OOC (Out of Character)

Welcome to the Out Of Character thread. Kick back, relax, and talk about stuff. Feel free to say whatever here, but once you want to do some roleplay and you want it canon, please put it in the current episode.

In reply to Neenalia (msg # 2):

True story!

Me: "I have severe allergies.  I heard these injections cure people of allergies."

Allergy Specialist: "Describe your symptoms."

"Sneeze so hard and long that i'm out of breath before breakfast.  Daily sinus headaches.  Severe.  Coughing..."

"Coughing?  Any hiccups?"

"Wh... nnnoooo?"

"Acid reflux?  Pain in your chest?"

"Um.  Once in a blue moon I get heartburn, sure."

"OK then I'm prescribing omeprazole.  Take 1 a day."

"Ooooh no.  None of that stuff.  I've tried that kinda antacid.  It messes me up."

"Even so, you gotta take the pills."

"Like.  Seriously.  My guts get WRECKED.  EXTREME pain, and I'm on the toilet all day."

"The insurance company requires that acid reflux be ruled out before they'll cover the 5 year injection program.  Either take these pills, or you won't qualify for the injections."

>.>  "Fine."

Same day I take 1 of those pills, I'm in the hospital with crippling pain.  Gastroenterologist: "What's the problem?"

I explain.

Gastroenterologist: "Then stop taking omeprazole immediately, and never take it again."

This is story 1 of my long history with the medical world.  Bright side: I got on the injection program and am no longer allergic to cats!  Still very allergic to tons of other things.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Neenalia:
"i am Dr. Mothershed, we are going to need you to tell us of any allergies you may know about"

So I'm in the E.R.  I think I was in there with anaphylaxis from one of my allergy shots.  Desk clerk said I look like death warmed over when I checked in.  Nurse gets me hooked up with an I.V. asks for allergies.

Me: "I'm in the system.  It should all be on my chart.  Long list.  Main thing for E.R., though, is: no morphine.  Any narcotic makes me really sick."

Nurse: "Describe your pain level."

"Um.  Never been 10.  That's where you pass out, right?  9 means I can't talk.  So... 8.5?"

"Ouch!  I'll give you a synthetic morphine, then."

"Remember what I said about narcotics?"

"It'll be fine.  It's synthetic."  Injects synthetic morphine into the I.V.

I get really nauseous, break into a cold sweat, and change color.

Nurse: "Huh.  Never seen that happen before."

Was curious:  Liquid nitrogen vs Lava...  Which would win?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgX3c2np1Bs

They both do!  The part that touches the liquid nitro becomes a spongy brittle glass.  But because it's spongy, it acts as an insulator, so even just a few inches inside the resulting rock it's still red hot!
