Welcome, everyone! Feel free to introduce yourselves/your characters here.

Here's some basic info to get you started on character creation:

Characters will start at 1st-level.

All content from the Player's Handbook and Expanded Content is fair game.

Use the 27-point buy method for determining your Ability Scores.

Don't roll for starting credits; rather, take the equipment provided by your Class and Background, and feel free to sell (at full price) anything you don't want. You can then use any remaining credits to purchase additional equipment.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Oh, and if anyone wants to format a complete text character sheet and share it here, that would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, I will try to get one together soon.

There was a lot of interest in this game, and we received a lot of good applications. I couldn't narrow it down to six characters, as I had initially intended, so we're starting with seven instead.

Well, if we are all going to be part of the same Rebel cell, we should all probably get to know each other's characters, no?

I've already shared what Kayrrerl looks like in The Cast description section, but I'll share her backstory with you guys here:

Though presumably born on the planet of Kashyyyk, Kayrrerl is truly a child of Nar Shaddaa. Kayrrerl was only five when her parents arrived on the Smuggler's Moon, so she has no clear memory of what brought them there. She has vague impressions of her father actually flying the ship that brought them to the Huttspace moon, so perhaps they were legitimate traders of some kind. Or maybe they were on the run from the slavers of the Empire. Kayrrerl was never sure. But their time on Nar Shaddaa was short, and brutal. Swoop gangers set upon the Wookiee family when they were walking the lower Promenade. Both her mother and father were slain during the course of the robbery.

Fleeing into the lower city levels, Kayrrerl eventually found herself throwing in with a small group of other street urchins in order to survive. Her education over the next ten years was the cruel tutelage of the street. More often than not, her sheer size and strength saw her safe from the worse of the urban predators. However, that unorthodox education saw her learning to hotwire and jury rig all manner of machinery. Some for survival, some for jobs pulled for credits, and some to repair vehicles for her little child gang. Such competence eventually brought her to the attention of the Hutts, as anything of value on the Smuggler's Moon does. "Offered," more like press-ganged, a position with Lorgosh the Hutt. At first just a courier, but eventually rising to the level of pilot. By the time Kayrrerl was in her twenties, she had left Nar Shaddaa many times to perform smuggling runs on Lorgosh's behalf. And she was good at it too. Unfortunately, nobodies luck lasts forever.

The wily Wookie was caught by an unscheduled patrol that overtook her ship when she was making an illegal fuel exchange over Malastare. While not foolish enough to fight back against her captors to the point of being executed, Kayrrerl nonetheless made life difficult for her local garrison jailers. But as luck, or the Force, would have it, several Rebel saboteurs were being temporarily held at the same prison. Not long after her capture, a rescue mission descended upon the prison and caused all manner of mayhem. Finding herself herded along with the majority of the Rebels, Kayrrerl decided to aid them in their escape. Better them than deal with the reprisals of the Empire. Once freed, Kayrrerl eagerly joined up with the Rebel Alliance. Theirs was a noble cause, and she was sick of dealing with honor-less, backstabbing Hutts. The Rebels found Kayrrerl a useful asset. For she was already skilled in many areas that overlapped with rebellious activity. Besides, when in the thick of a blaster fight, who doesn't want an eight-foot storm of fury watching your back?

Usha has a description (and picture!) in her description but here is her backstory:

Usha is a former member and one of the few survivors of Darokin's Deathrunners, an Outer Rim pirate group wiped out by the Empire. The Deathrunners were not officially Rebels but had an uneasy truce with the local representatives of the Alliance because they didn't use excessive violence and mostly targeted the Hutts and the Empire - Darokin himself and most of the original pirates were escaped slaves from a Hutt Cartel who liberated themselves (and most of their former owner's wealth) during the confusion of the Clone Wars.

Usha herself is the daughter of one of the pirate captains and grew up in the exciting and dangerous world of star buccaneering. She's a good pilot and dreams one day of commanding her own ship as a rebel privateer but she's even better brawler and scrapper, ever happy to throw a punch or point a blaster at a bad guy. In a good mood she's great company, fond of drink, corny jokes and gambling and a friendly punch up. In a bad mood she's... best not crossed really.

Since the destruction of the Deathrunners around the time of the Battle of Yavin Usha has ended up in the Rebellion proper. It has taken some adjustment. While she likes the camaraderie and the excitement and the chance to stick it to the Empire she's puzzled by the willingness of the Rebels to work without masses of credits involved (she wouldn't sell out her friends for money but she does like it) and she's still getting used to more nuanced work.


Mechanically she's a Fighter with the Pirate background with a few other skills to allow her to do stuff outside of brawling and blasting. :-)

Looks like we both came from less than shiny origins.

