Character Creation and House Rules.

BASIC CHARACTER CREATION
  • PL 20
  • Power Points 300
  • Expect rulings based on the following order of precedence: Fairness, Fun, Story, Cool, Realism. A separate consideration is how much work this will make for the GMs.
  • Dimensional travel is allowed. No multiverse travel.
  • Time Travel is allowed. See house rules on how time works. Certain time travel such as traveling to the start of a combat that's going poorly is not allowed per making it harder to GM and fairness. Though if you wanted to use this as a descriptor for a dodge/parry bonus, that's fine.
  • I want a non-system description of each power that describes at least the nature and source of the power. For instance "Alice produces pyrokinetic fire with her mind" or "Bob's mutant genetics have granted him supernatural strength". Feel free to combine powers in a single description if that makes sense. This helps me determine if a descriptor applies, for instance Alice's power is psychic and fire, Bob's power is mutant and genetic.

Standard Characters
  • From another multiverse
  • Had or gained divinity upon arrival
  • Free bonus Immunity to Aging (non-refundable)
  • Free bonus Immunity to Mnemic effects of Timetravel (non-refundable). Ie if someone changes the time-line you are aware of the change if it's noticeable to you. Either through memory or direct observation.

Local Characters
  • From this multiverse, this universe, and this planet
  • Limited to modern realistic builds
  • Major stuff like being a president, king, eccentric triolionaire etc. Is allowed but won't give you access to super-science, real magic, or the like. As a character like this will need to be written into the story, they will need a bit of back and forth in an approval process.
  • Since time travel is permitted and will rewrite ordinary characters if you're asking to play an ordinary character please state your willingness to accept this if it happens. This could mean major changes to your character sheet. Don't panic; Failure to remember will result in me asking delaying approval slightly.

HOUSE RULES
  • I reserve the right to add house rules as need be. Players will be informed when I do so.
  • Note the Mature rating. As I mentioned the baseline horror is the evening news, which can be a bit rough for young children. We'll stop shy of graphical depiction of sex, it's exclusionary and doesn't add much to a game like this. Gotta follow site rules.
  • If you'd like to and have time to run multiple characters I'll consider it, once I have an idea of how much time I have to post. If you are willing to play an NPC or someone's named minion, sidekick or summons provided that's agreeable to them, that could be helpful.
  • At PL 20 a number of "rude" powers can be dealt with. I am not disqualifying a build for having a "rude" power or even being built around one. I am disqualifying builds focused on collecting "rude" powers, because that would be boring.
  • All character can lose under some reasonable condition. I won't use impossible foes and won't accept characters who never lose. You will lose some encounters. If you can't accept the occasional retreat, capture, or defeat don't bother joining. Yes PC will tend to be setup to "win" when it will really count. Obviously PvP action will result in losing more often.
  • Time travel is based around horse-shoe nail theory of causation, meaning stepping on a butterfly won't change the timeline much unless it was a really important butterfly. In general there's a single timeline, but alternate timelines will occasionally branch off usually around a single random event that goes one way or another. When timelines branch off is seemingly random ie GM fiat, and more often than not the main timeline just gets overwritten.
  • Attractive advantage is available. It should be noted though that the typical model doesn't have the advantage. Rank-1 denote super-model level attractiveness. Rank-2 denotes god like beauty. Below average looks is a minor complication. Not so much a house rule as a common mistake people make.

Character Creation and House Rules.

Pitch a character idea. Try to keep it reasonably brief. A few paragraphs or a page or two is plenty. I suppose a really compelling phrase is the absolute minimum.

I don't have time to read everyone's novel, but I would like a reasonable idea of your concept.

You're trying to convince me: You're not going to cause me constant headaches, your character idea is going to be fun for you to play and for other players to play along side, I'm going to have fun providing a world and challenges for this character, and that this is a setup for an interesting story and fun game.

Character sheet isn't needed for approval and won't guarantee approval, but if you want to include one to clarify something in your pitch, that's fine
