Deck 23 - Auxiliary Operations Systems

Close to main engineering and operating off the same computer trunk, auxiliary systems is located above the ship's deflector dish.

The main transporter system operations are here along with sensor analysis modules for astronomical phenomena, planetary analysis, subspace analysis and EM and neutrino scanning

When necessary, direct control of the deflector dish, operation of the tractor beam or configuration of sensor, communications relay, exploration and emergency probes can also be done here.

The rear of Auxiliary Systems opens into a short hallway that connects to the upper mezzanine around the dilithium chamber in in Main Engineering.

The Operations Officer's office is conveniently located nearby

Off the hallway between Auxiliary Ops and the warp core upper mezzanine in Main Engineering, there is a restricted access turbo lift. For those with the right authorization code, the turbo lift will take you up past the deuterium storage bays and impulse engines to the top of the secondary hull (roughly in line with deck 15 of the saucer section). From here a narrow ladder well leads up the support pylon into the pod itself.

The pod was designed to be almost entirely automated and can removed with minimal effort when the ship is in a repair dock.  It is therefore lacking in all but the minimal requirements to permit maintenance or direct operation of the cloaking device, phaser array and torpedo launchers.

IC posting for the pod can be placed in this thread

Sirin made his way over to the pod. He brought a tricorder, pad and standard repair kit, tucked into a light backpack. He was glad to be slight of build when he had to do things like this.

"I'm going to have to get a contra grab unit if I want to move anything up there.

They don't even have a shuttlecraft dock in the pod.

I'll have to make sure there's a winch or a contragrav near by for emergencies.

Clambering through the bowels of the ship, Kotar was briefly envious of the Engineering Officer's smaller frame. These access hatches and passages had not been built for his race. Nevertheless, he was very pleased to be getting an up-close look at the various sections of the ship. In the days to come, he and the other new officers would no doubt be crawling all over the vessel discovering her quirks and idiosyncrasies for themselves. No vessel ever matched her plans exactly, and especially after a major refit, much of the detail work would have been decided on the spot by the fitters, and not recorded on the as-built drawings.

The Klingon had noted the location of his office on the way and was already plotting routes from the office to the bridge and to his sleeping quarters -- fastest, most private, emergency options.

When they finally reach the cloaking device, he will examine it closely taking tricorder readings on many wavelengths. His initial question will be to determine if it is indeed based on Klingon technology.

As he scans the output, he notes the passage of time.

"Better start making our way back," he grunts to Norn. "Don't want to be late for our session with the captain."

Norn accessed the device and accessed any basic specification files available, skimming them with rapid speed, looking for a few telltale clues.

Annoyingly, he was not going to be able to copy these files: they had a data lock, but he was a fast reader and a faster skimmer.

He set his tricorder to scan it as well, hoping to get some idea of exactly what the hell had been built onto his ship.

"Hmmm... how is... ah. Yes. That should do."

I hope you let us "scan" this.