I was thinking about designing a ship for the game, when I remembered I made on a long time ago.

...and then once I looked at it again, I realized it was basically a Corellian freighter that had a baby with an A-Wing.

Before his clan he declared a blood hunt upon the Empire. Until his dying day he would hunt it until he had felled the beast. In his heart he has no illusion of seeing the deed done. But that does not matter.

He found his way naturally to the Rebel Alliance. The 'Old Cat' as the Rebels call him was welcome for his wisdom and skill at arms. Unremarkable he might be to his people, but any old Cathar is a fierce and exceptionally experienced hunter to anyone not of his race. He has a way with the savage peoples of the galaxy and an intimate understanding of any wilderness biome that make him a valuable guerilla fighter. Carrmar is difficult to approach or befriend as he already resigned himself to death in battle, but he does eagerly bestow his many wisdoms upon those who can hear them, whether they welcome the Old Cat's ramblings or not.

I'm still going through the character sheets...

I don't really use the website, so I wasn't aware that there were Expanded Content Tech- and Force-powers. The only Expanded Content I was familiar with were Species, Archetypes, and Backgrounds.

Hmm... I think I'll need to make another amendment: for any Expanded Content outside of Species, Archetypes, and Backgrounds, check with me first.

Not everyone needs to be deployed, so you should be fine.

You'll be able to jump to hyperspace and head to Dantooine without any difficulty.

Kayrrerl, since you're going to be the pilot, can you post something in the game thread to indicate such and get the journey started? Then I'll post more tomorrow.

You shouldn't have to search the entire planet. The location of the old base would be known to most locals (and Imperials).

Alright, so since all the players besides Skawn are watching the cat out of the tree since February, it falls to me I guess.

GM, I'm not really happy with what's on the table. There's almost nothing to work off. No details that we can act on. Basic stuff like 'what's on the datasheet' 'how many imperials are meeting the ship' 'what does the interior of the bar look like and who looks interesting' is absent. Heck, Carrmar would love to bag some imps, but even things like their estimated number isn't something I can wrangle out of you. The world feels devoid of details and I can't roleplay in a vacuum. That's why I've been quiet. There's nothing to act off.

I am new ... to this game, and also to the game system.

Your Superiority Dice are d4s, not d6s--the previous player must have had those incorrect--, so you'll need to fix that on your character sheet.

Your two known Manuevers are:

ADMINISTER AID: As an action, you can expend a superiority die to tend to a creature you can touch. The creature regains a number of hit points equal to the number rolled + your Intelligence modifier.

CRIPPLING STRIKE: When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one superiority die to cripple the creature. You add the superiority die to the attack's damage roll and the creature gains 1 slowed level until the end of their next turn.

Critical Analysis allows you, as a bonus action on your turn, to analyze a target you can see within 60 feet of you. For the next minute, or until you analyze another target, you gain the following benefits:
  • When you analyze a hostile creature, your attack and damage rolls made with weapons with the finesse property or blaster weapons against that target may use your Intelligence modifier instead of Strength or Dexterity.
  • When you analyze a friendly creature, the target can end your Critical Analysis on them (no action required) to add your Intelligence modifier to one attack roll, ability check, or saving throw. Once a friendly creature has benefited from this ability, they can not do so again until they complete a short or long rest.
A hold-out blaster does 1d4 damage (+ your Dexterity bonus).

We should definitely take the transport, but I'm not sure if heading straight back to Mos Ayedu is a good idea right now. We're bound to be intercepted by more Imperials on the way there and/or once we get there. And it seems that several of us are injured. Perhaps we could find somewhere to hide out so we can rest and let the heat on us die down a bit before we try to get back to our ship.

If you all are okay with it, perhaps we can skip this skirmish and assume that you make the jump to hyperspace successfully. This will allow us to move on to the next part of the story, where we will be able to acquire some replacement characters.

New characters will start at 1st-level.

All content from the Player's Handbook and Expanded Content is fair game.

Use the 27-point buy method for determining your Ability Scores.

Don't roll for starting credits; rather, take the equipment provided by your Class and Background.

Let me know if you have any questions. And be sure to let me know when you get your character sheet completed so we can move on with the story.

Let's say that this will be your first time on an assignment together. However, you are all living/working on The Salvation, so it is very possible that you would know each other prior to the mission.

For those from the prior mission (as well as those also coming in new), Bosca’s role on The Salvation has been as a jack-of-all-trades; not a master of anything, but experienced enough in most areas to lend a hand and more than eager to stay busy. As a semi-experienced pilot, she probably “works” in the hanger, but doing more shuttle/delivery as well as helping with pre-flight/post-flight ship routines.

