttlecraft by Starfleet dockyards. Yes, it is old but should look harmless enough not to cause the yard security much to fuss over. Many of these designs are decommissioned and are now in private hands. This shuttle is mine but you can certainly use it on the recovery trip."

"So we are now glorified repo and garbage men?" snorts Hutch. Gimish turns and says, "Yes my boy! Yes! But the job does pay! Depending on your success at this there are more jobs I have open. I want to test you first with a simple one." He draws and puffs more of the foul smelling contents of the pipe. "Just beware the Pakled, Godnolog. Pakleds are dumb , brute, and sometimes violent beings!"

Abiding by local custom, the Vulcan shakes the Human's hand.

“Where is this ship Gimish?” he asks.

In reply to Stavock (msg # 800):

Gimish shakes your hand and says,"The shuttle is in the back lot behind my store. It is small enough to fit in your main hold I would imagine. Its an older shuttle design from the 2260s. The operation codes are on the P.A.D."
He directs you to the back lot. There you see a jumble of machines and various parts in various stages of use and or decay. Rust spots many of the machines. At the center of this you see the old Federation shuttlecraft. Its box-like design and look heralding from a bygone era but surprisingly it looks new if used. Gimish smiles," She is capable of a max speed of warp 2. That is a personal upgrade of mine from the original design. As you can see the nacelles! I also installed a type 1 forward phaser array and an aft and forward firing photon torpedo launcher on its belly. Its a type 1 too and only carries 3 torpedos max. So don't get into any protracted battles!"

Gimish rubs and scratches his stubbly beard with his hand and thinks for a minute. "The shuttle is at your disposal while you are doing work for me. If at some point you wish to keep it I am sure we can settle on a price or trade." He finishes the contents of his pipe and turning it over taps the spent contents out before stuffing it in his chest pocket on his yellow coveralls. "You can leave either now or later the choice is yours. Just bring me that derelict and the drive. I'm in no particular rush!"

Stavock ponders for a mere moment, “accepted, the shuttle might be of use in the future but there is the risk of Federation interference, and I believe they would presume we had stolen it from them. So, we will defer to that and leave it in you possession after we return.”

The Vulcan stood silent for another second and spoke once more...

“I will summon my crew and make plans, tomorrow we shall depart and retrieve the Nimbar warp core.”

Stavock looked at Hutch, “I presume this is acceptable?”

Hutch nods,"I will see where this leads. I know Vosh would not just take any job. Her contacts are bar none. Yes. Yes, this is acceptable." After your meeting, you all return to Vosh's and Navaar's chance house. The night is just a few hours in and it seems there are still plenty of patrons ready to try their luck and games of chance. Hutch lingers there a bit and the night drags on.

Stavock contacts the rest of his crew, and explains that they converge at the 'Last Chance,' by the forthcoming morning.

He turns to Hutch, “will you be travelling in your ship, and joining us later in the shuttle or do you think it is wise to travel with us, in the Last Chance?”

In reply to Stavock (msg # 806):

"It would be safer if I stay to my own ship. Act as a rear guard or backup in case things go sideways. Besides We might need the added firepower of a second ship." It is not long after Hutch's ship with Neras is in low orbit and Hutch is beamed aboard.
Back on The Last Chance, the crew is back having been well rested and stated if a bit poorer. Risa is a notorious tourist trap. Everyone except the Klingon Krungg who still seethes with a need for his peoples need for vengeance against Pressman. You have the coordinates for the derelict space yard and soon you are underway. In the span of a few short hours, Ospec informs you that you are approaching the Ventat yards. Looking out the forward screen you see a great many ships on long-range sensors circling a central space station of Federation design.
It is very likely that there are some Federation patrols about or at the very least Federation ships with easy earshot and arrival time.

“Mister Takk Takk, take us in, using a course to avoid any detection!” States Stavock. “As soon as we are close enough, we will switch to the shuttle.”

“I need volunteers to join me on the shuttlecraft,”
he asked over the intercom and link to Hutch's ship.

In reply to Stavock (msg # 808):

Ospec, Vosh, and surprisingly Neras ask to come along. The shuttle being relatively small only seats 6 at most. Takk-Takk takes you all on a course that gets you very close to the ship junkyards border. The long-range scans detect a Federation frigate on patrol around the periphery of the junkyard. There are many derelict hulks and hulls of various ships. Tumbling and spinning either on their own axis or in the rotation of the greater junkyard.
While many would see this or any junkyard as simple trash. The value of the hull, various alloys, and other components are in effect worth a fortune on many worlds. Gimish seems to have an eye and sticky hand for profit. You wonder if he is part Ferengi.

In reply to Stavock (msg # 810):

Ospec and Takk-Takk launch the Shuttle with Ospec being in the pilots chair. The suttle flies without a problem. Being so old it seems Gimish made every effort to keep it pristine and space-worthy. The minutes tick by as you travel into the junkyard. Following Gimish's coordinates you soon see a floating hull of an old Vulcan ship. By the look of the warp stabilizer ring and the overall design, the ship looks like the types your people used in the mid and late 2100s.
In the distance, you see a small space station with a central docking ring. This station is of Pakled design and you see that there are Pakled vessels of various kinds leaving and docking to the station. Ospec's scans indicate that there are multiple work crews engaged in various assignments on the scattered derelicts.

Stavock scans the old Vulcan ship, focusing on locating the Nimbar warp core. He also scans for other devices, tracers, traps or otherwise.

He ponders wither they could put a locator device on the warp core, and have it beamed aboard the Last Chance.

Your scan bears fruit and you are able to locate the drive. Takk-Takk takes you all in closer and soon your shuttle is no more than two meters from the hull of the Vulcan ship. Your pilot takes the shuttle over an access hatch on the Vulcan ship's hull and it looks like there is no atmosphere in the interior of the ship. The structure appears sound and there is an axial rotation to it.

"We could beam over and get it. Provided your beaming signature does not trip a theft alarm. We could go stealthy and space walk there and back." Ospec scratches behind his ears as he speaks.

Takk takk awaits at the airlock of the shuttle, Vosh and Neras don their EVA suits. " Keep focused on the center of the Kal'tholis." says Ospec. "The part with the least amount of rotation. That should help you to not get dizzy. The ends of the ship are the worst to look at. Once inside look for the strongest power source that should be the drive you are looking for. I will stay in the shadow of the Vulcan ship. With luck the shuttle will look like a piece of random debris."

Neras and Vosh are suited up and give you the thumbs up while maintaining radio silence. Ospec continues, "There are lots of Pakleds buzzing around with luck this will be a quick in and out!"

He follows the Ferangi's instruction gliding towards the centre of the ship, looking for a portal and a way in.

The airlock mechanism is old and pitted with micro meteorite strikes. The lock is mostly fused but you have a mechanised torque to open it. You are all soon in the outer airlock.
"The strongest energy signature is towards the nacell ring." says Vosh indicating the center of the ship.

In a few short minutes, you reach an obstacle. The lifts aboard this old ship are not working normally and the most direct route is not functioning at all. Either from no power or a bad rail track. You could either take the route through the crew quarters section to reach the main drive or you can try to power up the lift with some external power source.

After running a few scans; Takk Takk responds. [ The ship has almost no power to any of its systems. Life support is offline and most essential systems are down. Making finding the core as easy as it was. The other systems are,"cool", and not causing interferance. I would assume you could siphon off some power from either your tools or suits. That should bring the power on to at least get you to the drive deck and back.]
