How common are mutations btw?

A:  growing, but minority. 13.4% of USA population.  was around 2% in the early 60's.  And of those, some are "my mutation is I make a flower bloom" while a select few are "I am my own heist team" like Chris described.  very few mutants have actually useful mutations.  most common is "i have non-standard hair color" like blue.  stuff like that


Q: Ah. I presume the more noteable, the more... 'Problematic' to some?  As in, wilder mutations, like the heist crew type, are more 'scary' to some

A: oh yea.  "what if it's infectious?  Will i grow bug eyes?  will I sprout an arm out of my ear?  stay away from me!"  but kinda like the 80s, the riots and stuff were a thing of the past.  just... dating a mutant is still kinda taboo.

Q:  Presumably it goes better with those that have easier to hide mutations. (Aka, blooming flowers.)

A: yeah

But, hm. Best question to ask: For school scenes, will the emphasis end up leaning towards high school?

taking from x-men.
in x-men the characters were adults in a college.
wanted to lean a little younger than x-men to kinda reflect the "not powerful" feel.
that said, since we don't have a Joe yelling at us about power creep and why marvel mutants are Godmodders, etc etc.
I'm fine with whatever age, and the possiblity of actually getting more powerful over time.
is growing taller over time a thing for your character?  aim for younger.

i hadn't really planned on much of the action happening IN school.  maybe interrupting school, but unlikely to actually being at the school itself.
