Supervisor of reality:

OOC: So, the elemental are able to cast the spell repeatedly. Of course, you can simply make this into a battle of attrition, where you break it repeatedly until the elementals run out of uses per day of the ability, but that would consume a lot of resources, so it's up to you to decide if that's something you want to do, or if you'd rather come up with a better plan.

What resources, pray tell, would it be consuming on our part? XD

Re: OOC Thread II

...didn't Verik use Spell Points? I might have that wrong.

But you are correct, if you can do it without using limited resources and don't mind the repetitiveness of it, you can definitely just outlast the elementals. That's probably not a surprise, you knew you were stronger than them going in, which is why they're being tricky with things like Solid Fog and Ice Wall.

Re: OOC Thread II

I was thinking, how do you feel about using group initiative?
We would still all roll our own, but enemies roll only one initiative, and so after the first round, we would be able to all post at once without waiting on each other.

I find it would make things more dynamic, as at the moment it feels like it’s been a long time when we’ve each played only one round.

More to the present point, Nar is definitely not a wait it out type of person, so when it’s her turn she may try something a bit more decisive.

Re: OOC Thread II

I won't be doing that, having different enemies act at different times adds tactical complexity, which I just prefer.

As for you doing what you want, you can certainly do that; I know I didn't post the initiative order again, Nar, but if you check, you'll see you go after Verik, so the next post in the main thread is yours to make, whenever you want. You don't need to wait on me, I already made my post, and what happened is that one of the Elementals that got to act between you and Verik re-cast the Ice Wall. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

So, whatever decisive action you want to take, by all means, write it down and post it - I'm looking forwards to see what you have in mind! ^_^

Re: OOC Thread II

Well, in a way, you can 'hold your action' and get next to each other in the initiative order if you don't want the elementals to recast the barrier while you're trying to get through it, but yeah... Staggering the number of attacks a group of enemies can make in a round before anyone can take any defensive actions is in itself also a tactic.

Re: OOC Thread II

Verik expends no resources with the acid blast he just did, so if that creates enough of a hole to get the elementals to recast the wall he could wear them down.  Assuming they don't also have unlimited castings.

They don't have unlimited castings, don't worry. On that front, you definitely have the edge.

I'm waiting on Banner actually, but I guess what he's doing doesn't really interfere with the actions of the rest of you; I'll have something up for the elemental battle either later today or sometime tomorrow, sorry for the delay.

Ok, Iona, I wanted to check, because it's not at all clear from your post: are you spending your whole turn doing nothing but talking? Is that the total amount of actions you're going to take during your turn?

Re: OOC Thread II

Yeah, the ice elementals aren't taking any aggressive actions towards us aside from trying to keep us contained on the platform, so ICly Iona would not be trying to hunt them down. She generally tries to avoid combat where possible, being overly cautious, she did the same in the wood maze if i recall.

Are Resonant Swarms sentient and capable of communication?

(Before you reach for the dice, GM... this is probably a Knowledge check. XD)

Oh, I knew you'd pass the knowledge check, Diata - in fact, you passed it the first time you met the radiant swarms back on Khepri's fortress island, but I thought you'd like the reminder. :)

Neither being Radiant nor being Blessed would provide a creature with intelligence in normal circumstnaces, and considering how being mindless is one of the swarm's primary advantages, it's unlikely it did in this case either, but you won't be sure until you actually try to communicate with them in some manner - even if it was capable of talking, it likely wouldn't use common.

Re: OOC Thread II

So... I've seen a number of suggestions on what you might do to tackle the current situation, but it doesn't seem like any of you has resolved to take any specific action on the matter. Until somebody decides to actually do something, the game can't progress.

Re: OOC Thread II

Ok, I proposed a specific strategy (Iona goes incorporeal and tries to steal the card, if they attack (and harm) her, or if they attack the rest of us, we start in on the area of effect blasts.
I have 30 foot radius explosive orbs (or 5 foot radius orbs for less SP) that can deal either cold or bludgeoning damage. Does everyone else have something at least somewhat effective against swarms?

Re: OOC Thread II

I think I messed up a description somewhere, so I'll clarify things.

There's no card in the room, there's a pillar in the center with a passcard-shaped slot; you're supposed to insert a passcard in, which you need to already have on your person (you have two at the moment), so that it can absorb the divine power, and then pull it out. Both inserting and pulling out would be a standard action each, and you don't currently know how long the card needs to be left in the indent to properly assimilate the power. There will likely be some visual indication once an inserted card has absorbed the power, however, likely in the form of the pillar stopping to glow.

In reply to Iona de Orasaigh (msg # 879):

Whoops, I misremembered/misread. Plan should still work, while holding one of the cards, Iona goes incorporeal (which presumably includes her equipment) goes underneath the room and puts the card in from below. If something goes wrong, we start blasting.
