"There are ways," said Kinexa, "but our civilization is more... amphibious.  We do most of our cooking in the air."

"Right. Duh," Amber said.

"How combat ready are you? I mean no disrespect with the question," Nitocris said.

"Well, it's not like you've been to Enceladus to know," said Kinexa.  "...yet."

"It's a fair question," said Hermione.  "But bear in mind that I'm the vulnerable daughter of a superhero with a known public identity, cloaked in a shell of technology that the two of us collaborated on.  Combat capabilities were a priority, simply for self-defense reasons."

"You are talking to me right now though," Amber said.

"That is a lot to bear," Nitocris said.

"That's been my life," said Hermione, shrugging.  "I've been through a lot.  It's denied me many things, but I think it's still made me stronger for having survived it."

"Yes, but I'm half-human," said Kinexa.  "Don't worry so much about it."

"If you insist," Amber said.

"It does make me appreciate you more," Nitocris said.

Kinexa reached out and ruffled Amber's hair.

"I do," she said.  "Focus on the fun we'll have tonight."

"And that does make me happy," said Hermione.

"And all this means I'm part of it, too!" said Toxie, happily.  "Don't worry.  I got moves!"

"Right," Amber said. "When do you want to head out?"

"It is good that you do," Nitocris said.

"Oh, I do," said Toxie.  "...that's kind of the thing with a family like mine.  You gotta learn to fight."

"About dinner time," said Kinexa.  "We're getting pizza, after all."

"We are getting close," Amber said.

"Ah. That is good," Nitocris said.

"...considering that her mother is a supervillain, 'good' is relative," Mateo pointed out.

"We could go change and get ready, then," Kinexa proposed.

"Sounds good," Amber said and there was a bright flash and she was back changed.

"I don't see how that reflects on Toxie," Nitocris said.

"It doesn't," said Mateo.

"...but yeah, how I learned wasn't good," Toxie admitted.  "That's very true."

"...Rushing me already, eh?" said Kinexa, grinning.  "Well, I suppose I can manage something..."

She fiddled with a bracelet she was wearing; the monosuit changed, extruding fabric, retracting panels, shifting to become a sporty outfit with a skirt.

"There, that should do it," she said.
