OOC Discution

I think we are in agreement that everyone will be getting together for the Meteor Recovery mission so I'm okay starting a new thread for that while we wrap up the getting-together banter. If we are not in agreement, then we still need to work out the details!

Did you hear about the new dog breed they made for doing magic tricks? They call it a "labracadabrador!"

OOC Discution

I created the new tread for the next adventure. One post by character, I want to avoid the mess that the end of Issue 1 became (I had trouble to follow everyone post). For now you need to decide how you will organise your expedition, travel to the impact site, the material you want...

For the underwater part:

-Phoenix has Immunity: Life Support so OK.

-Fathom can breath underwater, OK

-Psyche can use a tk shield but can't use other TK, maybe OK.

-Anathema is the only one I don't have idea.

I think the best would be to find diving suit for Psychee and Anathema and either handwave many thing about them, like presure limitation and oxygen reserve or have a Async who can build advanced suits come in play. What do you think?

What makes you think that Anathema had any intention of going down there? =P

I actually do have a plan. Not much of a plan, but it is a plan! It does require a boat though.

Re: OOC Discution

Star Phoenix can create a solid Plasma bubble  construct containing a very limited atmosphere or extended air if we get some technological air supply. With his strength he can lift about 25 tons easily .. so a makeshift solid Plasma bathesphere or boat could work but his Constructs currently do not do moving parts though they can be reshaped at a thought or animated by his will.

Re: OOC Discution

Yeah, and what happens when Star Phoenix gets his shit pushed in by a pod of Async Giant Squids? I highly doubt you splurged on Continuous or could justify Innate on plasma constructs!

Call Anathema paranoid and overly cautious, but as much as she hates technology at least she knows a fiberglass yacht won't evaporate or explode when something goes wrong. >.>

Re: OOC Discution

His Constructs are permanent objects unless he dismisses them you have to smash them to break them and they leave behind broken bits if you can manage it. They are rank 8 constructs not easily broken. That is the equivalent of steel or stone I think.

And yes they are Innate... that is why he is very considerate to dismisses them instead of leaving them all over the place.

How can they possibly be innate? They're blatantly unnatural.

Re: OOC Discution

I create them set the matrix of their physicality in motion and they are permanent solid objects.  They cannot be 'dispelled'.. they are REAL objects and must be shattered or ground up.

Would be the same if I had create stone construct.. its real stone.. permanent not a power maintaining it.

Clearly Fathom needs to breathe for two and pass air mouth to mouth to Psyche!

Also I would suggest getting a salvage boat somehow in case the meteorite really is kryptonite for our powers.

Yes~!

Fathom would probably be safe to go down though; it seems that at least a portion of her powers resulted in biological mutations which should continue functioning even if nullified. Gills are gills! But are they fresh- or saltwater gills?

Re: OOC Discution

Yeah, all the biological adaptations are innate. Knock her out or nullify the descriptor, and she's still what she is... There ain't no going back for her.

Re: OOC Discution

As a GM I'd be skeptical about putting Innate even on seemingly natural things, because of a simple point I discovered when I made a biokinetic character: technically speaking, biological is a descriptor. Sure, Nullify (impact powers) effects like Anathema's staff (did I ever mention her staff?) wouldn't work on it, but it is still something that can be made to not work with the right descriptor effects. When you dig really deep into M&M, you even discover that seemingly blank 0-point human shlubs still have a handful of "invisible" ranks in Land Speed and Senses that could potentially be nullified by a biokinetic's powers. Truly innate abilities are rare; the metric I use is "can you imagine this creature continuing to exist if this were to be removed?" For example, a rat's Shrinking or a slime's Intangible.

Ehhh, whatever.   What I've done with my character feels justified to me.  I know you're not keen on sharing sheets so... well, I'm sure the Narrator will bring it up if there' a problem.  I mean, I wouldn't mind having a couple of extra points to play with!

Re: OOC Discution

To be fair I am super pedantic to the point where I've annoyed players out of joining my games. It can be difficult striking the right balance sometimes... and biting my tongue and letting other GMs do whatever they feel is right. It's funny how M&M is one of the most rigid superhero systems I've ever seen and so much of it is still up to GM interpretation with no obvious right or wrong answers.

Re: OOC Discution

Oh, I agree... there's a feel for it.  I've certainly pushed several player-candidates away from my own games.  Part of it, I think, is that as a GM working with a new player, you don't know if the player is a pure tactician looking to wring every last drop of use out of the build.

I'm unclear on how granular you want to go with deciding "how you will organise your expedition, travel to the impact site, the material you want..."   I thought that Star Phoenix had already arranged for some sort of water-vessel to take us, well, somewhere, back in Issue 1, message 86.

I'm also not real clear on what you're wanting us to post in the Issue-2 thread.   That's for in-character stuff, right?   I'm not terribly interested in playing out the logistics of planning a trip nor detailing what's in my character's luggage for the trip there.  And I hadn't really thought much beyond "she can withstand the high-pressure aquatic environment without protection.

I imagine that they're still going to need some method of actually searching for the meteorite.  The meteorite wasn't large enough to have a Tunguska-like effect on it's environment.  Searching for a big slab of rock among thousands of hectares of underwater mountains... yeah, this isn't going to go quickly.

My guess is that we can exploit Anathema's remote sensing ability for that since she seems to have a connection to the meteorite, while Fathom and Phoenix (and maybe Psyche) can do the heavy lifting once they pinpoint it.

Something like the Glomar Explorer would be ideal for raising stuff off the seabed without using powers, but that ship was scrapped in 2015 or so.

I'll give an in-character briefing once we're all together in meatspace on the water, whether it be in Sunfire Birdman's wacky plasma construct boat or some other more mundane vessel. Anathema herself has no real prep to do, but what little is to be done I'm waiting for Justy to do his post first.

Gah a horrible two day affair is coming to a close. Did not sleep well at all last night but the sickness seems to be coming down and I can now hear out of both my ears now. So this evening I'll be doing a post.