Due to being Balosar, she is often approached by rebels who are looking to buy death sticks. Depending on who you ask, it’s not necessarily a wrong assumption…

(I certainly am not declaring myself “the pilot” for future missions, it’s just probably the skills of most use while waiting for assignment)

Rysa is definitely not a 'fly things' person. She'll fetch and carry for anyone, has taken up helping cook, and mostly hits things before they hit rebels on missions. She's got a few other skills, but nothing the team would know yet.

There's a fair chance she's been one of those rebels looking for death sticks once or twice.

The only thing I could accomplish is banter, but I try not to be the “posts 3x more than others” person (I’m already painfully close in the OOC thread since joining), so I’m good to keep moving.


I am curious if our rebel group has anything resembling a chain of command (i.e. is one of us the mission “leader” or something like that)?

That, and if we're going to be covert, then we should probably be covert. Shooting at stormtroopers is not covert, last I checked.

As the team heads back to Shobba Wan's warehouse, they overhear several conversations on the street about the previous day's commotion: the Imperials allegedly captured a Jedi!

So we're in the Episode IV timeframe, where the Jedi are mostly hermits/legend and few people have seen them or think they exist, and at best consider them long gone. Does hearing this rumor stop anyone off of our current mission to go investigate?

I'm assuming it's pretty clear we all just keep moving on to Shobba since no one has replied in three days.

The main entrance, according to the plans R2-R3 accesses, leads to a reception area. Past that is the jail area which contains 64 cells. Beyond that, there is a hallway that leads to another office, a large property storage room, and a staff cafeteria. The hallway terminates at the rear entrance to the facility.

So I’m guessing this is a bigger facility than any of us were thinking. Without a manifest, I’m not sure how we approach it.

As an Operative, I’m a little more geared to sneak in, but I don’t know if we have anyone who wants to try to social/bluff us into the door.

I think attempting to sneak in will serve us better than trying to bluff our way in (unless we've got someone particularly skilled in that sort of thing). And I think going in guns blazing will end badly.

And it doesn't help that we don't know who we're looking for. All we know is that the prisoner in question might be a Jedi.

You should be able to find a slicer's kit easily, but they typically cost 800 credits.

R2-R3, Analyze is akin to Identify in D&D; I don't know what purpose it would serve to cast it on the data terminal/port.

GM - I am taking a position at the back door by the cafeteria, but Bosca is waiting for it to open at least once to try to see what they are walking into (i.e. is it an empty room, just a few personel, full of troops, etc).

Game Master:
After waiting near the back door for nearly 30 minutes, it opens briefly as a droid deposits a load of trash in a bin next to the door. The team only gets a brief glimpse inside the building; they see a dimly lit hallway and a closed door directly across from the rear door.

So to confirm, the "hallway at the end that terminates at the rear entrance" doesn't connect to all the other rooms it was described connecting to at this point, just a hallway with a single door? I don't know if I would have bothered going to look if I had known that...

Oh, that for sure is cool. Adds some context to some of the unexplained things that have been going. I'm not a personal fan of the direction it went, but at least they're adding fun content to set some precedent.

I'm more talking about all the Star Wars movies/shows they're all of a sudden dropping.

I'm getting into Star Wars literature for the first time. I've just been watching movies and shows. Finished up the first installment of the Darth Bane Trilogy recently.

Here's what you two need to create your characters:

New characters will start at 1st-level. All content from the Player's Handbook and Expanded Content is fair game. Use the 27-point buy method for determining your Ability Scores. Don't roll for starting credits; rather, take the equipment provided by your Class and Background, and feel free to sell (at full price) anything you don't want. You can then use any remaining credits to purchase additional equipment.

I think we should be ready to move on to the next mission once you have your character sheets completed.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Is there a limit on that (taking starting equipment and selling at full price)? It is pretty exploitable. By that, I could use the starting equipment 'a vibroweapon and light physical shield' to get the 2200 credit vibronodachi which I could sell for a huge boost in credits to buy gear. I don't want to abuse your generosity past what was intended.

And yeah.. I don't mind exploiting when the GMs intent was to be very, very generous but I never want to abuse what was offered. I'll keep my potential pick and sell options to more PHB and/or rules-as-intended options instead of as-written.

OK. I think my sheet is done. I made some use of the choosing class gear and selling it, but I believe I kept it reasonable. As-intended, rather than as-written. Let me pick up a couple of extra little things like a translator, but nothing pricey or extravagant.

I use a wristpad. Everyone probably should have some version of a datapad and some version of a commlink. A basic commlink is 50 credits and a basic datapad is 100 credits.
