Do the undead categories understand what the other categories are?  Are the details of each type known only to that type?

Everyone has heard of these:
--Banshee
--Ghost
--Ghoul
--Skeleton
--Vampire
--Zombie
But they might not know every detail.

People who have listened to a lot of spooky stories may have heard of these:
--Drowned Ghost
--Revenant
--Snow Woman
But they might not know every detail.

Few will have heard of these (although SOME will have)...
--Death Knight
--Draugr
--Lich
--Mummy
...But those people might not know EVERY Detail...

Oh man,  hope they don't know the most common of vampire weaknesses. Otherwise I mkight be boned before I even started, :)

And we have a skeleton...

I have no time now but will add more of you to the game and talk more later today...

Annnnd we seem to have a Death Knight.

I'm closing the game to new people, and sticking with you 6 players. I'll add you all officially to the game later today...

I'll be playing Bill the skeleton. He's a pretty easy going guy.  He has his little corner of the dungeon that he keeps tidy, and he enjoys when visitors drop by.  But, he is a nudist, so you know if you drop by unannounced.

Everyone, including Nasir:

Okay so I think we want our lairs to all start off being near each other, yeah? (You can move to a new lair-- or, heck, get a second lair-- if you want (or need) to, but just for starters...)

So (looking at the Setting Thread) I think I'm gonna put us on or near the Zelgud/Sternza border. Increasingly-dense forest to the south, increasingly-dry desert to the north.

So:
--Winter the Death Knight: forest
--Flore the vampire: cabin in the woods
--Carol the Revenant: the city of Sternza, or a smaller town near Sternza
--Nasir the mummy: something in the desert

I was gonna have you all each start separately and then me increasingly encourage each of you to find each other and meet up through plot reasons...

HOWEVER, TWO SPECIFIC THOUGHTS:

1. Bill the skeleton wants to live in "a dungeon under a castle" and Gryux the lich wants to live in "a partially-ruined tower." It seems to me that you guys might kinda be neighbors? Tower up above, dungeon underneath? Steps on ground floor of tower lead down to dungeon or up to Gyrux's place? I think Gyrux might basically be Bill's landlord, as it were? How does this idea grab you two...?

2. We mmmmmmight be gettin' a banshee maybe? One of my players from another game of mine showed up late and pitched and I'm thinkin' of lettin' 'er in if she wants because RPol always has player attrition due to RL or whatever, often sooner, often later too?

HAVING SAID THAT, I was thinking of maybe having the elven banshee be sort of the immediate neighbor of Winter the Death Knight? How does that grab you, Winter...?

MY PERSONAL point of view leans toward the first thing you said, though...

I'm happy to have neighbors.  I think I'd look at it as a multifamily building.  I would have the lower apartment.  Then again, I enjoy visitors, so my door's open.

Yeah, I was going to ask: do we know each other (or some subset of the group)?  Under what circumstances would that happen?  Can different varieties of undead recognize each other?  Can they even, with certainty, recognize others of their own type?

I'm fine with another player, fwiw.

Carol will probably start in a smaller town.  Likely that's where her family is from (and ambition led to ... adverse events for some).  I'm fine having a neighbor that's not likely to ... be at cross purposes with my reason for being.
