OOC: House Rules

I will be adding more House Rules as I come up with them.

Nimbus
The radius of your Nimbus effect is based on your Gnosis. So a G1 Mage had a Nimbus radius of 1 meter, whereas a G3 Mage had a radius of 3 meters. Any 'flare' was discernible regardless of Gnosis, but the actual effect was only felt in the radius.

Scrutiny
A character may scrutinize a target a number of Successive Attempts equal to his/her Gnosis per scene.

Example: A Gnosis 1 character may throw their Scrutiny pool/e-action once per target per scene.
Example: A Gnosis 3 character may throw their Scrutiny pool/e-action three times per target per scene.

Expendables
Mana
1. Base Mana = The Character's Wisdom score
2. Add 1 Mana per dot of Private Hallow the Character has Access To
3. Scouring for Mana is extremely painful and in Combat and Social Scenes will lead to a -1 penalty to their next action. If Scourging occurs again in the same scene, this penalty increases by 1, each time.
4. Oblations -- see below for how this works.

Willpower
Per WoD core, Willpower refreshes once a Story ends; otherwise, it's through four means:

1. Fulfilling your Virtue
2. Fulfilling your Vice
3. Small 'triumphs'
4. A night of rest

To make things easier in scenes, you will always start a scene with full Willpower. The only ways to regain it on a scene are with numbers 1 through 3 above, and each method can only be "claimed" once per scene.

Legacies
Attainments from Legacies can be learned from an appropriate mentor once you reach the prerequisites listed for them, AND having a number of dots in the Mentor merit for the level of the attainment as show below:

Mentor (o) = 1st attainment
Mentor (ooo) = 2nd attainment
Mentor (ooooo) = 3rd attainment

Order Status
Every character will begin play with 1 dot of the Status merit in their Order. Further increases in Status will need to be purchased with XP and proper IC justification/actions after the game starts.

Shared Cabal Sanctum
The Cabal (to be named by the players) will begin play with a Shared Sanctum with the following stats:

Size (ooo)
Security (oo)
Library (o)
Hallow (o)

The players will get to choose the topic for the dot in Library, and also means everyone gets +1 to their starting mana pools. This also means your characters can perform Oblations at the Hallow to acquire more mana.

Oblations
Once per Chapter (i.e. month IRL), a character may perform an Oblation (these can be Path, Order or Legacy specific) at the Hallow (or not at the Hallow if doing a Legacy oblation) to increase their starting mana pool in all threads that month. The players may write up a "short story" of the Oblation and send a PM to the Storyteller while also making a Gnosis + Hallow (1) roll and each success will increase their starting mana pool by that amount for threads completed that month. If performing a Legacy oblation, the dice roll is instead Gnosis + lower of Resolve or Composure.

OOC Text in IC threads
Make sure any OOC text included in an IC post you make to a thread is done in the color Orange and listed as OOC.

Keeping track of Health, Willpower, Mana and active effects/spells in a thread
Sometimes your character will cast spells--typically buffs of some sort--that will last for a scene or longer. In order to keep track of those, please make sure that you list those in every post you make to the scene in which those effects are active, as well as including your current Health, Willpower and Mana for the scene like this:

OOC: Health: 8/8, WP: 7/7, Mana: 8/11. Active Effects - Unseen Shield (3 Armor, 24 hours), Honing the Form (+3 Strength, scene), Exceptional Luck (9-again, 2 rolls remaining, scene).

Cap on Successes on an Extended Casting
The total amount of successes you can distribute among spell factors on an extended casting is capped by and equal to your total dice pool for casting the spell--including things like high speech and other dice bonuses.

Dice rolls and possible situational/environmental penalties
When making any sort of dice roll, please check the box that reads Record Each Die on the dice roller. The reason for this is that at times the players may be unaware of a situational and/or environmental dice penalty that will be applied to their roll, which I will need to do by subtracting dice after the roll is made. I will be subtracting dice from right to left, and will need to be able to see each die rolled in order to do this.

Example: Player A makes a Dexterity + Athletics roll to throw a ball and scores 3 successes. However, at the time of their roll they did not take into account that strong winds will levy a -2 dice penalty on their roll.

Player A's dice roll results are as follow -- 8,2,4,7,8,9.

If we are to subtract the -2 penalty counting from right to left, Player A's actual result is 1 success instead of 3 based on the example above since the numbers highlighted in red would be the ones subtracted due to the environmental penalty.

This rule will also be important when it comes to combat and subtracting things like Defense and Armor from a player's attack roll, since the players are generally unaware of what an NPC's armor or defense values might be.
