OOC THREAD

Hmm, well since I lived in the woods, I night know Winter. And my cabin is somewhat close by a town so Flore would probably know about Carol as well. Not sure if Flore ever met the Skelly trios by chance.

Re: OOC THREAD

Carol:
Yeah, I was going to ask: do we know each other (or some subset of the group)?

I was gonna say no, but I think I'll relax that for the "close neighbors" (like Bill the skeleton and Gyrux the lich). Otherwise no, not at the start.

Carol:
Can different varieties of undead recognize each other?  Can they even, with certainty, recognize others of their own type?

Like if you saw a zombie down the street, would you immediately say "oh dang that's a zombie"? No, not automatically like that. ON THE OTHER HAND, you can spot other undead (who are trying to blend in) rather more easily than can the living.

Successfully communicating with them might make it even easier...

Carol:
I'm fine with another player, fwiw.

Good

Carol:
Carol will probably start in a smaller town.

Yeah, that'll let you be closer to the rest of the PCs

Well "everyone" will take a while... But I'll probably "group" you and Winter, Trina...

Re: OOC THREAD

The GM:
HAVING SAID THAT, I was thinking of maybe having the elven banshee be sort of the immediate neighbor of Winter the Death Knight? How does that grab you, Winter...?

I have just been informed that Trina is not of elven heritage, and that was, instead, just an idea I got in my own head at some point, that banshees would be much more likely to be elven.

So, never mind. You won't be "neighbors."

Gryux/Bill plan is still on, though.

Re: OOC THREAD

Okay, about to start.

So basically I have a secret list of 30 plot ideas to get things going.

I am about to roll randomly for each of you until I get one that I think might be appropriate for your PC, and then I'll apply it...

So stand by here we go...

--One question for Nasir: Are you and I gonna role-play you getting freed from your tomb, or will we just say that that's a thing that's already happened recently and take things from there? I'm fine either way...

Oh, another question-- Winter, Death Knights have Banes. See the Playbooks page... I need you to pick some...

So, NOT role-playing through it... it's just a thing that already happened recently. Got it.

I imagine it as just the way he talks. I was inspired by how Death speaks in Discworld.

I had a feeling that was the case.  You can't get much better inspiration than Discworld.  We need luggage!

Re: OOC THREAD

Hmm, hey, does any of you think Frankenstein counts as an undead. If so, maybe a frankenstein-like race should also be included. To mostly complete the classic horror movie monster set (the wolfman is unfortunately not an undead so he can't be included)

OOC THREAD

I would consider Frankenstein's monster more of a construct than undead, personally.  But that's just me.

Frankenstein's monster could be considered undead.  I played a game where they were a type of zombie, so they don't even need to be a new classification.

OOC THREAD

I know in Pathfinder 1e, a Flesh Golem is a construct.

quote:
A flesh golem is a ghoulish collection of stolen humanoid body parts, stitched together into a single composite form. Its cadaverous flesh has a sickly green or yellowish tint. A flesh golem wears whatever clothing its creator desires, usually just a ragged pair of trousers. It has no possessions and no weapons. A flesh golem stands 8 feet tall and weighs 500 pounds.

A flesh golem cannot speak, although it can emit a hoarse roar of sorts. It walks and moves with a stiff-jointed gait, as if not in complete control of its body.

Although most flesh golems are mindless, there are persistent rumors of unusual golems who somehow retain the memories of a previous life. The head (and thus brain) of such flesh golems must be just the right combination of fresh and (in its previous life) strong-willed, and even then luck and chance during the golem’s creation seem just as important in retaining the creature’s mind. Certainly most who construct flesh golems prefer mindless slaves over free-willed creations, and as a result intelligent flesh golems are rare indeed.

OOC THREAD

Hmm, flesh golems are indeed Frankenstein-like and they do seem to be more golem than zombie. Forged with the elements of lightning and without a soul, no way they could be considered undead. But do we undead have souls, aren't we simply husks, wandering the lands on a never ending quest to quench our jealous thirst for life.

I believe we are the unique exception - some of us were not inherently evil but due to happenstance or consequence, we have been brought back.
